So, what does the Nose know? Let's see if she can help our separated Dynamic Duo get closer together. Let's talk about it after the show.

I mostly liked this episode. It was a fun episode, and Mia was a hoot. I loved the interaction between her and Castle. And she was a fan of Martha's work! How fun was that!
I liked the Hayley character better tonight. She was friendlier, and more willing to work with the team, even though it was for her own agenda.
Not so happy with the discord between Espo and Ryan. We've got enough of that going on already. And don't even get me started on what happened with Kate and Rick tonight.
How is this in any way protecting Castle? She's not exactly keeping her distance, even though she's not living at the loft. Can we PLEASE just be done with this arc already? (I realize that's more of a rhetorical question since they've already completed these first 8 episodes) I really hope that they are back together at the end of this fall arc.

I really do hope that the arc ends at the mid season hiatus! Though I'm more forgiving than most on Beckett, and don't think she's being selfish at all, I want it over too. I have only cried at two other episodes of Castle, this one at the end teared me up.
i actually liked the episode until the end. Then it was heart wrenching.

I didn't hate it. Guess I'm so used to the Becketts sad malarkey that tonight I just ignored it. Under different circumstances I'd be on here saying how funny I thought most of the episode was.

Thanks to Nancy KIU’s writing and to Steve ROBBIN’S direction, I enjoyed the amusing romp and the touching scenes of THE NOSE, 8x05!!! My appreciation to the entire, regular and guest casts—and to the entire CASTLE crew and team!!! Stana/Kate and Nathan/Rick were again faultless!!! His scenes were fun, touching, and convincing—with excellent guest actor, Stefanie WEIR, as the nose lady with her hyperosmia and assertions that BECKETT’S pheromones are off the charts, attracted to you!!! “The Nose,” despite her sarcasm, warmed to living in the world and to crime solving—appreciating Rick as mentor, who later arrived bearing flowers, concern, support, and theater tickets to Martha’s latest play—well played, Nathan, and appreciated, too, by the epi’s author!!! Susan/Martha continues to be perfection!!! She steamed a tasteless, odorless, meal, as her son requested for Mia, her fan?!!!---and ordered takeout for her and Richard!!! What fun we all had with that veteran of that off, off, Broadway/New Jersey performance, “Don’t be a hater; it’s the power of the theater.” Stana, as the writer live-tweeted, broke with her emotional moment before entering the loft to get more of her things and also revealed so many emotions in one look and in one whiff!!! From Kate’s, “Are you okay, Rick?” and hug; her smiles for him; and her and their delight in their crime-solving mind melds, she, we, and Rick know, as does Mia, the nose lady, no scents needed, her love for Rick is the genuine article!!! Captain BECKETT, in her comic turn, with “no ifs, ands, or buts,” sent RYSPOSITO to couples’/partners’ therapy!!! How poignant Kate lingering over and inhaling the odors of Rick’s jacket—and his reveling in the scents of the NYPD t-shirt, Kate so obviously left for the Rick, who, I believe, knows that to him, their home, and their marriage she longs to return!!! I was also happy to hear that the Van GOGH would be museum displayed, while its rightful ownership is investigated!!!

