It's Spring Break here in NJ which means no online school. My husband also has the week off as he scheduled his vacation time to coincide with our daughter's break in the hopes that we could do something fun. Well, we have a list of movies to watch and lots of popcorn! I'm hoping we're reaching the peak of the virus here soon. My town is now up to 18 cases, county is at 879 with 30 fatalities and the state has over 40,000 cases. On the upside, my friend's ex-husband was taken off the ventilator this weekend and is recovering. We're all thrilled. She said it's been tough because they couldn't go see him in the hospital and at times it felt like they were bothering the medical staff (who are understandably overwhelmed) with their phone calls but it was the only way for her sons to know that their father was still alive. He's not completely out of the woods yet and will have to do several weeks of rehabilitation because of being on the vent so long, but it's still really good news. Yesterday, we went to visit my mother-in-law, and by visit I mean we left some supplies at her door and spoke with her while she was on the balcony of her second floor condo while we stood on the grass outside. So what are you up to this week?

AMEN larryholmes. That's very powerful. Thanks for sharing it.
All is well up in my neck of the woods. I made cloth masks all weekend for all of my extended family in the area. Since they changed the guidelines about wearing them, I figured everyone should have a cool mask in case they need it. I made camo ones for the grandsons and a unicorn one for the granddaughter. The adults got to choose from a wide assortment of colors and patterns. We might as well have fun with it!

They are saying that peak in Massachusetts will be in the next 2 to 3 weeks. Although I live in a county with the 2nd largest number of COVID cases, it's a large county and we are more rural at the very northwestern fringes, i.e. not close to Boston like much of the rest of the county, so I'm hoping we are a bit "safer." There is no breakdown by town as far as I have been able to discern, so I haven't a clue what is going on in our town, but the stores are all abiding by guidelines and today when I went to the grocery store, we all were wearing masks. I am thankful we have a governor who is resourceful and really trying to stay on top of things as much as one can, putting things in motion in case of worst scenario, hoping for better. Today I bought some pansies for a punch of color, the weather is in the 60s and my daffodils are beginning to bloom!!!! I'm trying to stick to once-a-week grocery shopping, I gassed up the car today, so the rest of my time will be at home, enjoying my critters and doing some gardening!

I planted pansies yesterday, for some reason pansies always make me smile as I have said I live on Long Island our county at this point has over 15,000 cases, and going grocery is an absolute nightmare this morning there was a line just to get into the store, but then again everyone I know has there health, and I am hoping this to shall pass, quickly.

I went golfing today for the 1st time this year at a small course. It was late in the day and there weren't too many out there. It was great! 80 degrees and windy and got to see a couple of friends without getting too close. Tee times are 20 minutes apart now and the cups are above the hole so you don't have to touch the flag or cup. Afterwards I went to pick up supper. I drove by a McDonald's that I had never seen with no customers at any time but there were no customers tonight at 6:15. It's getting to be like a ghost town.

That's funny about your McDonald's ibmjas. You can't go inside any restaurants here in NJ but there were lines at the drive-thru for both the McDonald's and Taco Bell I passed by today and lots of people getting take-out from the Buffalo Wild Wings. I went to the grocery store today and this time I'd say about 70 to 80 percent of the people were wearing masks. Of course, NY/NJ is the epicenter right now so not wearing a mask feels like taking your life into your own hands. My husband and daughter came with me but they waited in the car while I did the shopping. Anything for an outing these days! They've closed all of the state and local parks which is disappointing but apparently people weren't taking the social distancing seriously, especially now that they think it can spread farther than six feet. We've been watching a lot of movies. My husband, daughter, and I each have our own lists and we rotate so we've got quite an eclectic watch list. I might do a separate movie thread to see what everyone out there is watching.

We've only had 1 death so far but our county went on a tighter lockdown, announced yesterday. It says we can only travel to go to work or for emergencies. I don't know exactly what that means and there was no clarification given. Will restaurants still be allowed to carry-out? Are more businesses deemed non-essential? I hope they clear this up.
I'm not much of a sewer and my sewing machine is not great, but I'm going to try my hand at making some masks today.

Congratulations Geezer on your anniversary❤️👏👏💕 I was scheduled to do some home deliveries for St Vincent DePaul on Monday but the phones went out over the weekend at the church so we couldn’t retrieve the messages. On Tuesday was our annual Easter Food boxes. We usually give food out to 70 families. This year it was only 22 families. I was surprised with the low numbers. We did it differently this year. We gave families a time to drive up and get their food boxes. We had people to put it into their trunks or back seats so we had no contact. This worked very well. I think we just might adopt this way in the future. I did a video chat with my doctor today. I started using a CPap machine in Nov. I needed to have my doc “see “ me so I can get supplies. My dr. Said they have had him working from home for a month as he is 70. The video appt worked well. I think I actually had longer to talk to him than I would have had in person. I did make 6 masks as that is all of the elastic I could find in my sewing drawer. I’m sure Nathanfan’s we’re far superior to mine as she is an amazing seamstress. I kept one for me and gave the rest away. The last two I gave to an older couple at the grocery store that looked like they could really use them. I hope I made their day😍 I was able to do a FaceTime with my Grandson and see my Great Grandson’s 2nd birthday celebration. His Aunt arranged to have friends drive by in a small parade of cars and drop off gifts. He was so cute. When asked “How old are you?” He would answer back very clearly “2”

geezer, we have friends in Madison who said they've been quarantined for 3 weeks (they're not sick). She also said she's glad she and her husband like one another, lol! I feel the same about my husband and me.
Our youngest daughter's 28th birthday was Monday. We had a small party for her that included her boyfriend and their 2 dogs, our other daughter and fiance and dog, and my husband and me. I made sloppy joes (her request) and a Texas cake for dessert. It was simple but tasty.
AZ has 2726 cases and 80 known deaths. The Navajo Reservation has been hit particularly hard. A lot more people in the Phoenix area are wearing masks and maintaining social distancing. Certain aisles in the grocery stores are still mostly empty (paper products, canned goods, eggs, etc.). We can still get carryout food from several places. That at least gets us out of the house for a few minutes.

geezer2008 - Happy Anniversary! I’m thrilled for you and I hope you and Rikki enjoyed those brownies. I saw what was going on in Wisconsin on the news last night. There was some assemblyman telling people in line that it was perfectly safe to vote. I don't think he saw the irony that he was in head-to-toe protective wear, including surgical type gown, mask, and gloves! Yes, it's a good thing my husband, daughter and I get along so well or we'd be driving one another crazy in our small apartment. But with my daughter on spring break and my husband off of work this week, we've had no bed times so the three of us are up late, sleep in, and then decide what snacks we want to make! I only wish I sewed but I don't. I might try my hand at making masks by cutting up an old sheet and using a needle and thread. We have a handful of surgical masks but I really want to keep them for my husband when he goes back to work next week. I spoke with my cousin in Tennessee and she was shocked that NJ had so many cases as she doesn't listen to the news much. My little town has 21 cases and the county has over 1,000 with 50 fatalities. The state is getting close to 50,000 cases. She was thrilled that she'd moved her parents down to Tennessee with her last summer. They're in their 80s and lived alone. Her mom has Alzheimer's and her dad has a heart condition and NJ would not have been a good place for them to be right now! Stay well everyone!
