I just do not understand his tweet at all, but I wish him well, as I do for the entire cast. That series was awesome, just a shame it did not continue with the entire cast, we will probably never know what went wrong but I am so very happy it will have a happy ending.

Too bad he didn't stop after the second tweet. I have said this publicly on twitter, and this is copied from another post on this site, but I will also say it here as this seems like a wider discussion group on the topic.
I apologize it if sounds a little harsh, it isn't directed at you, Tycho I promise, but I've taken a lot of shade for not turning on Nathan over the last few weeks.
A large proportion of the fandom had been badmouthing Nathan Fillion for over a month due to tabloid rumors that he was somehow responsible for Stana's dismissal. He received zero benefit of the doubt from a fandom he not only helped create, but in fact likely would never have existed without him. A fandom he worked hard to serve for 8 seasons.
He'd been blamed since the news came down about Stana not only for the low ratings, for Stana's treatment by the network, heck, given a few more weeks they'd probably have blamed him for global warming.
Should it really be a shock to anybody that he wasn't waxing philosophical about it with us?

Shutterbug - well said. The voice of reason again - I'm glad it's not just me feeling this way as although I hadn't commented, I feel exactly as you do.

I know many fans have been going crazy the last few weeks with nasty comments on Twitter and other boards. I just stayed off Twitter for the most part. I don't blame anyone. I was just commenting that if he wanted to just stop after the 2nd tweet he might have saved himself some grief from fans. We will never know what did or didn't go on behind the set and writer walls.

Exactly. I don't blame him. He just needs to be cautious of what he says as to not fuel the fire any higher. And again.... what I don't understand is how ANYONE could think it was cool to have CASTLE go on without Beckett. SHE is equally part of CASTLE. Half of the show's success and I don't know if Nathan understands that, we'll never know, but Stana is much CASTLE the show as Nathan. In my opinion. It never would've made it to eight seasons without her. So whomever had the brilliant idea to think that it could go on as we know it without her..... and why didn't someone who could see the writing on the wall stop it. Because surely I'm not the only one who feels that Stana IS HALF CASTLE (the show). I adore Nathan, so this has nothing to do with my personal feelings for him, and I would never bash him. I would treat him as a family member who, in my opinion, didn't make the smartest choice. And yes, we only have pieces of the puzzle. Some information we will never be privvy to. But regardless, I will never not feel that letting Stana go was a detrimental business decision. Has nothing to do with my feelings for Nathan. I don't blame him, I just think it was a huge miscalculation thinking that removing half of the heart of the show would continue the heartbeat. Ain't gonna happen. And I'm no professional when it comes to TV and business. Some things you just don't mess with. And that isn't rocket science.

Without each other...they had nothing...together , they were Castle....nothing more needs to be said. The fans have spoken and ABC listened and understood. Maybe they should have listened sooner ....

I feel badly for everyone involved. They had their and souls invested in this show and for whatever reason, it all kind of fell apart. As fans, I'm sure we'll never know all of the details but I'm sure there's several sides to this story. I only hope tonight's episode gives us some sense of closure and a remotely happy ending.

While we're on the subject of Nathan.
The fact that ABC had to negotiate with him for nearly another month AFTER the news about Stana broke kinda negates that this was a sticking point in the negotiations.
If that was his demand and they met it would he not have signed before it was leaked not after?
They obviously made a full court press to get him to sign after it broke. Could it be they didn't want him to know?
Because if I were him, and I knew I'd get demonized for signing I certainly would have held out for a better offer too.

And now the REAL reason for Nathan's reduced work schedule this past season seems to have come to light, and golly it had nothing to do with Stana after all.
The day the finale aired he was in the hospital to have a tendon replaced in his shoulder. An injury which had been bothering him for the last 2-4 years, which would be right around the time those pesky rumors about him and Stana not getting along got started.
COINCIDENCE? I think not.
It would seem that Nathan may have known when he negotiated his season 8 contract that he would be going under the knife and likely had a doctor's note. Oddly enough the "Nathan haters" who speculated he was to blame for Stana's ouster are now strangely silent. In my opinion they should be ashamed of themselves.
Pain meds might also explain some of his less-well-timed tweets of late too wouldn't they?

Tweets... shweets!!! Placing ones own motives on others actions is ... well, not worth the time or effort. Lets allow things to play out,if they ever do. Explanations and excuses are just a convenient rationale for our prejudices. Time to move on.... I am looking forward to the new chapter of our favorite actors.

To be honest, it's just nice to know that there is a rational grown-up explanation for Nathan's reduced work schedule and not the junior high school b.s. that's been going around lately. Though I do feel for him, he must have been in a lot of physical pain for his shoulder to have degenerated to the point where major surgery was necessary. And then to have the fandom almost completely turn on him for something he couldn't control must have literally added insult to injury.

I fully admit that I'm as culpable as anyone in speculation and was one of those who jumped in with an opinion when Nathan first tweeted....but, honestly shutterbug5269, how can any of us be certain of exactly what happened? I imagine in all likelihood Nathan's shoulder problems could have affected his acting/attitude, etc. But does this explain, with surety, the whole picture of what happened over the last few seasons (and I'm not just talking about Nathan)? I don't think so.

I don't think so. Well you have to admit it certainly makes a lot more sense than two adult professional actors - who had been successfully working together for eight years - suddenly can't maintain a professional atmosphere in their workplace.

That is your opinion. I don't have to admit anything, nor do I want to...it would be speculation on my part. I'm moving on from this topic...I second cxq319 's sentiments -- "... looking forward to the new chapter of our favorite actors."