Overall, I have very similar feelings to last week. It would have been a delightful episode to be watched over and over if it weren't for the needless separation. I can tell you how IT smells! It STINKS! I accepted the return of Hayley and thought it was well done. Her interactions seemed very appropriate and logical for someone who'd been hired to recover the stolen property. I didn't miss Alexis at all. Her brief appearance at the loft was fine - maybe she's actually attending some college classes. Loved seeing more of Martha! It was great to see her get some kudos for her acting and even her much-berated cooking skills turned out to be valuable. Crack Shot Ryan and Assposito were quite the pair tonight. I was a bit surprised that Espo got the promotion and Ryan didn't. It'll be interesting to see just where this goes. The shooting was a good source of comedy and I enjoyed their pain! The boys are definitely going to have to find a new balance between them if one's a Sergeant and the other a Detective. As I suspected, there was no carryover on the deal that Castle made with Ryan last week to be an informant. That was a relief. How sad is this? Instead of talking about Castle and Beckett in the episode, I'm left to reflect on Castle and The Nose. Once again I'll say that if TPTB think this is Kate and Castle solving crimes together, they're definitely high on something! One minute in a parking garage is about as lame as it gets. Moving on ....... I really liked The Nose character because she showed good character growth. I thought she was very well written and I liked all of the interactions with Castle. There was the fun of decontamination and then the LOL polluting of her apartment ( ) followed by the fun of her capturing the suspect in the trunk of the car and starting to enjoy life. Her demand for food and the great scene at the loft with Martha brought her firmly into the real world and had me liking her as a person. The final scene where Castle brings her the paper flowers was wonderful. He appropriately acknowledged her growth and she was very gracious in her thanks to him. Using her voice over for the final scene of Beckett taking more from the loft and both of them smelling each other's clothing was a nice choice and it played out in a heartbreaking way. However, that being said, I wasn't at all emotionally invested. I didn't tear up and my biggest response was to swear at Beckett. I have no empathy for her at all thanks to the ridiculous premise that this separation is based on but I won't continue to beat a dead horse. In the weekly roundtable, Christine usually asks if anything in the episode disappointed you. Besides the obvious overriding Caskett issue, I was disappointed that we didn't get more of a reaction or extended scene when Kate asked if she could come by the loft to get the rest of her things. I wanted Castle to engage her and not just amicably agree. I feel more confrontation is warranted! I enjoyed seeing Castle take down the gunman at the loft and land a few good punches because so often we see him bumbling in those kinds of situations. He also protected the women by ordering the gunman to keep the gun pointed at him. And may I also say - Nathan looked DROP DEAD GORGEOUS as he leaned on the bar when the nose was eating! Holy Hair Porn, Batman!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WHEW! Pardon me, I need a moment ........ Bottom line - without Caskett, it can still be a good tv show but it's not special or magical any more.

Loved Mia. Loved Mia + Castle. Loved Martha. Liked Hayley for a change. Liked Captain Beckett. HATE the bumbling idiot Ryan regressing into a freshman detective just for laughs at his expense which also means the gags with him and Esposito were irritating instead of funny.
My brain cannot reconcile Stana's performance in this ludicrous B-movie flick plot-line. She needs and deserves a better series to star in.
Tied with season 7 as the worse season so far after 5 episodes but with room to recover. The challenge with season 8 is the separation taints every episode it touches. At least with season 7's "The Disappearance" they're still together and the kidnapping could be ignored.
I think Mia explains it best if we paraphrase her words at the end. "I've spent my career manufacturing the aromas of love for perfumes and colognes but they're all just forgeries like [season 8]. What [episodes 1x01 to 6x22] had, now that's the genuine article."

Honestly, I don't know what to say, think, or feel. And for me, that is saying a lot. Kate is so far gone and the wall that she has put up is strong. Will she ever let Castle even touch her again? Pheromones of not. She just is not caving. How can she justify thinking that by leaving her husband alone that it will save his life? If they want him dead, he will be killed. She cannot stop that. They got him and put a bag of spiders on his head and then were going to kill him anyway until Kate came in. These people know who he is. HOW DOES ONE GET TO BE SO NAIVE? And will this happen again? Castle's step mom tried to warn her. The life you choose carries all the baggage with it. All the loneliness, the pain and and the guilt of reaping what you sew. And it gets easier everyday she stays away. I mean, Rick is washing his hair with shaving cream. Bravo Kate, break his heart into a million little pieces and pretend like you don't even care. ( I didn't feel the pain tonight in Kate....did you?) However Rick did buy a new Ferrari, so it can't be all bad. THEY DON'T EVEN TALK ABOUT IT!!!!I WANTED A CONFRONTATION SO BADLY TONIGHT! DAMN IT!!@!!
The push and pull inside her must be killing her. So when does it end?
And you can see the writers are trying to ease them back together in bits and pieces.....but in the early episodes they were not married.....I don't see the tension....the playfulness.....just zombie versus the class clown. I and then the question arises as to whether Kate can ever be trusted again? FOLKS... WE HAVE ISSUES HERE. AND IF CASTLE GOES TO THE DARK SIDE, THEN WE REALLY GOT A PROBLEM. "Where have you gone Joe Dimaggio?...A nation turns it's lonely eyes to you." "Jolten Joe has left and gone away...." And so has the magic here on the show.
All this stinks and any NOSE can smell it.
Clearly, we were treated to the greatest ending that never was. Loves the voice over of Mia....but that ain't getting it done. Just another dagger we have to endure.
Storyline was good. Nathan stole the how again, showing how much he has grown and Kate has regressed. He is the star of this show until further notice. Comedic genius (Sterilizing in the chamber and Passing Gas) and Genuine good guy. He is still so perceptive, he took Mia apart in seconds and told her who she was. Sound familiar? Rick and Kate actually got 2 minutes working together. Need more or that.
I found the ass shooting hysterical, but felt the pain...LOL. Poor Jimmy. Can't catch a break.
Mia was fabulous. Martha a welcome breathe of fresh, who by the way, is the voice of reason for both. Just enough Alexis and Ryan and Espo may have to get couples counseling as well. I found it odd that Kate would recommend that option to them...talk about the pot calling the kettle black. Jeez. And speaking of Ryan....just run for Captain...you can do it. Hayley is good character, but who cares?
So...now we get 3 weeks off...we have been loyal and patient...TPTB have been anything but in tune with the show "Castle". C is my grade for the episodes we have scene. Lets hope they come back in 3 weeks with new scripts and new attitudes toward the show.
I AM TIRED OF NO CASKETT......THE SHIP IS SINKING....PLUG THE LEAK.

