When Jai finally takes a turn feeding Baby Will, we get a wonderful, heart-felt exchange between Jai and Standish. Jai reveals that he believes his extreme type A personality would make him a terrible father. He says no child deserves him. Broke my heart! As the season progressed, I found myself loving Vir Das more and more. He's a stand-up comedian who had never really acted and I felt he was extremely talented! On their walk into town, Frankie again teases Will about Ray and Emma being in love and Will says that, while she's gotten a little more playful and fun, right now he hates it! After they take Vlad down temporarily, Frankie and Will have a great scene in the woods. Will wants to call Emma and Frankie says she'll shoot him if he does. Frankie schools him about trusting Emma and she says that there's one thing that Will's taught her. That is you shouldn't stop trusting someone until they give you a reason to. Will's had a definite positive effect on Frankie! I also like the way the writers are using Emma as a way to teach Will how to have a relationship with a capable and independent woman. It's like laying the groundwork for Will and Frankie in the future. CURSE THE TV GODS THAT WE'LL NEVER GET TO SEE THAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Tina takes out 3 of the team members and makes off with the baby. This is where we really start to see that Standish has a crush on her, and, we find out she's CIA and wants to help them. I loved Will's "spy humor" when Tina was cuffed to the bed and he told her to ,"Stay here." There's a massive fight and take down as the team, and Tina, rescue the women and children and Jai is the one looking out for Baby Will. Then it's time to say goodbye. Again, Jai steals my heart as he cradles Baby Will and enjoys the new-baby smell. This episode really gave us some lovely insights into each one of the team members as they related to Baby Will.

Just some quick thoughts about this ep.... Ray does excruciating dork so well!!! with the opening scene in the bar and his British accent. Even though he's a dork, I can see the hurt part of him that just wants so badly to be forgiven and belong to the group. nathanfan1 , I too liked the bonding between Susan and Frankie. Will in his soccer ball hat.......LOL!!! It was interesting that Frankie didn't close herself down when she and Will were discussing parenthood. Loved the background scenery of Bulgaria. I wondered if big RVs were the norm there? Great in the countryside but definitely wouldn't fit down a narrow street or alley in an old town. Jai doesn't mince any words in conveying his dislike of touching babies. He manages to convince Standish he's no good at baby care and gets him to take care of Baby Will ... who needs a diaper change!!!!! LOL But by the end of the rescue, he's cooing at Baby Will and his "new baby smell" too!!!! Tina takes down everyone very expeditiously when they have the RV parked in the woods! When the team heads out in the van, to hunt down Tina, they find her standing beside the car, holding the teddy bear. When the team opens the van door, her response is: "What took you so long?" Then we learn she's actually one of the "good guys". Since I have cats, I had to chuckle about the scene when Emma gives Will the watch and he says: I even like the box. To which Emma says: Like a cat! I loved the heartfelt "counseling" Emma gave Ray, and the diary. At the end of the ep, when Susan (I think it was her, not Frankie) makes a snarky comment under her breath meant for Ray, Ray writes in his diary: "Susan mean to me. Frankie not so nice either. Minus 2." @nathanfan, I also am impressed by Vir Das and his acting skills. I guess in a way when you're a comedian you probably need some acting genes, but he definitely did a great job with his character, being both funny and caring. I still cannot get over how "badass" Marika Dominczyk is as Tina. I think back to the video that Marika and Scott sent out when they found out the show was canceled, with tears in her eyes. It's hard to believe she played Tina. Kudos to her.

I'm SOOOOOO excited to revisit this next episode - Spain, Trains and Automobiles! Out of all 13 episodes, this is the one I've watched the most and I can't wait to talk about it. You've been warned! Will, Frankie and team are joined by Will's new girlfriend, MI6 agent Emma Davies, as they head to Spain on a mission to retrieve a plutonium core from the wrong hands.

