They have been telling us Castle would be off until Feb. I just saw an article that said they will now be back Jan. 4, 2016. I was hoping they would stick with the Feb return. We have had some great episodes in Jan that got very low ratings.
Tonights promo said Castle is now returning Feb 1st.

Just wondering if that means back with NEW episodes or just back on. I thought I saw a quick promo for some kind of a baking show that'll be on in the Castle spot for 4 Mondays through the holidays so they might just fill January with some reruns.

Thanks for sharing this. Does anyone have a clue what might have lead to this change?

The announcement seems to indicate that the 4th is the winter premiere.

From what I can tell, Castle is coming back with new episodes on January 4th along with a new season of The Bachelor. This is definitely a change a plans from what ABC had originally said it was scheduling. I'm really unsure if it's good news or bad news.

Maybe someone realized that the 2 half seasons didn't really fit when it wasn't planned for when filming began. The other ABC shows that do this plan on 2 semi-stand alone half seasons and run more than just 8 episodes in the front half. Haven't read the articles about this but I imagine they'll do the usual run of a few episodes in January, load February for sweeps, then do a 6-8 episode continuous run April-May.

You may have a point about that. Once Upon a Time and Scandal both write their seasons as two distinct arcs because they know they've got that huge break in the middle. I'm not sure Castle was told to expect that this year.

Well, on the other hand, ABC did cancel some of their new shows too, which may have necessitated some schedule juggling to compensate.

Though it would certainly explain a lot about how this arc was set up
