Up, up and away tonight! It should be interesting to see how they solve a murder while confined to a plane and with the killer amongst them. We should have some new and interesting things to discuss after this one, so please join in after you've seen the show.
I am looking forward to seeing Dara's first solo episode. She was limited as this was a "pocket" episode. I think that means they didn't want to spend much money making this so they cut down on guests and sets locations.
It will be nice for Molly to get more screen time. I know they all think of her as their child as she grew up on Castle. I now some people only want Caskett but it is nice to give other cast members some extra screen time.

Terrific episode.
I enjoyed this episode. I liked how well Castle and Alexis worked together to solve the crime. She has really learned a lot from watching Castle and Kate, and also from working with Lanie. And the way she talked down the flight attendant was terrific.
Of course we had to have the requisite snakes on a plane reference. I liked Castle's reference to learning how to do the fingerprint in the pencil graphite from MacGuyver.
I really didn't think it was the first guy.....there's always at least one or two red herring suspects. We were beginning to think it had to be one of the flight crew, but we were thinking the male flight attendant.
Good interaction between Castle on the plane and Kate and the boys back in NYC. It was nice to see Espo being supportive after his recent animosity toward Castle.
All in all, a good recovery from last week. This was an enjoyable episode to watch.
It was entertaining
We loved this episode. Molly and Nathan were outstanding tonight. I thought they handled the Caskett parts very well. You could feel the worry rolling off of Kate for her loved ones. It was great watching how everyone on the ground pulled together to help the people in the air. Just a great episode in our opinion. Come on, Stana, please sign for an 8th season!!!!! Just saying.

I really enjoyed the episode also ,and I liked Rick's reaction to the snake. That brought a smile to my face. I also liked Alexis and Rick working together, they make a good team. Loved Stana's last scene and the peace on her face when the plane landed!!!Great show tonight My husband and I both thought this was a very good stand alone episode. It was intriguing and tense with a little bit of comic relief in some one liners. There were some great emotional moments and a good use of modern technology to aid in solving the crime. Especially for a low budget episode, it was well done.
Right off the bat, I was pleased to see Castle and Alexis sitting in first class, as I would expect, and I was also glad to hear Alexis had plans with friends and wasn't going to be following Daddy everywhere. That was very appropriate for her age. It was nice to see Kate via the technology and get the "I love you"s and the autograph request was believable too - as was Castle's ego!
As Castle gets drawn into the mystery and discovers the body, Alexis offers to look for clues relying on her internship with Lanie. That was good continuity but I was ever so grateful that it was actually Lanie who came up with the evidence and not Alexis. Just keeping it real.
It was around this point that I said to the hubbie, "Castle's totally trusting the flight crew so I bet it's one of them." Bingo! Rookie mistake Mr. Castle, but despite him being a rookie in terms of solo case solving, I loved how reassuring Kate was at every turn, assuring him that she had all the faith in the world in his ability to handle this.
We had the usual red herrings, both with very believable reasons to be suspected but through the use of technology, they were looking innocent. Plus, Castle's Spidey Sense was tingling and he's usually right! It all unfolded in a very believable story and thanks to Alexis' previous interaction with the killer, she's able to talk her into lowering her gun. That might have been a bit contrived but it really didn't bother me. Nice father/daughter moment afterwards.
There were 2 scenes where Kate was looking at the flight tracker on her computer and both were very emotionally charged. The first one was when Espo walked up and she quietly said she was just making sure they were still there. That brought a lump to my throat and I wish Espo would have just put a reassuring hand on her shoulder. That would have been a nice connection. The closing scene, when she sees them land safely and sighs in relief, showcases Stana's brilliant ability to sell a scene just through her facial expression. She makes me feel every bit of it.
I only have one slight beef with the show and it's one that really surprises me. Normally, I love the musical score and feel it heightens the episode for me but this time, I felt it was overly dramatic, even to the point that it took me out of some scenes because I was annoyed at the volume and intensity. Weird.
Looks like we get a big dose of hilarity next week to celebrate the 150th episode. I'm looking forward to the fun!
Great episode, I am so hoping for season 8
I think every procedural has to do an in flight episode - Bones had one several years ago & Person of Interest earlier this season or late last (don't remember exactly), to name 2. I was suspicious of the head flight attendant all along for the simple reason that she was the only one of the guest stars I recognized. Glad they managed a father/daughter episode this season.
So , after watching this episode over I have to agree with Nathanfan that this is a great "Stand Alone" episode. It was basically 2 sets with each actor maybe getting a day off as they put together a teledrama showcasing acting skills while still keeping that chemistry between Nathan and Stana shared this time via Skype.
Molly shined. Nathan expanded the Castle character even more and we begin to experience through Kate, via Stana, that disconnected feeling one gets when you realize that Rick is living the dream and she is stuck behind a desk looking at a computer screen , tracking a flight that she really wished she was on. I think, although a low budget episode, it was priceless because Rick keeps growing and Kate is stuck , while Alexis is holding a seat and a vacation that Kate so desperately wants.
The truth is, as long as she is in the precinct, she cannot live life on her terms. This episode went a long way in exposing this. It was actually an underlying theme of this episode and brilliantly disguised in this very good screenplay.
So we see a good plot, a great ending and we feel Kate wanting to be a woman Of the world and not just a homicide detective who will have to wait her turn to climb a long staircase to be a captain. Does she really make a difference there or is there more in life for her? Yet another journey for the proverbial fork in the road that seems to follow her around. Rick is flying...growing. and she is on the ground. I feel major changes coming for her.
Yes, (off topic) Stana's marriage!
For me is it crystal clear how important Stana Katic is for the series. She makes the unbelievable believable. Great great actress.
(In the Netherlands this episode is thursday the 30th of april on tv! They follow the episodes within the week. Formerly months later.)