Overall, the episode was good. Mia was a hoot, and Martha delivers, as she always does. I liked the Boys, but this ep did portray Ryan as a bumbling guy.
The only thing that brought this episode down was the separation. There was a nice scene of concern and a hug...and did my ears deceive me? I thought Kate called him Babe at the precinct when Mia wanted Castle to take her somewhere to eat.

I found it better than previous episodes, but feel it could have so much better with them together, this to me was a good episode, it had the humor, Martha was great, as well as the boys, I felt terrible that Ryan did not get the promotion, and felt they did make Ryan to be a not on his game, I can only hope that they are together before the hiatus

I loved a lot of the humor of this episode, although farting and butt jokes are a little crass for this show, I think. Then again, that seems to be the direction they're headed. I do like physical humor, though, so LOL with Ryan unintentionally hitting Espo's cane and causing him to crumple. So, last two eps, I'm left crying...geez, what a great show ... I'm babbling here but don't have enough time to go into detail (I know, you're all saying, thank g*d ). The soft, caring side of Rick with the nose lady was truly marvelous....but all I feel is BLAH when I hear Kate say, babe, or Kate and Rick "hug"....it's hollow, empty....and that's how I feel about their relationship ... I think it's time to just end it. Throwing us a small bone with a minute of them spinning theory is getting tiresome. I get the feeling that Nathan prefers the slapstick, over-the-top humor, so be it...I'm not interested, particularly if they keep Kate and Rick separated. I would, however, LOVE to see Stana in a new venture where she could really sink her teeth into something (obviously not going to be a hickey on Rick's neck this season)...like a female Philip(pa) Marlowe!!!!! Enough negativity. Tomorrow is another day.

So my thoughts...Mostly meh. While it did have its humorous points, I just didn't enjoy it as I normally would. The split is just getting more and more depressing. I wish there could have been a more substantial conversation concerning Kate's taking the last bit of her stuff from the loft. Symbolically she is literally taking away the last bit of herself from him, single shirt not withstanding, and the only thing we get is a broken "okay." I was kind of hoping that he would at least get a chance to confront her but, instead he is left with a single shirt to "remember" her by. Definitely, not a positive note. While I am going to try to stay hopeful that things will be reconciled by the fall finale, I really am beginning to dread what is meant by another game-changer.

My question is...What happened to Rick Castle? He's the mystery novelist who always wants to know the story. So why is it that his wife walks out and he's not interested in that story? He's not asking questions. He's not trying to figure out why. He's simply decided that if he can prove to her that he's a brilliant investigator that she'll magically come back.
I've watched seven plus seasons of this show. Why do I feel like I know the character better than the current writing team? Am I the only one?
