That is so cool! Unfortunately, I'm not on Twitter but I have signed 2 different petitions. I'm not holding out any real hope right now but miracles DO happen! This show is like a drug in my veins!

This show is like a drug in my veins! yes, indeed, it is like a drug!! I am rewatching, and that's bitter sweet....just reinforcing all the WONDERFUL things about this classy show! If someone, i.e. Netflix or other, picks it up just as one season, that doesn't necessarily get us anywhere as far as more episodes. They could so easily do at least another season, because there is background history for all the characters to be explored.

To further feed our addiction ...... here's the link to the Whiskey Cavalier Fan Fiction page! There aren't many stories at this point but I've definitely enjoyed what's there and I even gave one of the writers a couple of suggestions for stories. I hope people continue to keep the series alive in this way. www.fanfiction.net/tv/Whiskey-Cavalier/

I'd like to let everyone know that Fjordmom and I are going to start going back and watching the whole series again in sequence and then commenting on what we liked and disliked and observed in each episode. We'd love it if more people would join in! This isn't a review, but rather just a place to drop comments, so even if you just have a brief observation, please share! I'm anxious to hear what other people thought. We'll start with episode 1 today and give it several days to give people time to rewatch. After a few days with no activity on the thread, we'll move on to the next episode. Hope you'll come along for the ride!

Here we go!
Pilot - Sentimental FBI super-agent, Will Chase, and heard-hearted CIA operative, Frankie Trowbridge, go head to head as they both try to capture Edgar Standish, an NSA geek who's stolen classified information. The balance of power shifts back and forth as Will and Frankie battle for control until they finally have to work together against another enemy. The end result is the formation of a team of super-spies who have no idea how to work together!

ABC really did do a lot to promote the series prior to it's premier and they even showed the pilot early, right after the Oscars. For me, that meant watching it from 11:00PM until midnight but I did stay up and do it because I was so curious. I also thought that, if I liked it, it would be good to kind of know what was going on when I watched it in it's regular spot on Wednesday. My husband thought I was nuts and went to bed!
I wasn't at all sure that I'd like the show. I was most interested in getting a feel for the male/female leads and their chemistry. I'm not a fan of explosions, car chases and shootings as a rule, so I figured that might end up turning me off to the show. However, as I watched, I was frequently giggling and laughing at the many twists and one liners and wasn't bothered at all by the violence. When I watched the show for a second time on Wednesday night, my husband tried to watch it with me but he got up and left about halfway through. He said he couldn't believe I could watch all that killing. I just laughed and told him he couldn't take it all so literally. I said it's like a super hero movie. The killing is not supposed to matter. It's the characters that matter. From then on, he'd listen to the shows from another room and then ask me about parts he heard me laughing over, but he never did actually watch the show again. His loss!
The creators established their typical format by having the first scene be a mini mission before we see the opening credits and hear the theme song. I've enjoyed that format throughout the series because we get to see the team in action more. Then we get to the main focus of the episode. I really like the artistry of the opening credits. Using the black/white/red colors and silhouettes of the 2 leads is cool. The figures are first opposing each other, as were Frankie and Will, and then they grasp hands and come together. Nice metaphor of the main relationship! I also enjoy the music with the opening.
I have to say that it's so much fun for me to go back and watch everything, knowing how things develop and play out. I'll be back later with some thoughts about that first, opening segment!

I thought of one more thing I wanted to comment on about the series overall. I'd read that it was being shot in Prague and it was the first American show to be completely produced in Europe. I'd also read that Scott Foley even moved his whole family over there.
From the very beginning, I was delighted with the incredible locations and scenery! It's been delightful to get to see so many beautiful buildings and iconic locations. That's just one of the many things that set this series apart from all the others. I also appreciate how they have the locations appear to be typed in on the screen throughout the episode.

