Hi Everyone! So while you all enjoy the summer vacation and either check in with information on S8 or check for information on S8, the UK finally got the party started on May 20th so that we have S7 to watch over the summer. I am someone who will never ever forgive whoever made the decision to destroy the wedding which was surely the event that should have been perfectly realised and yet despite everything being in place, it was a 'non-event'. So I am pleasantly surprised to be enjoying the episodes so far screened. B.x

Driven Despite the reason for this episode, I enjoyed it. No way was Kate going to stay on the bridge. No way was anyone going to stop her running down to the car, so the boys didn't really try. I liked the way she tried to put her hand on the door. Was it Stana or her stunt double that dived the guy over in the yard? Badass Beckett in interrogation but not so far gone that she didn't respond when called. I don't care how well you know your partner because when they leave you standing at the altar you would surely wonder why. And so Kate's reaction was as I expected including her question to Martha. And Martha's reaction to the question is what I would have expected it to be. A glimpse of the cop who tried to solve her mother's murder perhaps as Kate made phone call after phone call trying to get a lead. And then one of the criticisms that has been leveled at the series. We have no idea (unless I missed it) the time that Kate may have spent with Martha & Alexis. It appeared that Kate went back to her apartment. Did Martha or Alexis try to persuade her to stay at the loft? Did Kate ever update them on what she had been doing to try and find Rick? Did they ever share a meal together just to catch up and support each other? And then Rick is found. Kate's initial relief that he was safe but then when Rick didn't wake to apologise and tell her what happened her questions returned as seen when he did wake up especially after evidence seemed to confirm that Rick chose to stay away. I loved the scene at the loft that seemed to show the division. Rick, Alexis & Martha sitting together, with Kate slightly apart from them. And then the end scene. The way that Kate didn't just sit next to Rick on the bed but went straight into his arms. To me, a glimpse of 'little girl lost' when her mom was murdered and there was no-one (to the best of my knowledge) to hold her, tell her that things would get better as Rick was able to do. As he has always been allowed to show Kate. That she is not alone, that he will always be there for her. B.x

Montreal The only thing worth mentioning for me is that video that Rick left for Kate. The way that it affected Rick more so than Kate somehow. For her to have proof that whatever happened to Rick was not his choice. I also liked the end scene where they agreed to wait for the wedding, but with a definite time in mind. Clear and Present Danger Loved this episode! Just so much fun. Rick and Kate on the same page, wanting the same 'fun' time with Rick actually looking like a guy who wanted his wife. The walk to the crime scene and the way that Nathan delivered those lines and then Rick just leaned into that cop. I liked that the fun wasn't just discussed at the loft but that Rick raised the subject at the precinct. My favorite scene is the 'don't answer the phone'. Again the way that Nathan delivered his lines and Stana's reaction. And then the 2nd time that Rick reminded Kate that they had unfinished business and the way the scene transitioned with Kate pushing Rick at the precinct and ending up on the bed at the loft. I know the scene was interrupted but for me it flowed. The fact that after Rick had set up the alarm system, the moment was not lost but he wanted to continue. I liked the case which for me was just the right side of not yet science fact? And then the final scene and again, Rick looked like a guy that was interested in fun time with his wife. Child's Play Kindergarten Cop is wasn't. And back to the idiot Castle that I truly despise. The only scene that I liked was the possible glimpse of the kind of parents that Rick and Kate would be by the way they talked to Jason when they found out he knew who the witness was. B.x

Meme is Murder I liked the theme of this episode, sadly the dark side of the internet and a glimpse that Kate is still not truly comfortable with recognition outside her job. I loved Rick's absolute faith in Kate's ability to get the information they needed in order to save the 2 men from becoming victims. Time of Our Lives Hated this story which for me was too far into fantasy, but I loved the characters. My favorite scene was when Ryan went into the Captain's office and then asked "What's he doing here?" The expression on his face and then Kate's reaction and Ryan just continuing. I also loved Rick trying to wake himself up at the loft with the bowl of ice. And then when Rick got back to his world and his reaction to "my Kate" and her expression. Sadly the background for the event - urgh!! And they couldn't allow Kate to wear a dress? Loved Rick's expression when he saw her though. If Jim Beckett shows up in S8 I hope that he actually has a conversation with his daughter that is a happy one and not because Kate is going through some crisis. Once Upon A Time in the West Not sure what I think of this episode. At least they were out of the city again. Again loved Rick's expression when he saw Kate in her western dress. I do hope that S8 will remember that they have an island to go to even if we don't get to see it. Agree that would it really have hurt to see Rick outdraw the guy instead of fumbling with the gun? Have Kate impressed with Rick and be able to show it for a change. Kill Switch I liked the start of the episode but it went on for far too long. Nothing really happened on the train. They should have had Espo questioning the situation more, similar to what happened in Cops and Robbers when Rick was in the bank. B.x

Enjoying reading your thoughts here.
I think the general consensus was that most of season 7 was pretty good, with a few duds here and there.
Look forward to hearing more of your thoughts as you progress through the season.