'Bout time I got this party started! I've asked myself many times why this is the episode I go back and watch most frequently. I think what I love about it is the level of intimacy between Frankie and Will, despite the presence of Emma as Will's girlfriend. The episode serves to distinguish between Will and Emma being a couple and dating and Will and Frankie knowing and understanding each other on a much deeper level. There's one particular moment when I think that really stands out and I'll comment on it when it occurs. The opening for this one is a rip roaring fight scene in a bar as Will, Frankie and Jai try to tag Will's old Marine buddy with a micro tracker. Those big fight scenes must be quite a challenge to coordinate and film and I'm so impressed that almost all of the scenes and stunts in the series were done by the real actors. I loved Frankie getting in a kick to the crotch from behind on one guy and it was fun to see Jai in action as opposed to his usual 3 piece suit. Poor guy - his nose became a running gag throughout the rest of the episode. And did I mention Scott Foley in a uniform? Yeah baby!!!

Back at the Dead Drop, Frankie is delighted to see Will hating on Jimmy and we get a bit of back story on Will. He served 2 tours of duty in Iraq and from the look of those medals on his uniform, he must have done well. Will is not happy when Ray reveals that he's requested Emma to assist on the mission and neither is Emma when she finds out. Will doesn't understand why she's upset with him and he seems to think it would be a good opportunity for them to spend some time together. He tries to sell Emma on the idea by teasing about his GORGEOUS green eyes in the light of Spain! The wardrobe dept. also did a WONDERFUL job of dressing Will in a PERFECT green sweater that made those eyes look amazing! Yeah baby!!! I think the writers did a nice job of schooling Will on how to navigate a relationship with a woman who's his equal in this episode.

Standish was wishing he had a nemesis and when the team gets to MI6, he's confronted by Todd, who's upset over Standish taking over his work station. Then, Standish meets Tina as he's being a dork. He's most definitely twitterpated, especially when Tina suggests they go out for a drink! Susan and Jai are also shocked and they commit to helping Standish pull off this first date. Before starting their mission, Frankie and Susan explain to Will why Emma is mad at him and Frankie suggests a gift - Jimmy's ear!!!!!! Such a 'Frankie" thing to say! Then, at the bunker, Frankie continues to give Will relationship advice as she suggests he wait for Emma to make the first contact and then he should apologize. She acknowledges that he'll actually mean it and that very same comment comes up again shortly. While Will is obviously taking all of this in context with Emma, it's definitely laying the groundwork for a relationship with Frankie also. This is a continuation of the advice Frankie offered in the woods in the previous episode. When Will and Frankie confront Jimmy in the bunker, I got a kick out of Frankie's surprise when Will shot at the empty storage case. The writers did a nice job of setting up the train station scene at the end by introducing the geiger counter and spent uranium rods now. Will and Frankie sure do work well together as they find the core and get away from Jimmy and his men. After Jimmy's truck blows up, Frankie and Will ask for an alternative extraction plan and Jai is on it. One of the best comic moments was when Jai gave a sniff through his poor, damaged nose as he looked intently at the computer. I know I've commented before on the delightful use of oldies performed in the native language and this episode had a fantastic example! As Will and Frankie are hiking through the cold woods, the Turtle song, "Happy Together" is in the background. Here are some of the lyrics - "The only one for me is you and you for me, so happy together. I can't see me loving nobody but you for all my life ...." Yeah baby!!!!!!!!!! Friskey for the win!!!!

Let's talk for a minute about the GORGEOUS house Will and Frankie are directed to for the night! Talk about amazing! I love the blue color of the wood, the inviting fireplace, ceramic tiles on the walls, vinyl LPs that Frankie handles so reverently and a loaded fridge. Was this the first time Frankie called Will "Dork"? I do love that. It's the perfect setting for them to relax in with warm slippers, wine, cheese and fig jam and just be normal people instead of spies. It's a rare treat and it brings out the best in both of them. Seeing both of them be so comfortable in each other's company is one of the BEST aspects of this episode for me. Meanwhile, back at MI6, Susan is going to help prepare Standish for his date with Tine by trying to boost his self confidence. Jai rates Tina as a 10 and then they wallop Standish with ratings of 9 (Susan), 6 1/2 (Ray), a soft 2 from Jai (he lives with his mom) and then Ray changes his to negative pathetic. Way to build confidence! There are hysterical flashes of Susan, Ray and Jai talking to Tina to learn more about her for the dating dossier.

