July has just flown by. I can't believe it's the last week. I really thought this summer would drag on but, despite everything, it hasn't. Now we're all on pins and needles waiting to hear what the new school year will look like. They are supposed to announce the plan next week.
My husband works in the communication office for FedEx. There's only about six people working at the office during the week as everyone else is working from home. He runs Saturdays and he's the only one in the office then. It's a large office building and it seems he's now the only one in the entire building on a Saturday, so they shut down the ventilation system for the building. With no AC it went up to 86 degrees in his office! Luckily he has his own fan, and there's an ice machine in the breakroom, so he'd got a bowl of ice and placed it in front of his fan on his to try and cool off.
My friend who is a nurse, and had been reassigned to the ICU in April, was finally moved back to her normal job (Cath lab) last week as they only have a handful of Covid patients in ICU now. But she says there is still a shortage of PPE. They are ONLY given N95 masks when working with known Covid-19 patients. The problem is, test resutls take time and aren't always accurate. There was a patient who had tested positive, then negative, so they wouldn't authorize the N95 masks. Then he tested positive again. The patient had interacted with 20 to 30 people in the hospital by that point and now they're all at risk.
She also stressed that people are getting tested too soon after possible exposure or that they need a second test. It can take up to 14 days for the virus to work it's way through your system to be able to accurately show up as a positive result.
My daughter was very happy this week. We went to her friend's house where they have a swimming pool Chlorine kills Covid, so the two girls got to finally spend time together in the pool, while the mom and I sat next to the pool, several feet apart, and got to chat.
Okay, now it's your turn. How's your week going?

I am busy with my new project, making mats out of plastic bags. I am collecting my friends plastic bags. Then I cut them into strips and tie them together to make “plarn”. Next I will crochet the plarn into sleep mats for the homeless and mats for helper dogs to lay on when they go out. It says it takes about 700 bags to make one blanket roll. They say they are light but give a nice mat to lay on. Fleas and critters don’t like the plastic so this is good. I have rolled 4 balls of plarn. I might start crocheting soon. I am reorganizing my kitchen now that my new countertops are in. It’s hard to change after 20+ years but it’s good to change things up😎 We did get our first nice monsoon rain last week. I think my outside wild kittens must have been scared. It’s the first rain they have experienced. I think they hide out under my RV so at least they were dry. My dr. Has retired so today I had...or tried..to have a video conference “office call” with the new dr. My iPad didn’t like my browser so I tried my laptop. I got the video but he couldn’t hear me. We ended up just talking on the phone. My phone...here is something you can all laugh about but the reality is very annoying..About 4 days ago some hooker from the Austin, TX area apparently accidentally put my phone number on her hooker site. I keep thinking she will notice how her business has fallen off to zero since then as I have been getting very graphic texts and phone calls wanting prices for various services. I have no way to reach this lady as she posted my number for contact😱👀🙀👾😜😳🤬 I keep thinking they will stop. I can’t block the calls as every number is different. I do block their numbers so they can’t call back. Two calls came in during my video chat with the dr.👀🤪

Oh Tycho, you'll never be lonely again! I think you talked about making those mats before. It all sounded familiar. Sounds like a very useful item.

OMG! tycho657, I'm torn between really wanting to see those text and really not! Hopefully, this gets cleared up soon. I'm sure it was amusing at first but has to get old fast. Is there a youtube video or anything similar that shows how to make those plastic mats? I'd be curious to see how they're made.

Wisconsin
50,179(+5332) cases 906(+41) deaths
Brown County
3822(+193) cases 50(+3) deaths
Hooray, our numbers have slowed for the first time in weeks. Hope it continues We went grocery shopping today for our 2 week stock up. Both stores that we went to had signs up stating "Masks Required" We only saw 1 person at each store who refused. Over and over, the pros have said social distancing and masks. Hopefully, we will have some real improvement now.
Beautiful weather this week here. Motorcycle and car ride this week for sure.