Aww, thanks motown for saying that what I wrote might be worth reading. And I appreciate your opinion about S7 as a whole.
Two things that I would like to add right now.
1) Sadly I have not been impatient for the first time since S1, episode 1, to watch live except for Kill Switch and I wish I hadn't bothered. 2) My absolute favorite episode so far of S7 (and I judge favorite as something that I can watch ad nauseam) is Time of Our Lives because I have lost count of the number of times that I have watched that episode so far.

I think I can safely say that you will have at least 2 more favorites coming up! Not going to say too much as I don't know how much you've read on Season 7 and don't want to spoil anything for you.

Motown when you're next on the board, please feel free to spoil me with the episodes you think I will enjoy. From Kill Switch onwards, I am sadly losing interest so if you have any suggestions... Indeed if anyone else wants to suggest episodes still to see I should enjoy it would be much appreciated.
Will give my opinion on the other episodes soon.

Okay, since you asked.... If the schedule in the UK is following the Season 7 schedule we had here.... Guessing you're maybe 2 episodes past Kill Switch? Which would have been episodes 10 and 11, Last Action Hero and Bad Santa. The 2 upcoming episodes that you absolutely do not want to miss are episodes 14 and 15, titled Resurrection and Reckoning. Another good one was episode 18, At Close Range, which is a Ryan-centric episode. It was a good story, and Seamus Dever was fantastic. Will be curious to see your thoughts on episode 20, Sleeper. All I will say about that is that it was probably the 2nd most hated episode of the series after 6.23 Episode 22, Dead From New York, was rather cute. And the S7 finale was done before they knew for sure that there would be a season 8. Thankfully, it wasn't the end of the show, but they did a very nice job of creating an episode that would have been a really nice wrap-up, but is now an even more enjoyable episode knowing that it wasn't the end. Enjoy!

Here's my take 1Lincoln40, I wasn't thrilled with "Bad Santa" although I enjoyed the 3 episode mini-story arc that followed it up more than I anticipated. I thought "Castle P.I." was particularly funny and "Private Eye Caramba" had a little more sexy Caskett fun. "Resurrection" and "Reckoning" are the episodes in the two-parter and it's a dramatic thriller that revisits some old villains. In my opinion, these are some of Nathan Fillion's best scenes of the season in these two episodes. I thought "The Wrong Stuff" was unique fun but I wasn't fond of "Hong Kong Hustle" "At Close Range" is another good Ryan-centric episode. I always think Seamus Dever does an excellent job with those. I barely recall "Habeas Corpse" and "Sleeper" was a disappointment story wise but certainly not performance wise so it's still definitely worth watching. I thought that "In Plane Sight" was a great way of getting Castle and Alexis to a new level in their father/daughter dynamic now that she's not a child any longer. "Dead From New York" was fun, especially for anyone who has watched Saturday Night Live and as motowncf said, "Hollander's Woods" was a solid season finale. Although I can't say Season 7 has been my favorite and I think it had a few missteps, there were a lot of solid episodes along the way that kept me happy and entertained. I look forward to seeing what you think.

Motown, PTVJ, thanks for the recommendations. Seems you both rate the two-parter as the episodes to watch. You both seem to question Sleeper. Hope to post some thoughts maybe after I, Witness.

Don't give up, 1lincoln40. All shows ebb and flow. It's how you feel after the season finale that matters. I totally agree with your thoughts about the wedding. I believe a lot of us agree with you. Personally, I thought the show took a HUGE step backwards when they did not follow through with the wedding we all felt was coming. It was a big disappointment for a lot of folks. That being said, I'll still be there when the show finally ends. All in all, it's been a magical ride, especially the early years with the tremendous chemistry between Nathan and Stana. JMO

Hi geezer
My only reason for continuing to watch is still the same reason that I began to watch this series from the first, that amazing chemistry between Nathan & Stana that still shows up most of the episodes, at least for me. So, as long as they are in the show, hopefully together on screen at the same time in the same scene, then I'm good to watch!
Sure I know that every series cannot fire on all cylinders every single episode and for me, there are very few that I won't watch again, Heartbreak Hotel immediately comes to mind and most definitely the end of S6. Sorry, still cannot bring myself to name that episode, not even number it!

B.x "Heartbreak Hotel" is one of those episodes that I wasn't crazy about when I first watched it but have actually enjoyed when I've caught the reruns on TNT. I think that's because back in season 4, the anticipation for having them together as a couple was huge so having an episode where Castle and Beckett mostly worked apart was hard to watch. Now that I know how it all works out, I surprisingly find the episode quite entertaining. However, I don't think I'll ever sit through "For Better or Worse" again. There wasn't much of the "better" in that episode and so much "worse" that I just can't stomach watching it again. I can't think of another Castle episode I can say that about.

PTVJ you just had to put the title to that episode didn't you! I think that many used other words than 'worse'! For me Heartbreak Hotel isn't that they were separated as such, just didn't like the episode. I would need to force myself to watch it again to offer a reason why.
