Nathan sent out these three tweets just moments ago:
"All things must end. It has been an honor working with the men and women of Castle. I am truly amazed at what we’ve done. Thank you all."
"Dear Every Director, It appears I have an opening in my schedule."
"Dear Fans, In whatever project I do next, loudly notice how unlike Castle and fresh and versatile I am. Thanks."

Too bad he didn't stop after the second tweet.

No kidding, Tycho! That sure feels like he's more than ready to leave the Castle character behind. Why, then, was he willing to continue? ?? Some thoughts are better kept to one's self!

I just think that Nathan deals with things with humor. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't.

Yup, should have stopped after second tweet...sure didn't work for me. Oh well, at least it seems he will be happier being fresh and versatile and unlike Castle (although based on recent history I wouldn't want to be like Castle either)...I wonder why he couldn't be fresh and versatile being Castle? Too many mysteries....

Yes, Stana was and is a class apart in her reactions. Her twittermessages are fun & moving to read. She is really great!
Nathan Fillion's ego is clearly frustrated by the sudden end of the show. This is not funny. He seems to confirm my suspicions about his not so positive role in the whole drama.

I just think it is typical Nathan.
I don't mind the third one. Perhaps it hints that he was not entirely happy with what the writers were doing with the character of Rick Castle.
At least it was not the canned publicist drivel that was posted for the No Stana/Tamala debacle. This industry is tough. He had a 'good gig' for 8 years. It could have gone longer. Naturally he would have been extremely careful when there was a prospect of continued employment but I still found the statement extremely conservative and not his typical personal observations. These new ones seem to be 'him'.
I am keeping all my comments strictly to the actual show except to note that Nathan and Stana appear (and remember we do not, or at least I don't, actually know them) to be quite different personalities in real life.

I understand "typical Nathan", and his failed attempts at humor. I don't know... that last tweet seemed to have an "edge" or "bite" about it.... I can understand if he has a bitter taste in his mouth, I can't say I blame him, as this whole thing was a fiasco. Everyone is reeling and the fans are really sensitive right now. He needs to be careful if he wants us to follow him in anything fresh and unlike Castle. Because Castle was a pretty loveable guy. And gave him employment for eight years. To me, there is nothing NOT to love about Castle.
I'll cut you some slack, Nathan.... but be mindful of your context and what you say, dude.....

I think I'm just taking that last tweet differently than many fans. In Hollywood, success can be a double edged sword. Being a success on Castle for 8 seasons may mean that most of the industry will typecast him in that type of role in the future or may think he's not right for any other types of characters. My interpretation is that he hopes that fans not only watch him in something new but will be a fan of him in something different. Unfortunately, with fans being so sensitive about all that just occurred, it didn't come across well at all. Of course I could be completely wrong on all of that, but that's my theory.

Unfortunately, with fans being so sensitive about all that just occurred, it didn't come across well at all. Of course since I could be completely wrong on all of that, but that's my theory. I like this theory. Very similar to my own thoughts. Nathan has said in the past that he follows the script, and the direction on the show, and essentially this is what you need to do to stay employed and employable. It does not necessarily mean he likes or agrees with all of it. They call it acting for a reason. One of the reasons I was unhappy with much of season 7 and pretty much all of season 8 was that they seemed to be turning Rick Castle back into the lite entertainment and bumbling fool who needed rescuing all the time. Previously they had shown his progression to be something more and a true partner to Beckett and the other cops. Why the showrunners and writers chose to reverse this I do not know, but I for one was not happy with it. I can understand the sensitivity and emotions but I do not believe it should be reflected back on the actors in real life. They will go on to do other things, some of which I may like and others perhaps I won't. Like us they are human and they will make mistakes, but unlike us, these have the potential to be far more public. I do not envy them for that.

I totally agree with you, Christine. I think he wants fans to keep an open mind and not pigeon hole him as Castle. That's perfectly fine, but I don't think the timing or the wording of the tweet was particularly good.

Also, you have to remember, the man just lost his job and the little I've seen of his house, it doesn't look cheap. He has to be pragmatic too.
He's a wonderful actor, and every role he plays feels distinctly different. I'm sure he won't be out of work long.

Translation :
Be as passionate for me as you were for Stana.
I smell some bruised ego along with some professional jealousy here.
I think he realizes just how important it is now to back your partner in crime.
To me, no matter what, he comes out looking bad here. And that is truly a shame.

I wish I could tell Nathan that I meant no ill will toward him personally or against his character, Castle. My anger is directed to the idiots at ABC that thought it would work to remove Stana. I wish him nothing but the best. I can understand how he would be hurt, but in all honesty, he's got as many fans that would have done the same thing for him.