While we haven't hit my favorite moment yet, this is definitely my favorite scene. I'm guessing it's the director again who gets credit for the way it starts. Throughout the series there were so many wonderfully creative shots like this one. We start with a SENSUOUS closeup of Will's thumb and forefinger gently lowering the needle arm of a turntable onto a vinyl LP. It's such a unique shot and it echoes the reverence Frankie had when she first fingered the albums. When the music starts, much to my delight, not only did I recognize the oldie - Sharing The Night Together by Dr. Hook - but it was in English! OMG! They could not have chosen a more perfect song for this scene. I just have to post the lyrics here! Verse 1] You're looking kinda lonely girl Would you like someone New to talk to? Ah-yeah, alright I'm feeling kinda lonely too If you don't mind Can I sit down here beside you? Ah-yeah, alright [Bridge] If I seem to come on too strong I hope that you will understand I say these things 'Cause I'd like to know If you're as lonely as I am And if you mind [Chorus] Sharing the night together (woah, yeah) Sharing the night together (woah, yeah) Sharing the night [Bridge] We could bring in the morning girl If you wanna go that far And if tomorrow find us together Right here the way we are Would you mind [Chorus] Sharing the night together (woah, yeah) Sharing the night together (woah, yeah) Sharing the night [Verse 2] Would you like to dance with me and hold me You know I want to be holding you Ah-yeah, alright 'Cause I like feeling like I do And I see in your eyes That you're liking it I'm liking it too Ah yeah, alright [Bridge] Like to get to know you better Is there a place where we can go? Where we can be alone together And turn the lights down low And start [Chorus] Sharing the night together (woah, yeah) Sharing the night together (woah, yeah) [Chorus / Outro] Sharing the night together (Would you mind, sharing the night?) Sharing the night together (Would you mind, sharing the night?) Sharing the night together (Would you mind, sharing the night?) Sharing the night together (Would you mind, sharing the night?) I remember seeing a a tease for this episode and it brought forward the question of just how far Will and Frankie would take it, alone together for the night. With Will in a relationship with Emma and Frankie having said she thought Emma was good for Will, I didn't figure we'd see anything inappropriate, but we did see a new level of intimacy between them that was just delightful!

Talk about ambiance! The setting for this scene is as warm and intimate as their interaction. There are soft lights illuminating the stone walls, that warm blue wood, a blazing fire, some fun globe lights around the fireplace and CANDLES! It's something you'd dream about. While there are 2 separate chairs in the room, Will and Frankie choose to sit close together on a small sofa. Frankie, who's always reluctant to share anything about her past, is telling Will about a takedown and he teases her about her breakups being terrifying. She admits that she used to go for the bad boys. Then, Frankie teases Will about drinking stolen wine. Now, granted, they're on their second bottle of wine, but to see them laughing and teasing each other so comfortably, is delightful! Instead of criticizing each other for their differences as they often do, they're able to accept and enjoy them. Will says it's awful that Frankie might have been attracted to Jimmy in the past and Frankie is not surprised that Eagle Scout, Will, left money to cover the cost of the wine. Frankie notices that Will's shoulder is bothering him and she offers to work on it. He doesn't give it a second thought and pulls off his outer long sleeve shirt. As Frankie starts working Will's shoulder muscles with her thumb, the camera zooms in to, once again, give a very SENSUOUS feel to what's going on, and Will makes guttural noises that add to that feel! Frankie is definitely good with her hands and Will says she could do massages for a living though he knows she'd rather shoot people. Frankie makes a BIG admission as she tells Will that she likes drinking with him. He gives her a long look and then says he likes drinking with her too. Romantic? No, not really, but for these 2, that's high praise and it speaks volumes about how far their relationship has come. We equate touching and a massage with intimacy and I love this scene for showing the special kind of intimacy that Will and Frankie have found. As odd as it sounds, I think the very reason that they were both so comfortable with the touching is because of Emma already being Will's girlfriend. Both Will and Frankie trusted each other to respect that line, so to speak, and that gave them the liberty to be way more familiar than they would have been otherwise. AND, the wine may have had something to do with their lack of inhibitions too! Love, love, love that whole scene with the music, the lighting, the camera work and the acting!

