I don't know how many people here have tumblr accounts, but if you do, please follow writingonthecastlewalls. She provides excellent analysis of why she believes Kate did what Kate did. I don't always agree with everything, but she is always well reasoned and persuasive. Check her out. You will feel better. I just finished watching this for the second time. Believing the blind item to be about Castle, the ending didn't seem so shocking to me. What I did notice this time was Rick's low-key reaction to her leaving, almost unemotional. Like my husband said to me, if this were me leaving, he would've said WTF are you talking about and start to grill me for some answers. He wouldn't just let me walk out the door like that without some plausible explanation while trying to convince to stay. That being said, both of these episodes were exciting and drew me in right away. If the writers can keep this up, we're in for a good season. It will be interesting to see how Rick and Kate navigate investigating cases without stepping on each others' toes. I especially liked Rick and Kate having real conversations for a change (except for the last scene), and I'm looking forward to seeing how this new threat plays out.

i hear you. I get her points. I just can't get past the idea that Castle is safe if we r not living together even if we see each other all the time. I liked the episodes a lot, but To me this would have been better as an arc if Stana did not re sign and they needed a way to get her out. Then they could have explored the effects on Castle. Which would have been a bummer but I think may have kept me watching. |

ruggedlyhansome, I do agree that the show runners didn't do themselves any favors with their interviews this summer. All of us who took them at their word expected to see a happy couple, or at the least a couple actively working through their issues together. If they had just come out and given us some clue, perhaps saying that Caskett was going to experience a rough patch or be separated by certain issues but will find their way back together...well, I wouldn't have liked it but I also wouldn't have felt so blindsided, angry, and betrayed. I'm not happy with this story line. I think the character arc is completely wrong on many levels and that TPTB have taken a horrible risk with the show...but I will still be watching and hoping for the best whatever that might be. I did not read anything about the upcoming season, thus, no bias for the two parter. To say that I am thoroughly irritated with the Beckett regression is almost beyond words. I am hanging in as long as I can. Castle is the only series that I watch live, so, I must have some hope that things will turn around. Not sure how the future episodes can soothe my savage breast. LOL.... I would love to have been watching this with you. But, methinks I may have needed ear plugs! Baahahahahahahhahaa! XO !  You rock!  |

The past 2 days real life has kept me away from the discussion and all things Castle. Bad timing! First off, Arky! So glad to hear you're on the mend and agree with CF40 that you need to hit the mountain and enjoy the music. It's good for the heart and the soul! Secondly, cxq, you've seared a nasty image into my brain with your "savage breast" comment!!!!  Thirdly, Angie, I appreciate your post concerning the lack of female POV in the writing and definitely feel that's something to be pondered. Thanks for your insight. Lastly, as I spent several hours in the car on Tuesday, I had plenty of time to reflect on the turn of events in XX. I was struck with the thought - Be careful what you wish for. For the past 2 or even 3 years, I've read many, many posts from Castle fans longing for the magic and fun we saw in seasons 1- 4. The banter and the sexual tension had us watching episodes multiple times and dying for the next one to be aired. Well, after reading the followup interview with the new show runners, it appears that they are intending to try to ramp up those very things this season. HOWEVER, they seem to feel that they can't do it without a degree of separation between the 2 characters. This is what makes me so angry! I absolutely have to believe that there are writers who can portray a happily married couple who challenge and tease and excite each other. I loved the magic of those first 4 seasons with all my heart and would love to see more of it than we've seen the past 2 seasons, but it totally disappointments me that we have to go through another round of Castle getting Kate back in order to achieve this. The other thing I reflected on was just how lame this separation is in terms of serving the plot. Who on earth would believe that Kate can keep her family safe from this immensely powerful conspiracy just by living somewhere else?Absurd. IMO, Castle nailed it when he said they are best when they're together. That's when they can change the world. As someone else also mentioned, I chuckled over Kate leaving with a bag that MIGHT have held her makeup and a pair of shoes! My mantra this week has been - It's just a TV show. It's sad because it's been so much more than that for so long. |

I know I'm not alone in feeling like we got punched in the gut. Sort of feels like we lost a friend I was so dejected afterwards.
I know that this is a TV show and sometimes things are necessary to "spice it up" so to speak but this one hurts. That being said I'm still going to turn in every week and watch like I always do till the wheels fall off

My guess is that all those years she just assumed she would be happy when her mothers killer was brought to justice. Unfortunately it appears now that justice is more important to her than love.
Good thing the villains in her world are just dysfunctional, illogical, and forgetful as she is.
That woman has a LOT more baggage that what she left with.