I do not watch live TV anymore, strictly streaming services, and I don't like the networks' apps, so I was completely oblivious to Whiskey Cavalier until joana started the thread here, and then nathanfan1 gave her RESOUNDING kudos!!!! I downloaded the ABC app and was able to stream the pilot ... and was immediately HOOKED by the humor of the opening and ensuing scenes. And I am a definite sucker for any show with a hint of will they-won't they romance involved. Because of the way the ABC app works for someone who doesn't have some type of TV/cable provider, I had to wait a week before viewing episodes, and also I was locked out of episodes 2 and 3, so I had kind of a weird viewing pattern, but I've more than made up for it....watching episodes over and over, and following nathanfan1's lead and now having the entire season available to me via iTunes. I may have seen Scott Foley when I watched a few episodes of The Unit very briefly years ago, but otherwise I was not familiar with any of the actors. EP. 1 - PILOT I'm going to do this kind of stream of consciousness, there are so many funny lines/scenes, I wish I could capture them all, but here's a few that I enjoyed the most. Right away I was laughing with Will sitting in the dark, everything strewn around the room, clothing, wine bottles, food, crying, Total Eclipse of the Heart playing in the background, You've Got Mail DVD on the table. Ray calls, Will opens the window and sun streams in, he winces. Ray caught in soccer game gridlock, "I hate soccer!" Love the chase scene, view of the Eiffel Tower. Will catches the Ebola vial, landing hard on the cobblestones, gets up and spies the proposal going on with that sweet-sad look on his face. Cue Theme Song: Love Me Again by John Newman. I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this song. I found the official video on Youtube and watch it at least once, or more, every day, and it's been interesting exploring his music. Will gets shot while watching the proposal, kills assailant, unzips jacket, pulls bullet out of his vest: "City of love, my ass!" Will's boring salesman routine, the looks on Frankie's face as he blathers on. Both Frankie and Will talking about each other as "relentness". Frankie undoes Will's seatbelt while driving, slams on brakes, Will hits head on dash, she gets his gun, she puts Will in the trunk with Standish. Standish fishing for the key in Will's pocket, finds it, throws it across the trunk. The train scene when Will is talking to Susan and he is telling her he thinks he has shaken Frankie, only to have her sit down across from him, saying "Miss me?" Frankie pulls out her gun, Will puts his gun against Frankie's knee under the table: "That's my gun, by the way." As a side note, having Susan read through Frankie's profile for Will was an interesting way to reveal some of Frankie's background. Will listening to Susan and Frankie carrying on in conversation: "I'm sorry, is this going anywhere?" _____________________ Other things I love about the show: --the show being shot on location overseas and the use of music that originates from the country/location they are filming in --the use of overhead filming which adds another dimension to what's going on

Re: violence....I can't recall which episode it was, maybe 9 or 10, when I complained about all the rock 'em/sock 'em violence, but I have to admit that now I find myself more interested in how they actually physically do all those scenes and film them....but most of all for me, the characters and clever humor by far outweigh the physical violence. RE: first scene - I agree, it's a nice way to start things rolling, and you already know I love the music and the graphics... . I like the way some of their moves fit the saxophone part of the music, and when they hold hands and appear to be jumping toward the end.

I've got a busy day today but I'll start with a few comments about the opening segment. I'm kind of breaking it all into 3 parts - the opening in Paris, the power struggle to grab Standish and then working together against a new enemy.
In the opening segment, I thought it was a very funny contrast when we see Will wallowing in his grief and sadness, then popping up and grabbing his big gun when Ray calls. That surely set the tone of him having 2 very different sides!
I liked the hazy flashes of Will and Gigi in their relationship. It said they were together for over a year and they were actually engaged so I can see why he was heartbroken.
Often times, pilots for shows are shot well before the network orders them to series and I sure noticed the difference in Ray's looks. He has much longer hair and in that first segment, seems a lot more like a capable agent than the doofus he comes across as later.
Once the action started after the cemetery scene, I was gobsmacked that Scott Foley was doing all of those stunts himself! Holy Cow! That man is in good physical condition but he HAD to be sore after the beating his body took. I've read that he wanted to do as many stunts as possible himself so there are very few times that a stuntman stepped in. I guess they wouldn't let him jump off the bridge onto the boat but I think he did everything else in the pilot.
Best line in the opening - "City of love, my ass!" I also loved Will's running commentary at the cemetery - "Hello Dr. Conrad. Very punctual. I like that in a traitor, and you brought a plus one." Such great humor!