Of course, that charged look between Will and Frankie HAS to be interrupted! After seeing movement by the window, Will and Frankie instantly go into work mode. Emma crashed their evening but her presence also brings about some great moments. Emma wants to discuss why she was mad at Will back in New York and it becomes awkwardly apparent that Will has shared it all with Frankie. It's really kind of comical when Will apologizes and Frankie chimes in that he really means it. Emma isn't sure just who she's really having this conversation with! Emma says, 'Well, thank you," but she's looking at Frankie as much as she is Will. This is another one of those great moments when the depth of Will and Frankie's connection trumps the romantic involvement with Emma. Is Emma jealous? suspicious? as she surveys the cozy room and asks, "What were you two doing to pass the time?" Then Will - the chicken - bolts upstairs leaving Frankie and Emma awkwardly avoiding the elephant in the room! Cut to Standish on his big date with Tina. Playing the alpha dude (as Ray suggested he do), Standish fails to impress with his bare chest, gold chains and gold teeth! Can we say - total disaster??? As Will and Frankie prepare to leave the house and follow Emma safely out, Will tells Frankie that he feels they need to tell Emma what happened that evening. Frankie argues that there's nothing to tell, nothing inappropriate happened. They were just 2 partners sharing some wine and he needed that massage in order to be ready for action. But Will thinks that wine and a massage might be a little more than the usual partner behavior - at least he seems to feel somewhat guilty about it. Frankie fires back at him asking just what he thought was going to happen if Emma hadn't shown up. I LOVE the way Scott Foley delivers his answer - "Nnnnnnnnn nothing???" Will clearly feels that things might have gone further if they hadn't been interrupted!. However, it would have been very out of character for Will to actually cheat on Emma, BUT, I would have loved to have seen a quick shot of the two of them later that evening, both asleep on the couch and leaning into each other.

A call from Jimmy proposing a deal sends Will, Frankie and Emma hurrying back to Emma's car, but not before Will takes his cash back for the wine and sets the cheese down to distract the dogs. The scene in Emma's car is my FAVORITE! This serves to totally cement how close Will and Frankie have grown. Emma is all for celebrating a successful mission and Will, (in the backseat) responds, "Damn it!" Emma is totally confused but Frankie knows INSTANTLY why her partner's responding that way. Not only does she know and understand, but she has a plan to bring Will the satisfaction he longs for. I also love how Will gives Frankie his phone without any hesitation and she seems to have no problem unlocking it. Trusting partners! Will and Frankie may not be kissing and sleeping together, but what they've built between them at this point is a foundation that will be able to withstand whatever comes their way. And once again, I have to lament the fact that I'll never get to see that relationship grow into something wonderful and fulfilling. There's a quick serious moment between Susan and Ray where Susan is sharing her thought on a relationship, foreshadowing what we're soon to find out about the two of them! Ready to set their plan in motion, Will, Frankie and Emma arrive at the train station and, once again, Will leaves the 2 women in his life awkwardly alone together. Emma addresses the elephant in the room saying she likes to lay everything out on the table, while Frankie admits that she prefers to bury things. Emma tells Frankie what she already knows about Will always wanting to talk about things. Frankie reassures Emma that nothing happened between she and Will, which is what Will has already told Emma. It was a nice little scene to clear the air and leave no skeletons to come back and haunt them later. I thought the juggling of backpacks in the train station was clever and especially enjoyed the string music they used to accompany the dance. I LOVED confident and cocky Will as he confronted Jimmy with the spent uranium rods. Will gets the satisfaction of Jimmy being taken into custody AND he gets to take a swing at him too! Frankie notices that it hurt his shoulder but seems to agree not to rat him out. Standish gets a second chance with Tina on a setup mission that Ray arranged and things go well when Standish is just being himself. Then we're back at the Dead Drop to celebrate the mission. I don't understand why Standish isn't there though. Jai is covering his poor bruised nose with makeup and Will and Emma are happily pouring wine for a toast. Jai and Frankie agree that Emma is great and they like her but Frankie still shudders over the fact the Emma and Will tell each other everything. Still, it makes her respect Will even more! After a toast and a taste of the bad wine, Will and Frankie are left alone and Will declares that it for sure isn't as good as what THEY had in Spain. AMEN sir! You did, indeed have a special night together! Cue a reprise of that perfect oldie...."sharing the night together"

