Hi 1Lincoln40!!! Sorry for not responding sooner.....I had watched the first few episodes and then kind of lost interest. I have since started subscribing to ACORNTV and now I've pretty much exhausted my binge watching of series I found there (Doc Martin, Rebecka Martinsson, Brokenwood Mysteries, Hamish Macbeth, Jack Irish to name a few) maybe I'll get back to Murdoch. I had not heard of Frankie Drake...looks like it's a CBC TV show. I don't believe CBC offers streaming if you live in the US...at least I haven't found a legitimate way yet although I would love to be able to watch Canadian TV!!!!!!!

No need to apologise Fjordmom. If it's ok with you, I'll let you know what I think of the series?
Brokenwood Mysteries - I like that series. The murders are possible and whilst most of the time it's a fun series, there have been episodes that for me were quite serious subjects.
Doc Martin - Did you get to see the 2 episodes in which Sigourney Weaver made an appearance?
Does AcornTV have any of the ancient costume dramas from the UK?

I really like a lot of the Australian shows.... I also watched A Place to Call Home...I had kind of felt a little "meh" at the end of the last season, partly because I could not (and still really can't) cotton up to George....but with the latest series I think they really upped their game with the storyines and characters..the actress who plays Regina (Jenni Baird) did an incredible job....and I think Marta Dusseldorp (Sarah) played a broad range of emotions REALLY well throughout the whole series. re: Doc Martin - I did see the episodes with Sigourney Weaver and really enjoyed them! Sounds like they will be shooting one more (final) series (season 9) for 2019....but that's SOOOOOOOOOO far away !!!! I was all set to binge Murdoch Mysteries but it looks like maybe Acorn is doling it out....they were only showing up to episode 3 and I fell asleep halfway through....I'll try to finish it tonight. Re: "ancient costume dramas".... I watched The Young Victoria and enjoyed it, though I guess there's some controversy about its accuracy...but it made for good watching!!! Do you have any recommendations? I also have a subscription to Netflix.

Murdoch - Just watched the one with the wine. I Love a drunken Murdoch. He usually has a stupid grin on his face and any inhibitions that he may have are quelled. Loved the Brackenreid cure for his hangover the next morning too!
Frankie Drake is starting soon in the UK so I will let you know what I think of that series.
I think what got me about the Sigourney Weaver appearance was that it was...Sigourney Weaver!! And not in some serious, major series, but a gentle show with humor.
Just as I was shocked to see Charlize Theron in an episode of The Orville....
I will give some thought to what you may want to look out for but as you watched Brokenwood Mysteries, have you watched The Doctor Blake Mysteries?

1Lincoln40 , can't wait for the drunken Murdoch (hopefully I didn't nod off and miss it!!!) . Acorn is doing one ep per week so I've only viewed through ep 5, but I think 4 and 5 have been very interesting regarding Julia and fertility treatment, etc., and overall I have really enjoyed the eps. I love The Dr. Blake Mysteries!

Fjordmom are you on Season 11 because that's the one I'm watching right now.
Just saw the episode that featured Helen Keller and Alexander Graham Bell. What an amazing human being Helen was. Lived until 1968! And it appears that Patty Duke met her when she was playing her.

Hi Fjordmom, When on ACORNTV be sure to watch 'Foyle's War'.
It is nine amazing seasons of a BBC police drama about a British police Deputy Chief Inspector in southern coastal area of England during WWII. Michael Kitchen is superb as the DCI in this series. As with 'Castle', the 'Foyle's War' primary cast members were unchanged the entire series. [Exception being Montgomery to Gates transition.]
I re-watched all the seasons and episodes of both 'Castle' and 'Foyle's War' on my laptop computer during the ten weeks of no weight bearing casts on my right leg following ankle and foot surgery while things mended.
See you.

Fjordmom - thanks for the heads up on the upcoming episodes of Murdoch.
As a side, Frankie Drake just started and George Crabtree from Murdoch was in it. Older and from the sounds of it, someone with some property to his name.

See you. Thanks, Larry! I am definitely going to check that out tonight...nine seasons, you say??!!!!! That should keep me occupied for a while, huh? I had been streaming the Irish TV mystery show "Jack Taylor"...didn't care for all the blood and gore, and there was plenty of pretty dark, dysfunctional emotions, etc. ( sounds great, right???!!!!) BUT, there was that underlying hint of will they-won't they of the two leads....I'm a definite sucker for the possibility of romance....he was a former detective in the Gardaí who was sacked and now working on his own, and the female lead (Nora-Jane Noone) is a young officer in the Gardaí, named Kate!!?? no less, who has these BEAUTIFUL eyes that you can just get lost in...anyway, watched 6 hour-and-a-half episodes, things seemed to be hinting at the possibility of more of a relationship between Jack and Kate maybe, started ep 7 and.....What the heck....... I know I'm getting older and my vision is not what it used to be but she sure doesn't look like Kate...even though her NAME is still Kate....THEY HAD THE UNMITIGATED GALL TO CHANGE THE LEAD ACTRESS. ARGHH!!!! That was it for me.....so, long story short, I will move on to Foyle's War

Just saw the organ transplant episode. Interesting if true about aspirin. Also Julia trying to encourage two women to pursue medicine. And very surprised that Julia is trying to get pregnant. I hadn't realised the damage that her abortion had caused. I do hope that she will be allowed to give William a son. That would just be the icing on the cake and something that unfortunately Castle were not willing to do.

B The next episode is pretty interesting, too. I'm with you, it would be lovely if they could have a child. And it's humbling to learn what medicine and science experimention was happening back then and what discoveries were starting to be made.

Fjordmom what also got me about the organ transplant episode was how much George objected to the procedures. Usually he is the one all for progress. And yes, how brave doctors had to be in that aspect of medicine given I would imagine the religious objections that would come into play. Fingers crossed that Julia can present William with a child. I can just imagine how he would react. B

Just saw the euthanasia episode and I figured it out as soon as Murdoch came to the conclusion that several murders covered up one. And as three were different from the first one, I figured that had to be the real murder so to speak. However I became a little concerned when Julia talked about her attempts to get pregnant. I really, really hope that Helene if she has decided this will be her last series will not have Julia killed in child birth. Fjordmom I hope you will warn me if something like that should happen..? B
