Is anyone watching Whiskey Cavalier? It's starting here today and I was considering watching it. I've just seen an advertisement for the first episode and it seems it might be fun.
If there's someone watching, do you think it's worth a while?

I'm addicted to Whiskey!!!!!!!!! Seriously, I haven't felt this way since Castle started!
I adore this show! Three weeks into it I purchased a season pass from iTunes so that I could watch the episodes over and over. One of the things I truly enjoy is the sharp humor in the show. It reminds me of Castle in the sense that it's way more sophisticated than sit-com humor and they often have the greatest non-verbal reactions too. Personally, I feel the chemistry between the leads is fantastic though I've read comments from others who haven't felt there was much. I love that the 2 leads are equals in their crazy good spy skills but they have totally opposite approaches to cases and life in general. What's starting to happen is that they're coming to accept and value the differences between them and have acknowledged that there's a definite "connection" between them. It's been the perfect tease of romance mixed in with the action and comedy.
I also think the 3 supporting team members are a hoot! They have very distinct personalities and it's been delightfully entertaining to watch the 5 of them all try to become a team. The show is filmed in Prague and the scenery in each episode is fantastic too.
Whiskey Wednesday is the highlight of my TV week and I'd be more than happy to discuss it here with anyone else who's watching!

I've just watched a very short ad for the show and also sensed a Castle feel to it. I'm definitely going to watch it.

I'll admit, that I wasn't entirely sure about the show after the first two episodes, but it has really grown on me during the last two. Both the episode where they meet Emma and the baby episode got me hooked. The show is fun and the characters have a lot of heart. I've been a Scott Foley fan for years but it's Lauren Cohen who has really won me over. And I agree with nathanfan that the secondary characters are starting to come into their own and make me care about them. I don't even hate Ray anymore! Even better, is that the show is relatively kid friendly while still being entertaining, because my daughter absolutely LOVES it, so it's fun that it's a show we can all watch as a family.

That's great, ProudTVJunkie! With Absentia, I have to wait until my son goes to bed to watch it (he is 10), so it's good to be able to watch this one with him and earlier . Do you think it'll have a Season 2?

joana, My daughter’s 9 and Absentia is definitely something I watched without her. I enjoyed it but it was way too dark, intense, and violent. Last week my husband and I were watching 9-1-1 on FOX, a great show but it can get quite intense. Kate was in bed but got up to use the bathroom (you have to walk through the living room to get to it) just in time to see a woman get stabbed by her abusive husband. She screamed and ran back to the bedroom where we had to go and calm her down and promise to stop the show so she could get to the bathroom! As for Whiskey Cavalier, If I remember correctly, it’s the pilot that might have some mildly questionable moments including an exploding tampon (which went right over my child’s head), and I think Will’s ex is shown in lingerie. Much of the violence on the show is that sort of fun, spy violence and nothing most kids would find scary. The show has lots of banter and much of the scenery is gorgeous as it was filmed on location in Europe. Of course, every kid is different but so far I haven’t had an issue with Kate watching it with us. As for season 2, the show has good buzz so I'm hopeful. We'll probably know for sure in the next month.

It happened yesterday with my son, too. We were watching the news while having dinner and it was showing the first image of a black hole. In the news, they were explaining that the orange light were celestial bodies that were falling into the back hole and my son commented "so, if there are people in those planets, they are now falling into the black hole??" And he got scared I'll try seeing Whiskey Cavalier with him and see how he reacts. He is used to see movies with us and enjoys it. For instance, we watched "The Butler" with him and in the middle of it I was regretting it but he enjoyed and there was no harm done . Let's hope for a season 2!