LOVE reading your indepth reviews nathanfan1 !!! Here's my quick take on this episode.... ------------------- Love it when Will calls Jimmy's bluff about what and how he is doing. After the fight -- Jai: My nose is fine, thank you for asking... Frankie's approving comments on Will's wanting to put Jimmy "away": "Look at you, hating on somebody, I like it." Will claims he doesn't "hate" Jimmy, but eventually he admits he does, and again Frankie gives her approval. What the heck is the subtle noise when Will puts his fist up toward Ray after he tells Will that he arranged to have Emma as part of the mission? Frankie and Will taking out the two guys Jimmy sends to check things out at at the bunker, where Frankie definitely goes the extra mile in taking out her guy. Will: Why do you make everything so complicated? Frankie (rather nonchalantly): I don't know. Nathanfan, I love Happy Together also!!!! Frankie and Will are even pretty much walking to the beat of the music . The delighted look on Frankie's face when they see the extraction house which she was expecting to be "some filthy, freezing shed"....Will: That's quite the shed. Frankie: I bet they have SO many blankets! I love the almost reverent look on Frankie's face when she sees the albums and starts looking through them. (I just noticed in your review that you used the word reverent too!!!! Frankie's slippers!!!!!! The ambiance of the room, candles, wine, fig jam, massage, Frankie letting down her defenses a bit when she's talking with Will. So nice to see them having a relaxed, good time together. Frankie saying she liked drinking with Will, and then Will gazing at Frankie tellling her he liked drinking with her, too.....Mmmmmhmmmm....cue violins, WE know there's something there between the two of them, SO OF COURSE EMMA HAS TO SHOW UP!!!!! RRRRRRRR Will's awkward greeting:: Emma, wow, hi..... Did you notice how Frankie seems to be trying to subtly tuck in the back of her sweater.... I love the total awkwardness of the conversation that ensues between the three of them, with Frankie and Will trying to appear as though NOTHING happened, and the looks on Frankie's face especially. There are some really funny lines in this scene. Emma: So what have you two been doing to pass the time? Frankie: Work stuff. Will: And fig jam. The look on Frankie's face when Will says this!!! Will wrestling with wanting to tell Emma what happened. Frankie doesn't see an issue, Will doesn't feel it's right to keep things from her.. Frankie: To keep what from her? Seriously, Will...what did you think was going to happen if Emma hadn't shown up? Will, hesitating a bit: ...Nothing (but he says this in a very halting, questioning way). (I can tell you what was going to happen....with all those warm blankets available, more wine, more music, maybe some more fig jam....or not....and, well, we know!!!!! ) nathanfan, I liked the car scene discussion also as it us more insight into Frankie and her feelings about Will, and again there are some very funny lines. The look on Emma's face when Frankie asks Will for his phone to unlock it....if looks could kill!!!?? It was fascinating to watch the train station/backpack choreography. And Will's satisfying blow to Jimmy!!!! Will and Frankie are keeping things at arm's length, especially in light of Emma being in the picture, but they are learning more about each other and feeling more comfortable.

Fjordmom, so fun to see what you noticed and enjoyed in the episode too!
I forgot to mention Frankie's delight over the slippers she found. I'm glad you mentioned that. I also wanted to add that when it looked like Frankie was tucking in her shirt, she was actually putting her gun back in her pants or holster. She and Will both did that with their guns.
I'll probably start up the next episode next week.
