I share this with much trepidation and caution... but yes, I heard from our buddy this week. He's digging his way out, and every day is stronger. I cannot/will not speak for him as to when he'll get back here, but I believe when he is up to it in every way, he will surprise us one day.

To say I was elated, relieved, fill with joy and gladness, is the understatement of the year!  Just know he is on the mend, and in his time, let's hope he'll pop in and share with you all. I am certain he will be overcome with appreciation when he realizes the love that has been shown, and that you have been waiting here for him. 

Whatever you're doing for him - praying, good thoughts... sending love, blessings, wishes in your own way... THANK YOU!  Keep them coming!  And God-willing.... we'll see him here SOONER than LATER! 

I will share as I'm able, if he needs me to, until he can get back here himself.

Happy new year! Thank you all for such kindness. 2016 was a terrible year and I'm still rebooting and restarting my life. Finally, I came across this thread on January 1st, 2017! I'm pretty sure KAT mentioned this thread before but my brain power isn't running at 100% as explained in rehab. I'll be lucky if I'm at 99% but I'm far from it. Memories, vocabulary, dialogue, and comprehension runs off and on at random.

So I spent 2015 carefully and mildly working on health and fitness so I can age very gracefully and easily. Bench press 195 and squatting 265. Nice and slow. Took December off to relax. Planned on snow skiing and coming back to spend 2016 mildly cutting back on leg exercises since they were getting too big and continuing chest, arms, and shoulder buildup for just a tad more mass. Once completed, I planned to cut way back to once a week for maintenance.

Reboot. I spent 6 weeks in intensive care unconscious and under multiple surgeries. Rehab started in late May. The focus was on brain damage which was a part of the risk from meningitis. Also had physical exercises, PE, because I could barely walk and my balance was way off. All my physical growth - gone.

My life changed. Medical bills astronomical. Living with my mother because I need someone keeping an eye on me due to seizures that caused me to fall at the hospital which places multiple dents to my forehead. Slowly working out in rehab on a very minor scale and heavily supervised. Vocabulary, memory, comprehension, dialogue all mired. I'm not returning to be the Gifted and Talented kid that the education system labeled me as.

But I live. Saw Rogue One. Excellent. I'm no longer interested in movIes and TV shows. I would have enjoyed another Castle season and I've missed all episodes from this years Castle and The Walking Dead and it's other show that I cannot recall the name because I'm having trouble with nouns and pronouns.

Hope you all had a better year followed by wondrous new year.

You're the bravest guy I know! Such a fighter! You've always grabbed life by the horns and made things happen, and you continue to do it every day. The pace is slower and the gains smaller but you're still moving forward with goals and a life plan when many would have given up completely.

I wish you the very best in the coming year and whole heartedly believe that you will succeed in building a new life because that's what WINNERS do!

Java so glad you found this thread. You have been in our thoughts and prayers this past year. How amazing and wonderful that you have a chance to read these good wishes and words.
2016 was a challenging year for many people but for you it was a life changer. We know you will continue to move forward with each day showing growth.

Trust me, it was a blessing that you didn't have to watch the last year of Castle. Much better to be able to watch from the beginning and stop before it went of the rails.
On to 2017.

I'm so happy you found this thread. We’ve thought about you a lot over 2016 and sent you all the virtual hugs, hopes, prayers, and good wishes we possibly could. (On a personal note, getting your Christmas card this year made me positively giddy.)

I generally like to believe that things happen for a reason. I’m not nearly smart enough to know what the reason would be for you to have to have endured this year…but you survived and that in itself is huge.

FYI, if I were you, I’d skip Castle season 8 all together, just trust me on that. Also, the other The Walking Dead show you are thinking of is Fear the Walking Dead. I don’t watch either but I hear they are quite good.

Please feel free to post anything you’d like about movies, TV shows, music, your recovery, your life…anything you’d like. We’re just thrilled to hear from you and hope to have it happen a lot more often!

I don’t know what 2017 will bring for any of us, but I know that having you here has already made it a good year.
