What an awesome video! It's pretty obvious that they're all invested in this show and I couldn't be happier!

Alright, I just finished watching all 7 episodes that I was behind on. Holy Moly. Where to start..... Perhaps it wasn't the best time to binge watch since I'm suffering with an upper respiratory infection so I'm already stuffed up, and crying off and on all day watching this show has only made it worse! LOL. Anyway....I know I'm going to leave something out but here a few of my thoughts:
Randall going to the private school.....that kid breaks my heart every week.
I enjoyed finally seeing a bit of Rebecca's and Jack's backstories, although Jack's left many unanswered questions so I suspect (and hope) we will see more of that as the season goes on. In that episode Jack obviously didn't want his father to know he was married since he pulled his ring out of his pocket as he left his Dad's house.
Gerald McRaney was awesome as usual.
I adored the entire Thanksgiving and Christmas episodes. Loved that William brought his partner. And the kid to Randall: "Dad, Grandpa's gay, or at least bi".........and the look on Randall's face.....I died laughing. Loved that Toby surprised Kate and came for Christmas. And since I was so behind on watching I had already forgotten about the cliffhanger with Toby so I was completely unprepared for that. Tissues at hand thank goodness. I laughed at Miguel on the sofa looking for all the world like he was asleep sitting straight up. I still get a good laugh when I see "Espo" as an old man.
Kate at "fat camp" was interesting and I'm not sure I am going to like this love triangle thing between Kate, Toby and the horse guy. I was hoping we could get a good bit of happy Kate and Toby being together before the obstacles came flying at them. I guess no TV show can leave a couple happy for too long can they?? LOL. Loved seeing the birthday parties and the whole Kevin/Sophie backstory. Poor Kate. Kate as a kid breaks my heart as much as Randall does. Anxious to see how the Kevin/Sophie story plays out in the coming weeks. Looks like we are slowly but surely learning about Kate's weight issues and how they go back to her childhood.
One thing I know for sure is that I am not at all ready for Jack dying. We know it's coming and probably soon and I dread it like heck.

Sorry to hear you're suffering with a cold, CF, but I'm glad you got the chance to catch up on this series. I never got around to posting my thoughts about last week's show so Ill catch up too. Once again, Jack and Rebecca go all out to make each of the kids feel special for their birthdays. The amount of work that went into 3 separate parties was crazy! Such love and devotion. Jack tries so hard to make Kate feel special and he was devastated when he couldn't fix things with her. I loved Jack bedazzling the gloves! Kevin is emerging as the entertainer and the whole introduction of Sophie as a childhood sweetheart / wife / divorcee was a real surprise. I have no idea where that story line is headed. Randall was so impressive with his self confidence. He had his best friends at his party and that was fine. Numbers didn't mean anything to him. What an intriguing person he is! It was a short lived discussion about having another baby. Good choice! I don't like the creep at the fat camp who's trying to hit on Kate and now it looks like he's going to sabotage Toby and Kate. I don't think the camp is the answer for Kate and I'll be happy if she pulls out. We got a glimpse into Jack's death and the kids looked to be around 20ish maybe. That definitely means something took him too soon. BIG QUESTION!!!! We saw what we thought was Jack's funeral at a graveyard with a casket. However, earlier, this past fall, we saw Kate watching football with her dad and he was in an urn on her mantle. Was Jack buried or cremated? ??

Good catch Nathanfan1. It would have been less money to just cremate but back then it wasn't done as much. Maybe Kate just couldn't put her Dad in the ground and still needed him closer so she talked them into cremation?

Your right! I didn't catch that. So was Jack buried or cremated? I wonder if they'll address that at some point.
I also can't stand the guy at Kate's camp, and not just because he's there to cause problems between her and Toby. People like that annoy the heck out of me. If I've just met you and told you that I'm dating someone, engaged or married, that means I have no interest in dating you. If you'd like to be a friend, that's fine, but trying to actively break up my current relationship is not only obnoxious and arrogant, but disrespectful.

Totally agree the guy is a tool. I hope Toby gives the guy a big fat black eye.

I'm bummed that we got a repeat Tuesday night. I wonder if that was a sudden change because of the Supreme Court announcement.
I stand corrected about Jack's funeral. Thanks, Tycho, for finding the clip and sharing it. I'm thinking that maybe my brain just assumed there was a casket since the setting for the service was outdoors. I can't say I've ever heard of a cremation memorial being held outside like that.
I enjoyed the sneak peek at the rest of the season in that article. Now that the show has been renewed for 2 more seasons, I'm quite sure we'll have to just be patient and let the story unfold gradually. That could get frustrating except that the performances by the cast have been so outstanding that I've enjoyed every little scenario we're given. I just wish we had more than 18 episodes!

I am sure the sudden pre-empting so that our new President could get good ratings for his announcement was why everything that night got messed up. I think all the networks ran re-runs. When I found out that they were not showing the episode I just read my book and turned the TV off.

This was not my favorite episode. Jon H did have the most lines of any episode we have seen so far so yeah for Jon. It will be interesting to see how this whole relationship works in the future with his kids and Jacks kids. We haven't heard anything about his kids except that he does have kids right?
I really didn't like Kate in this episode. She has this great guy but she treats him so poorly. They left us thinking she will soon be cheating on her fiancé. This is just so wrong!
Kevin looks like he is finally starting to grow up. I love that he has gone back to his first love. It looks like he might finally be starting to take after his father.
Randall follows his fathers example of always putting family first but it is now effecting his work. It will be interesting to see how he handles this.
