Yesterday, we met my in-laws for lunch. We've seen my mother-in-law a few times (We usually hang out below the second floor balcony of her condo and chat.) But this time my brother-in-law and his girlfriend who live in Brooklyn came to visit, so we all went to the park nearby, brought sandwiches and desserts, and sat several feet apart. It turned out to be a really nice visit so I'm hoping we get to do it again sometime soon.
My Mom and step-father have sold their home, which is a huge relief. He was more or less forced to retire when his company was sold, so now they need to downsize. At first, my Mom was scared the house wouldn't sell and now that it's sold, she's stressed because the closing date is in less than five weeks and they have no idea where they will move to, but I'm sure it will all work out.
I'm really hoping to try and get my hair cut today. I haven't had it cut since February. I know masks are mandatory and I'm just hoping to get in and out fast with a lot less hair! Wish me luck.
Let us know how your week is going.

I also haven't had a haircut since February. It's really getting long! But it's kind of fun to have it long again. My stylist was in the hospital for awhile but she's back to work. She texted me in July but I told her I would just let it grow out some more. We'll see how long it gets!

She texted me in July but I told her I would just let it grow out some more. We'll see how long it gets! That had been my overall plan too, but lately it's really been driving me crazy. It's just long and straggly and I have to braid it or put it up every day and that was beginning to hurt. I found out that my stylist is out on maternity leave so I went with someone else. You have to make an appointment. Masks are mandatory and they take your temperature when you arrive. There was only me and one other person there. Salons reopened in NJ the end of June. The stylist said that the first two weeks they were packed but now it's slowed way down. She was only scheduled for 27 hours this week and she feared it would be lower next week. But my hair is now cut! I got 3 to 4 inches off. It feels great and my husband says I look several years younger with the shorter hair. So, as long as no one gets sick, I'm really happy I got it done.

First, I hope and pray for the best for those of you with ill family/friends. Glad to hear about those that have started to recuperate or have recovered! I'm trying to disengage from political/COVID and news in general (it's admittedly not easy). The headlines are so over the top and sensationalized, and relentless.....and it's hard to ferret out rational info. That's part of my grumpiness .... and the other part is the relentless heat and humidity, for weeks now! As geezer2008 said previously, many of us from more northern climes THRIVE with cooler temps and lower humidity....AMEN!!!! Please, please, please, can we have some? ? for more than 2 days at a time? ? And, hair!!!!! I'm laughing ProudTVJunkie and ibmjas at your stories... I normally cut my own hair....don't do a particularly great job in the back but not too bad....I have bangs and do a medium length blunt cut with a pair of Fiskars sewing shears. I can't stand hair on my face, so I often wear a headband or bandanna to keep it back. HOWEVER, it's been so hot and humid that I've had NO desire whatsoever to tackle a cut, and now it's so long I'm not sure I'll be able to do a decent job. Soooooo, it's still too short to french braid but I wondered if I would possibly be able to find some barrettes from years ago when I had longer hair to keep my hair back......of course not!!!! I threw them all out a few years ago because I was never going to have long hair again.......guess I'll have to have a go with the Fiskars! The good news is that all is well here, I'm having a lot of fun watching my goat herd, the two new kids have become accustomed to the older ones and I love it when they all trot off in a line to go to a different part of their grazing area. I will be getting another kid soon, probably next week. My cats are well, but the heat bothers them, too....they like to spend time on the porch when I'm out there but not so much these past few weeks. Take care everyone!

Wisconsin 61,061(+2,071) cases 998(+49) deaths
Brown County 4,264(+253) cases 54(+3) deaths
Went shopping this morning. Everyone was being careful. It was so very nice to see.
We took car in for work on Friday to dealership 2 hours away. We ate lunch at very nice place near dealer. We sat on patio with social distancing and staff were masked. We had to wear our masks through building to our outdoor seating. We had a very nice lunch and were comfortable with precautions taken. It was the first time since February that we ate in a restaurant.
We have enjoyed all the hair stories, LOL. We are both in the same boat with no cuts since February. We both have appointments on the same day at the same salon next week Wednesday. We have to sit in our car til they call us and allow us to come in the building. They assure us that they take every precaution so we are taking the chance. Rikki looks like a "wild woman" at this point. I am bald but my "islands" and the back give me the look of a "mad scientist" at this point, LOL I used a scissors on the sides a couple times but really look a MESS
I took a bike ride on Thursday and had a very nice day. I ate from a different grocery store and in a different park. I am certainly getting a tour of Wisconsin grocery stores and county parks this summer but I sure miss eating in different restaurants and bars around the state.
Book Club is this Thursday. We will meet in the same park as last month. I read Cajun Justice by James Patterson & Tucker Axum and The Hungover Games - A True Story by Sophie Heawood. It's by an English woman and the premise is "What happens when you have an unplanned baby on your own in your midthirties, before you've worked out how to look after yourself." It's honest, raw, and very sweet in its own way. I loved it. Rikki is doing the Alex Trebek book , also 2 thumbs up.
Have a SAFE WEEK

I have to laugh when I see the delivery people who read the mat and laugh and point. I have had a few bottles of wine delivered. I wonder if they noticed the mat?

