They say 'absence makes the heart grow fonder,' so let's hope we all come away from tonight's show with a happy smile on our faces.
Please share your reaction with everyone after you watch the episode.

Maybe half a smile.
The show felt a little more like our old Castle, but still not quite hitting the mark. I was okay with the fake separation idea, thought they should have gone with that to begin with. But not happy with the fighting, supposed other dates, etc. Just don't think it was necessary to introduce that. They were separated and maintaining some distance between them, and that could have continued. Don't need to introduce all this other stuff into it.
Aside from that, this was a good episode. I enjoyed the a cappella aspects, especially Jon Huertas' performance. I enjoyed seeing Martha more involved, would have liked to have seen more of Lanie. And I actually picked out the killer when Kate first interviewed them!
Hopefully we're on our way back to the show we all fell in love with.

I enjoyed the show but I don't think it was a case of absence making the heart grow fonder. I think all of the disappointment and discontent from the fall, combined with the long hiatus has left me less invested in the characters I've loved. I watched like a casual viewer and was nicely entertained. It still kills me that this show has gone in the direction it has, but I think I'm coming around to letting it go and simply taking what I'm given.
A perfect example is Castle and Kate both making up stories about seeing someone else. The characters I've loved would NEVER be doing that at this point in their relationship, but rather than focus on the character destruction, I can take it all for the laughs it provided, especially since both Kate and Castle seemed to be making light of it too. I do have to say that I'm glad Kate also concocted a story about Dr. Livingstone so that it wasn't just making Castle look like the bad guy. Ryan and Espo made it clear that their loyalty would remain with Kate but it was fun to see them gobsmacked when she hustled out for her hot date with the doctor at the end. I did feel that the yelling and slap that Kate delivered early in the episode were over the top. There wasn't anything in the story to set up such a harsh reaction IMO, but again, it was played for laughs.
It was nice to see Martha a little more invested in the case and the slap at the end was great. Susan really has a deep voice when she sings too!
One of the scenes I really enjoyed was when Castle and the boys needed to get into the vic's photo account. Ryan and Espo were a hoot as they told Castle he could not do that, all the while nodding vigorously that he should. Then, when Kate came out, their stumbling response of - you don't want to know - was great too. This fake separation definitely leaves Ryan and Espo in the middle and I have to believe that something will have to give sooner rather than later.
The best thing about the opening bedroom scene was that Kate reaffirmed that she would include Castle in all LokSat info from now on and that they'd take them down together. Now, if only they'd kept the integrity of the Beckett character in tact, I could believe it! She'll have to show me through her actions at this point.
I thoroughly enjoyed the A-Capella musical performances and thought the way they changed the opening logo and music was well done to reflect the episode. This one had a new writer and a new director and I think they did a very good job of producing an (honestly) "fun" episode. I do believe I'll even watch this one again. That'll be a first for this season!

I really enjoyed this episode. First time writer and 2nd time director gave us the first hint of the old Castle fun. I loved the a Capella singing. They found some great young talent for that part and Jon was finally able to use that musical theater major. I didn't think I would like the fake dating other people thing but we know that they are just playing this role and they are really having fun again sneaking around to get together. As long as Beckett really does keep Castle in the loop this time and tells him everything I will be ok with this. I was glad they both have told the boys they are dating someone and it was not just Castle. I read in one preview that Andrew Marlowe was back in this episode as an executive consultant. Maybe that is why it felt like old times? If they can keep this feel up with Caskett I will be fine with the show.

So my thoughts....Not overly great, not overly bad either. I enjoyed it enough to hope that they might be heading back to form.

I agree it's beginning to feel a little like the old Castle. Martha was great; the singing was great, and the overall story wasn't bad either. The fake separation scenes were entertaining, knowing it's not real. Both did seem a little too hard in trying to make it look like they were fighting, though.

I honestly don't understand how watching Castle constantly be thrown under the bus by Kate and the boys was supposed to be fun. Did I miss something?

Why does he have to be made the "cheater" in all this. I didn't find that fun or funny. This whole fake separation was Kate's idea and I hate that she's fine with letting her husband look this bad and be hated by their friends. It's not fair and I expected better. Yes, the episode was good in other ways. I love anything with Martha and the singing was a neat twist but the over the top slap and the cheating story bothered the heck out of me! It made everything else hard to enjoy.

I found it ok better than previous but not on par with what it could be, I think them secretly dating should have been form the start, I am hoping they grow from this episode to be a much better second half, we will just have to wait and see

I have mixed feelings as well. The laughs were great, as was the intimacy between Castle and Kate, but I just couldn't help but feel bad for Ryan and Espo. Right now, they feel genuinely torn up and concerned about their friends' marriage, all the while, they are being played. I just don't like that, especially because it seems like Ryan and Espo are the only people Castle and Beckett are trying to convince of their breakup. Do they have reason to believe Locksat has bugged the precinct? If they want Locksat to believe they are broken up, they have to be willing to land on Page 6 with some kind of public meltdown.
Otherwise, the case was really good, heartbreaking in fact, given the undercurrents of second chances, corruption, conspiracy to cover up a crime, and the advantages of privilege.
I loved the singing, especially from Martha, who I would love to hear more from. What an opening scene!
And yes, seeing Caskett united and committed to each other warms my heart. I'm not thrilled with the prospect of this fake break-up lasting another half dozen episodes, but hopefully we get more of them together to help balance it out.

Glad that Beckett & Castle are back, even if in secret. But I'm concerned about how Ryan & Espo will react when they finally find out this was all a charade. Not to mention Martha and Alexis.

I enjoyed the episode. It was to me,several steps up from what we have had this season. The lighting and production values alone made it a better show. The interaction was more ensemble cast type which was also a plus for me. TCOTW was interesting and full of twist.
The real payoff was Caskett gathering a head of steam. Stana and Nathan both looked great and appeared to put forth enough skill to make me believe in the couple again. Monster big for me.
For the first time in a long time I have hope again!

Marlowe should hang around or better still, take over...it needs his touch. Based on the low ratings, the sooner the separation is over, the better.

DADDY LIKEY !!! I'm with you, arky. For the first time in ages, I really LIKED this episode. We FINALLY had Rick and Kate on the same page. We had a little of them bouncing theory off each other. We enjoyed all of it. It was so nice to see that remarkable chemistry again. I enjoyed the COTW and all the characters. For us, this episode was a bit like old times and we are completely happy with that. I hope the rest of the season builds from here.