I had saved all of the episodes but when I knew it was being cancelled I deleted them all except the last episode as I hadn’t seen that one yet. I don’t know if I will go back and watch as I hate commercials and don’t want to buy it. I will enjoy reading everyone’s comments.

Now to the second part where Will meets Frankie and they're both trying to bring in Standish. Will's sprinkler salesman bit at the bar definitely brings out the wacky facial expressions from Jai and Frankie. Of course, at that point we had no idea that the bartender was going to become a team member! There have been so many times throughout the series that I've admired the choices that the director made in terms of camera shots. The slow motion shot of Frankie throwing the explosive through the bar window is one of those choices. Very artistic! Now I feel like it's time to start keeping score! Frankie manages to handcuff Will to the bar rail - ADVANTAGE Frankie! We meet Standish for the first time and he's a hoot! I LOL'd time and time again over his comments. When Frankie has Will in cuffs in the front seat, they exchange derogatory descriptions of the FBI and CIA and Will has to amend his "jock strap" comment because Frankie is female. Standish offers "sports bra." Then, "Lot of sexual tension in the car." After a night in a warehouse, they're headed to a helicopter when Dimitri blows it up and we have ADVANTAGE Will! I got a kick out of the Newlywed Game in the car to get past the border patrol, but then Frankie slams on the breaks and gets Will's gun. ADVANTAGE Frankie! Will and Standish in the trunk with Standish fishing for the cuff keys in Will's pocket was hysterical! Then Frankie meets up with Jai and I find it interesting that they hug each other. Frankie says he's the only person she trusts but Jai tells her she really has to stop pushing everyone away. We definitely get the picture of Jai and Frankie as besties and Will and Susan as besties. Then Frankie brings Will food and he jumps her and chokes her out. ADVANTAGE Will! When Will and Standish get on the train, we get some interesting background on Frankie as Will talks to Susan. Loved the timing of Will saying he's glad they shook Frankie as she reappears with, "Miss me?" Another LOL moment, as was the two of them drawing their guns on each other and Will clarifying, "That's my gun, by the way." Susan informs them that there's a bounty out on them and that's the turning point where they're now working together to survive.

As Will and Frankie have their first fight together, I appreciated the change in tone. "Well done." "You too." They really CAN work well together! I was shocked when Frankie got shot but so glad Will was most concerned about her. As they break into Ray's place, I loved Will's explanation - "You remember my sexy British friend? She'd say Hi but she's lost a lot of blood." Will is all about saving her. That whole surgery scene is one of my favorites in the series. The quick dialogue and the emotional intensity of both actors was outstanding. "You said there was no bad news." "Yeah, I thought you'd be unconscious by now." I love how the camera got in so close on their faces. It really did heighten the intensity of the emotion for me. When Will told Frankie to look at his eyes - I MIGHT have SWOONED a bit myself!!!! Frankie says, "You better give me a cute scar!" and I have often thought about just how much I'd have loved a scene in season 2 when Will gets to see that scar! I kind of choked up when Will said, "I'd hate to lose you just when things start to get interesting." One of the things I just adore about the show is how I can go from laughing out loud to being all tensed up and then be a puddle of mush, all in the same episode. Standish had some LOL moments in this part too. First, when he passed out during the surgery, and then when Gigi walked in and he says, "Ah, Hell no." I BURST out laughing over that one! I thought the twist with Ollerman being the bad guy was a surprise, and as the series continued, I was even more surprised that he was still alive. I had my doubts about Ray surviving too, but since Ray had called for backup, I suppose the help got there in time to save them both. Through all of that drama, Frankie and Standish both get to be heroes. Frankie with her exploding Tampon from Jai, which was hysterical, and Standish with his kick of the knife. Will's knife skills also made him a hero! Imagine that! Team work got the job done! So a new team is born and you can tell from the start that it's going to be a bumpy but FUN ride!
