Hi everyone
So it appears that it may actually be happening this time. I know that one of the reasons that the old board came into being was because of the uncertainty about whether ABC would continue their message board. Then there was that very brief experiment when they tried to get us to use a 'twitter' style discussion. Exactly how much detail can you get into with those limitations? This from someone who is 'social media challenged'! And given that for some time now getting onto that board (if at all) has been extremely frustrating.
So for me that article from Stana is even more welcomed for the upbeat news that it conveys.

I've been reading that several people have now been told that ABC will shut down the board in August. While I hate to see a piece of history go, I haven't enjoyed the negativity that's permeated it since the end of season 5.
One thread that has remained very upbeat and positive though, is the Sundae Thread, which is all about Nathan. I've been a part of that all along but couldn't get logged on for the past 4 months or more. I hope to encourage the people who participated in that thread to join us over here, where we have both Nathan and Stana threads and people can share pictures and links.

I can't say that I'm sorry to see it go. The sad part is that it started out as a nice place and was ruined by downers. It was the first place that I ever commented about a TV show.

Me too. I started there then really hated all the mean spiritedness that took over. So glad we have a home here!

Like many here, I started on the ABC board. I stumbled upon it the summer after season 1 and found some good friends (Hi nathanfan1!  ). As sorry as I am to see that part of the Castle history go, I stopped visiting the site long ago for the same reason as many of you, it had become far too negative to be enjoyable. If you know anyone over there who you feel still has the positive attitude we hope to promote here at Possibility For Joy, feel free to invite them over. As for the ABC.com board...thanks for the good times and R.I.P. |

I agree with everyone with regards the negativity of the ABC Boards. I discovered them shortly after the volcanic eruption that was Countdown. For me there were always topics that I wanted to read but I could never get beyond the first 2 or 3 comments of any topic before I had to leave the board and try again a few days later. Didn't improve until S5 and then slowly the negative seeped back but by then for me it was constructive criticism.
Personally I think it sad that when such a board is needed even more than ever to discuss this coming season with all the changes that is happening, fans will have to find other places which might prove elusive for people such as me who are not that techno savvy.
So happy to know that this board exists as I cannot wait to read what you guys have to say about S8. Those first reactions as you watch and then your insights, theories when you dissect the episode, magic stuff!

All these boards seem to develop a "soul" of their own. This is a very nice board, but it is evolving into a board mostly for women. There are very few men here and we are careful what we say. Very few of us make comments at all. Hopefully, it will change a little as S8 begins. Don't get me wrong. I like it here. My comments are just my observation so far.

Interesting point geezer2008, and it made me curious so I decided to go take a look at our stats. Not everyone lists their gender when they sign up, although some of those I know to be male or female from other communications I've had with them. So here is the final tally of our gender makeup... Women = 31 Men = 14 Unknown = 12 There are several members who haven't posted much over the summer including some that were the 12th's more active male participants so hopefully once season 8 begins, they will have more of a voice here. I look forward to reading everyone's opinions as Castle enters its next chapter. |

Though it hasn’t been the cheeriest place to hang out lately (Sundae thread being the exception), I’m sorry to see the ABC message board go. It’s like a piece of Castle history is being taken away, and it’s kind of sad. It’s amazing how “close” you can feel to online friends, many of whom you’ve never met, isn’t it? I’ll always be grateful for finding the ABC board, and for the life-long friends I’ve made because we “met” there. Oh geeze, I sound like such a sap. ::sniff::

Geezer I hope you don't feel too restricted in what you feel you can say here and therefore in doing so we get a distorted view of what you think. My comments are just my observation so far. , based on past experience, I can't imagine you upsetting the female apple cart....and even if you did, it might be a chance for some good discussion. Hope you will feel free to say what you want to say!!!!! I will echo PTVJ, I think a lot of people, male and female, tend to spend less time on the board over the summer. I know I do, but I'm not a male so I guess that doesn't help the statistics!!!!! |

I find it interesting to read the male point of view of the show. I suspect by your name, you are a little older than most posters. I am female however, I may be the oldest board member. I enjoy reading the different views members have. Oh, I remember when!