Thanks for doing this, PTVJ! I'm aching to talk about the show with people! I'm really enjoying the music in the show, especially the use of iconic oldies. They used Sonny and Cher's "I Got You Babe" in the wedding episode and in the show last week, they used the Turtles' "Happy Together." Both were sung in a foreign language but for most of the older viewers, I bet they knew the words perfectly. The best one though, IMO, was last week's use of the song, "Sharing The Night Together." All of these songs have been spot on in underscoring what's happening between Will and Frankie. I think the writers are doing a wonderful job of letting them slowly slide into knowing and understanding each other and eventually realizing that they can't imagine their lives without each other. There were so many early signs of that last week. It was delightful to see them sitting next to each other and drinking wine, totally comfortable, even with the shoulder massage. Even after they got away with the plutonium, it was Frankie who realized that Will needed the closure of also capturing his old Marine buddy and so she made it happen for him. I also loved the final toast scene at the bar from last week's episode. Will and Frankie are left together and quietly acknowledge that what they had in Spain was much better. That was a loaded remark because the subtext was that their evening together was pretty special! Another aspect of the show i've enjoyed is all of the little reveals about Will and Frankie's pasts. We've learned that Frankie's an only child, she toured Europe and dreamed of marrying a Backstreet Boy, she was a girly girl growing up and she dreamed of having a little girl of her own. She said last week that she used to go for the bad boys but seems to be saying that she's seeing a change in herself. She's also become more playful and seems to really care about her team members - even though she initially swore she never would! We now know that Will was a marine and did 2 tours in Afghanistan. We also know that his mom and dad are still alive and would love to have grandchildren. He'd like to be a dad and still believes that his soulmate is out there somewhere. I'm hoping that we continue to get bits and pieces of their pasts. I'd especially like to learn how each of them became spies. We still have a lot to learn about the other team members too. We now know that Susan is divorced and seems to doubt that you can have a lasting relationship with the job she has. We have a lot to learn about Standish and Jai and Ray too. One tidbit that I found interesting is that they used the true backstory for both Standish and Tina last week. In reading up on the actors, I realized that what they said about where their characters are from is their true story. Scott Foley's wife, (who plays Tina), is actually from Poland but moved to New York around 3 years of age and Tyler Williams, (who plays Standish), is from Yonkers, NY. I've looked ahead and there's an upcoming episode where Will and Jai get captured and Frankie has to take point on saving them. It's also mentioned that Will tries to bond with Jai during their time in captivity. I would think we might learn more about both men through that scenario and I'm dying to see how things play out between Will and Frankie after the rescue. Now that the show has its own thread, I hope all of you who are watching will join in the discussion weekly!

Well, last night was the episode I was looking forward to in terms of learning more about the characters and that certainly turned out to be true! The overall theme was definitely leadership and Frankie proved to herself and the rest of the team that she had what it takes. However, Susan is still essential to making Frankie see that she needs to be more positive. It was definitely tense with Will getting captured and initially, it threw the whole team for a loop. While they were all determined to get Will back, their anguish and frustration got the best of them, making it very clear that they all really do depend on Will. I was sure impressed with Will's ability to deal with a bad situation and manage to have a big part in his own rescue. He really is a smart and capable guy but I was also moved to tears as he laid on the gurney and talked about his family, hoping he saw another Christmas and not wanting his parents to have to go through losing another child. He's such an interesting character! I hated the part where he got zapped twice. Gross! The plot line of Will and Jai bonding was so well played. Jai's resistance to Will's efforts to bond was no match for that monologue Jai had to listen to. Jai's facial expressions were wonderful as he took on the burden of Will's last wishes. Then, in the end, it was hysterical that Jai gave Will a dose of his own medicine. Be careful what you wish for Will Chase! Jai gave him all the bonding he sought and more - at 3AM! These are all such finely crafted characters and the actors are fabulous at breathing life and attitude into them, especially with just body language. The other thing that makes this show so entertaining for me is the way they incorporate the humor throughout the episode. The talk about Will's white ass and who saw it was so funny and then he calmly states that he's going to need some pants, Standish and his fight training and the grenade, You've Got Mail, Will and Jai with their redundant comments, the list just goes on and on. Bottom line is that I find this show delightfully entertaining on all fronts!

Decided to try this show based on everyone's comments and really quite enjoying it. I'm limited to watching via ABC's online app, was able to watch pilot and episode 2 when I started watching, then was locked out of ep. 3 and 4, but able to watch ep 5 to 8....I'm hoping ep. 9 (Apr. 24) will be available to me sometime next week....

I sympathize with you, Fjordmom. While I did watch every episode live, I couldn't go back and watch them again until at least a week later because of ABC's lockout. I solved the problem by buying a season pass for the show on iTunes for $24.99. BEST money I've ever spent because I've devoured the episodes over and over! I also figure that if the show doesn't get renewed, I'll still have all 13 episodes to enjoy!