Our monsoonal air flow has kicked into high gear. It's 113 right now and sweltery. We're still waiting for our first good rainstorm in north Phoenix. Teresa is lucky since she's in the east valley and already had a good rain. These high temps usually result in big storms.
Even though hospitalizations are declining, Arizona has 165,934 cases and 3,408 deaths. My county has 111,446 of those cases and 1,882 of those deaths. More businesses are requiring masks. I just read in the paper today that due to COVID-19, Wal-Mart and Target will be closed Thanksgiving Day and offer their best deals starting in October, proving that it's never too early to holiday shop, lol. They expect a lot of online sales this year.
Baseball is back and we wonder for how long. With teams traveling to other states, the virus could disrupt MLB's wanting to have some sort of a season. Look what happened to the Marlins players. They're quarantined in Philly and some teams don't want to play at their stadium in Florida. So far the NBA hasn't been badly affected and NFL players must be wondering what will happen when they get started.
Stay safe and healthy everyone.

I just found out my mom and step-dad are getting tested. They're selling their house and have a lot of people (painters, movers, realtors, etc.) in and out of their home. They've been careful, but now my Mom has a sore throat and cough, so they decided to get tested.
Hopefully it's nothing more than a cold. I just spoke to them on the phone and they were in the car waiting for their drive-up test. They'd been in line for 4 hours and were just getting to the front of the line!

My husband had a small lump on his left arm just below the elbow. It got bigger and his arm started to swell. He went to urgent care and was told it looked like a bug bite, and if it got worse to go to the ER. Long story short, his whole arm and hand were swollen and it was very painful. It ended up being an abscess and he had surgery yesterday morning. Of course I can't be there with him. This isn't a good time to be in the hospital. He did get tested and is negative, so that's good news. He also hates to talk on the phone but calls me several times a day and talks for 30 minutes each time, lol. I'm just glad he's on the mend and should be home in a couple more days.

tycho said: "Did they tell you what bug bit him? Hope he escapes the hospital today."
As it turned out, he didn't have a bug bite. Somehow an abscess formed under the skin. Luckily the swelling has gone down and it doesn't hurt anymore. He'll probably get released after the lab identifies the type of infection he has.

DrvrTrnr, I'm glad he's getting the care he needs so he's on the mend. I'm sure he misses you and can't wait to get home. My Mom and step-Dad got their Covid test results back today and they are negative, thank goodness. It looks like Mom just has a cold. I spoke with my cousin today. She and her daughter live in southern California. They were supposed to have a hybrid school schedule (part in-school, part on-line) but with the rise in the Covid numbers, the governor decided the state should just do all on-line school. My cousin is relieved. She's a chemist with multiple degrees and says that since so many people aren't willing to wear masks and social distance, we're going to need a vaccine to get this under control. She's seen some of the data on the vaccines being worked on. None of them are 100% but seem to be 70% to 75% effective, which she says, if enough people get the vaccine, should be adequate to stop the spread. Fingers crossed she's right!

Proud TV wonderful to hear the negative results for your family. We really need to do a major shut down again and do the start up right. I do t think they will get that but it’s the only way to control this virus. My crazy road trip travelers are on day 15. I think they will be back in Delaware in a couple of days. So far they seem to be COVID free. I watched the John Lewis funeral today. What an amazing man he was💕 They said when his body was leaving the capital a double rainbow appeared 🌈🌈 and it wasn’t even raining. Now if that isn’t a sign from God I don’t know what is. I hope many people who have never voted get out in Nov and honor this man and his many years of working on voters right to vote.

My husband was released from the hospital last night around 9:00. His left arm is bandaged from just below the elbow down to the middle of his hand. He has a mid line in his right arm so I can administer IV antibiotics. At least the swelling is way down and the pain is gone. He's just happy to be home. Hopefully everything will heal properly. I'm glad he had surgery when he did. The doctor said he could've lost the use of his hand due to the infection and swelling.