PTVJ and ibmjas, I had the haircut dilemma in July before our daughter's wedding. I have short hair and wear glasses, so when it touches the frames, it's time. The place I usually go to required masks and only cut. No shampooing or other services. It was like a breath of fresh air.
My husband is doing well after his arm surgery. Today is the last day I have to administer his IV antibiotic (yay) and his midline comes out tomorrow. The staples weer removed yesterday and the stitches come out in two weeks. He'll need a little therapy to build up the strength in his hand.
Even though there are still some business closures, traffic has really picked up. Lots of businesses won't let people in the door without a mask, and shoppers seem to be abiding by that requirement. There have been a couple incidents in which someone not wearing a mask goes off on a worker asking them to put one on. It's such a simple thing to do and protects everyone.
There are now 189,443 cases and 4,347 deaths. We're still among the worst in the nation. Testing has been significantly reduced. The PAC 12 has canceled all college sports through the end of the year.

All is well on my side of Wisconsin. The number of cases has been steadily rising but we have always been among the lowest counties in the state. It's not a very populated county with many farms and just small towns. The biggest worry right now is school reopening in a few weeks. Unfortunately, there is no right answer. There are very legitimate concerns from parents and teachers. My oldest daughter and her husband are both teachers and I have 5 grandkids in school so I worry plenty about what the fall will bring. I've been creating quilts like an assembly line! I have mountains of beautiful fabric that I purchased over the past 20 years and it's so satisfying to finally have time to turn it into beautiful quilts. I've also been binge watching the Hallmark series, When Calls The Heart. I sure enjoy it and am about halfway through what they've done so far, which is 7 seasons. I'm in the same boat with letting my hair grow out. It was short with a perm for a gazillion years and now I'm ditching the perm and just letting it be straight. It's easier to just have to worry about keeping it trimmed. Y'all take care!

Fjordmom, I’m horrible with hair so I never dared cut my own. However, my 10-year-old daughter got tired of the way her side-swiped bangs were looking and trimmed them herself. Much to my surprise, she did a remarkably good job. As for my husband, he bought an electric hair trimmer from Amazon back in April and I’ve been giving him a buzz cut every two to three weeks. You mentioned your cats, my neighbor’s cat loves our backyard because we have shade over much of it, while theirs is mostly in the sun. The cat comes to lay in our grass or on our slate patio. He used to run when we came out, but now he barely picks his head up to look at us. I guess he’s much too comfortable and he knows we’re not going to bother him.

I watched this on Netflix and enjoyed it, too. Unfortunately, there are only 5 seasons available there, so I have to wait for them to add the other two seasons. Who knows how long that will take? The same thing happened with Heartland. I watched what I thought were all 11 seasons, but there are at least two more. Now I'm trying to pick shows that all seasons are available to watch. I hate being left hanging, lol.

DrvrTrnr, I’m so happy to hear that your husband is on the mend. I’m sure having them take the midline out is a huge relief. Yeah, the Covid cases in Arizona are definitely still on the rise, unfortunately. Arizona and NJ have similar total numbers as of today… Arizona - 190,794 NJ - 186,594 But so far NJ ’s cases this month have risen by 4,565 and 99 fatalities while Arizona’s have risen by 13,792 and 636 fatalities with roughly similar populations. (NJ has about a million more people than AZ, and crammed into a much smaller space.) Even with our numbers tapering off, I’m still worried that it will spike again as kids head back to school. Even with our hybrid schedule, I fear it’s inevitable until we get a vaccine. Hopefully, I’m wrong.

PTVJ, teachers in two districts are resigning because their school boards voted to reopen schools Monday. This in a state with a teacher shortage. Many parents will keep their kids home and continue online learning. I thought NJ had a lot more people than AZ, but like you said, we're a lot more spread out. Over half of the people live in Maricopa County, which includes Phoenix. That's why we have the majority of cases and deaths.
