PTVJ - I would have thought that as Strike was a BBC production PBS or BBC America (if there is such a channel) would have picked it up? According to imdb it's on Prime Video. Now is that Amazon or imdb? I would also love to know what those who have read the books think about the casting of Strike & Robin.
Carter - I am enjoying it. In this the mayor is a fan and insists on making Carter a consultant to the division despite the fact that the Captain objects. In the 3rd episode Carter is given a prison cell as an office. Not sure if he used to have a crush on Sam and is now trying to date her but she appears to have a boyfriend(s).
Humans - final episode coming up and I can't wait but I am also dreading it. I have loved this season more than the first two and I enjoyed those very much.

1Lincoln40 - I'm sure BBC America or PBS will get C.B. Strike at some point, but right now Cinemax has the exclusive rights to it here in the U.S. Amazon Prime has it listed but you have to have an additional Cinemax subscription which is $9.95 per month. I might invest in that for a month when I know I have the time to sit and binge watch the entire series but I can't do it right now so it will have to wait...but thanks for the heads up on that!

PTVJ - I'm assuming that to access Amazon Prime you have to subscribe so to then have to take out another subscription for another service sucks! Anyway, I hope that it's not too long before you can enjoy the series.
Ok so HUMANS ended and I'm not sure that I like the ending but I really enjoyed the series. If there is another season I'm not sure where they could take the characters.
Harrow begins on Tuesday, July 17th on Alibi...
Carter continues to remind me of Castle. The last episode has a bomb defused by just pulling on all the wires!!

Is anyone watching Sharp Objects on HBO starring Amy Adams? I heard a lot of build up about it saying that Amy was amazing. I'm about half way through the 1st episode. It's moving slower than I expected but I think I can get into it. I'll wait until my husband can watch it with me.

She's the Exec Producer for the show. I know, but I wish she were writing new books instead of producing the show. I just saw that the next C B Strike book is coming out in September!

If anyone enjoyed Downton Abbey I would humbly suggest taking a look at Gran Hotel. I believe it is available on Netflix. It is often said to be the Spanish version of DA but the only similarity would be the lovers, think Mary & Matthew and you get Alicia & Julio. It has mysteries, murders, women you would never turn your back on despite the men having control. I LOVE IT! And if I spoke Spanish or there was a version with English subtitles it would be in my dvd collection.

If anyone gets to watch Carter I hope you will post as I have lost access to the channel which shows the series. I am not the only cable customer who is not a happy bunny right now!

I am happy to report that the channels which I recently lost have been restored by my cable provider without notice I might add. I just happened to switch to the channel to see what was showing and to my delight, the channel had been restored! I was therefore able to see the penultimate episode of Carter - nothing worth noting - but I look forward to the finale as it features Jerry O'Connell's wife Rebecca Romijn and should delve into his character's missing mother.
Also if anyone ever gets the chance to watch Vera, which is a UK series, I humbly recommend it. I myself was very late to this series. It features an older female police officer, cantankerous, doesn't suffer fools, straight talker for whom solving the murder is the most important thing. Love it!

Ok, so saw the last episode of Carter and enjoyed it. If the series is not renewed it had an ending.
It goes back into Carter's missing mother. When the 3 friends were 12yrs they solved a serial killing. That killer is then murdered in jail and doubt is thrown onto the case and whether he was the killer. Rebecca Romijn plays Carter's agent and someone with whom he had an affair. She received a note to come and see him which he of course never sent. He also receives his mother's ring which she was wearing at the time of her disappearance. An old cassette is found of an interview that his mother did on the day she went missing and Carter remembers some of it. From there they get to the real serial killer. (the guy in jail did kill the last victim and just said that he had killed the other women for the attention). They know the location to start to look for his mother's body but he says to just let her sleep. He refuses to return to his show and is waiting for the fall out of breaking his contract. In the meantime he has bought his friend a coffee shop out of which he intends to run a PI business. I think I liked the last episode because it was more serious although there was still lots of humor.

If you enjoy light-hearted procedurals like Castle, this probably isn't the show for you. It was dark, depressing and to me seemed rambling and disjointed. Naturally it will probably win a few awards!

ibmjas, I was considering binge watching it because I love a good mystery but the clips I watched gave me the exact feeling that you described, that it was very dark and disjointed. Thanks for the review. Now I don't feel so bad about skipping it.

The ending of Sharp Objects seemed like they just went for shock value instead of it actually making sense. They may have been going for a Hitchcock effect, but it didn't ring true for me.

B Thanks for the heads up on Vera! I think I had tried watching it a year or two ago--only a short part of an episode--but it just didn't catch me. Based on your recommendation, I watched episode 1 last night and really enjoyed it! I did start watching episode 2 but it was really getting late and I reluctantly quit...it's hard to leave an episode hanging, but something to look forward to tonight! This should keep me occupied for a while.

Fjordmom - good to hear that you gave the series another chance. I am still playing catch-up and enjoying each episode very much. Stories are never straightforward although from time to time you can judge correctly whether someone is involved in some way. What I liked about a recent episode is that this series is stand alone stories but they changed that. A police officer was shot and killed and the follow up episode dealt with how it affected the team. It didn't overshadow the case they were working on but it was part of what made up the story.
