I'm trying to figure out where this last week went. For most everything being closed, things sure seem to fly by.
The weather has been wacky. Last Monday it was 75 degrees. Today it was not quite 50, sunny, rainy, hail, windy, cold. You name it, it happened today, everything but snow.
We bought a bunch of wonderful take-out from a local restaurant and dropped some of it at my mother-in-law's today (leaving it at her door.) Then we hung out and talked to her on her balcony until it got too cold to stand around outdoors.
As for Covid-19, our county has 3,613 with 330 fatalities and NJ has 139,945 with 9,310 fatalities. On the upside, the fatalities in my county didn't rise in the last two days, that's the first time I can say that since March. Also, the state fatalities have jumped up less than a hundred a day over the last three days. Hopefully, that's a trend things are getting better.
Also, I have a couple of family friends who have the virus and are sick but haven't been hospitalized, so that's a positive too.
My daughter and I pulled an old exercise bike we had in storage in the basement and cleaned it up. She's thrilled that she's now big enough to ride it and I figure we could both use the exercise, especially since my mother-in-law gave us a batch of homemade sugar cookies!
How is everyone else doing so far this week?

I took my MIL out to buy a new mattress reminding her to bring her mask. We got to the store and she said she never wore it anywhere, but she put it on to go in. Probably 30 seconds after we got in and started talking to a sales clerk, she took it off. There were very few in the store but we were there for a couple of hours. The clerks didn't have masks. After we left we went to another furniture store. Again she wore her mask in and almost immediately took it off. The clerk said she had a mask and would wear it if we wanted. MIL said don't worry about it. She's in her late 70s, has Parkinson's and is kind of frail. I wore my mask the whole time and even though I'm pretty healthy I like it when others wear theirs. I hear a lot of older people are like this.
Hubby and I made a great meal for his mom for Mother's Day. We visited for a while and I planted some flowers I got her. No one else was invited. We have continued to see her but as we are exposed to more and more people as things open up, I worry about doing that even if she doesn't.

ibmjas, I think people here take it more seriously because it's gotten so wide spread that most everyone knows someone who has it, or has died from it. My father and mother-in-law (here in NJ) and my Mom and step-father (in CA) are all taking this very seriously and I'm grateful for that. I think people in more rural areas feel as though this won't touch them and it's more of a coastal or city problem. I have a cousin in Tennessee and another in Texas and I get that feeling when I'm talking to them. I believe the virus got such a strong hold here because we have such a dense population that it can spread quickly and we also have three major international airports that were bringing thousands of people from overseas before anyone even knew the virus was here. But that doesn't mean it won't spread elsewhere given time, especially if people aren't taking precautions. I read this great article written by an Immunologist that explains how the virus spreads and where masks and social distancing help, and where they don't. Here's the link of you want to take a look: www.erinbromage.com/post/the-risks-know-them-avoid-them?fbclid=IwAR0rqEpK3kLmKaDXEQr99G9MMqVX2RgFogywdAjniYO5jEI7frOtF5a8U9Y

Arizona has 11,736 cases and 562 deaths. I live in the most populous county and we have 6,219 of those cases and 259 of those deaths. With more businesses getting ready to reopen, I'm afraid the numbers will increase in the next two weeks. A few of the tribal casinos are set to reopen this Friday. Their workers will wear masks and offer hand sanitizer and wipes to guests. One place will take the temperature of anyone entering the casino, refusing entry to anyone with 100 or more temperature. They will also limit the number of people allowed in at one time.
We've noticed an increase in traffic since some restrictions have been lifted. The grocery store where we usually shop had prepackaged cheese displayed where fresh meat usually is. There was a lot of hamburger, steaks, and chicken, but not much pork. Still no paper products. Luckily plenty of dairy and fresh produce is available. I hope things are improving in your local areas. Stay safe!

We are having a good week. We are feeling good and being careful.
There are over 10,000 cases in Wisconsin and over 400 deaths. As of this morning, anyone in Brown County can be tested. You need to make an appointment at 1 of the 2 testing sites and free testing is available until May 23. Rikki is going for a cancer check-up tomorrow with all precautions in place. If they do not test her, I will make an appointment at one of the county sites for us.
We are cleaning house today so it is a "honey do" day. It goes fast when we do together. I'm baking fish for dinner which I enjoy.
Stay well, my friends

They just announced all our city pools will remain closed all year. Our local theme park is supposed to open in mid-June. Not sure if that will include the water park. Restaurants are allowed to reopen at 50% capacity. Not all restaurants did though.

One thing I'm super happy about is that Nascar racing resumes this weekend! Yes, I'm a fan, and I've missed my racing. There will be no fans in the stands and everyone working will have to take appropriate precautions, but I'm thrilled to see my drivers back out there. They'll only be racing at tracks that are within driving distance to the majority of the teams' headquarters so that no one has to fly or stay overnight. That means they'll race twice at Darlington, SC and then twice in Charlotte, NC to see how it goes before expanding the schedule. I hope all goes well because I've really missed this!

I got my toe nails done yesterday😎 and also got a haircut. Boy does that feel good. They are opening pools & movie theaters this Friday. I’m lucky to have my own pool in my back yard. With our hot weather I’m glad people can go to the pools. I think opening theaters is not very wise. They had pictures of restaurants yesterday with crowded tables and no one wearing masks. No thanks, I’ll be eating at home or do take out. I’ve been watching a few movies on TV. They have been airing some good ones. Today I watched Forest Gump. That was a good one. I also watched the first a Harry Potter movie. I remember reading that to my Grandson before it came out in the theaters. CBS has been bringing back Sunday night movie night. I’m glad I can record them to watch later.

In addition to pools and theaters reopening, gyms, indoor malls, and Salt River tubing will open this weekend, as well as some water parks. Grand Canyon National Park well reopen, but visitors need to bring food and water. Restroom facilities will be open, but no overnight camping or hotel accommodations. I'm still not comfortable with the idea of eating in a crowded restaurant or even going to the mall. Too much too soon and glad we have our own pool. Stay safe out there!

Yeah, the openings of restaurants and theaters worries me because I think it spreads more quickly in indoor environments where you spend any extended period of time.
A friend of mine owns a restaurant (they're only doing take-out orders now). She said one of her regular customers is an FBI agent and he says (unofficially) that they're trying to prepare for a significant second wave in October/November.
To put the numbers in perspective, some states have as many cases as NJ has fatalities.

Stay well, my friends Sorry to hear that your Supreme Court said everything can open up and people do t have to follow the safe protocols. I saw pictures this morning on GMA with crowed bars and restaurants and no one wearing masks. Please just stay home and stay safe.

One of the great things about NJ is that you never have to wonder what someone is really thinking...

It is a total mess in WI. Because the Republican controlled Supreme Court struck down the Governor's rules, it is pretty much do whatever you want. The counties are asking for guidance from the state governor and there is now NONE. ANYTHING the Governor wants to do now has to be run by and voted on by the Republican controlled legislature. Guess what is going to happen?? It is a sad time in Wisconsin. Looks like we will be in for a L O N G time. We went for a ride today and parks were crowded with picnickers and little social distancing.
