My two cents as posted on your review... Technically Castle didn't lie to her. Not once. He had his memory erased so he wouldn't have to lie to her. That's the one inconsistency with Kate's line of dialog. However it was Castle who showed he had actually LEARNED something from they last time they were there. (season 4) In that he was unwilling to go behind Kate's back. Too bad Kate hadn't learned that one until now. To be honest I was not looking forward to this episode so much in at least one way, because from the promos it felt like once again they were gonna let Kate have the moral high ground without earning it. Castle was right in episode 8. He knows his wife and had obviously foreseen this very scenario we found ourselves in this season and moved to prevent it, which leads me to wonder whom else he met in California before having his memory wiped. (Rita perhaps?) But I digress. It was good that Kate didn't hold it over his head or fly into a rage like she did in Always. Apparently she has grown enough to recognize her own flawed logic at work. Actually the drinking scene does make sense in a way. There really was nothing to say. "How did we end up here again? You lie to protect me. I lie to protect you." pretty much covered it. At least she was QUESTIONING her actions instead of JUSTIFYING hers like last time.

Why do I have the bad feeling that when I make godhood, it's gonna end up being the God of Reason?

Enjoyed your review. Sadly, I get the horrible feeling that everyone on show is just trying to finish this season and bury the show. IMO, the spark appears gone between Nathan and Stana. Their scenes are brief and they appear to be just going through the motions. Even my better half has noted how stilted they appear with each other. There is no comparison between now and what occurred up to S6E23. JMO We enjoyed the COTW and their finally getting back on the same page. We thoroughly enjoyed Martha and who saw Haley being the voice of reason. She has proven to be a good friend to Rick and his family. 2 weeks between shows again. We'll still be here to the bitter end. It will be interesting to see how they tie things up.

Like you, Christine, there were parts of this episode I liked, and some not so much. Agree that Martha's book dedication was a bit harsh, and gives the impression that she doesn't have a very high opinion of her son, which I think is not actually the case.
I did enjoy most of Kate's interactions with the recruits, but do agree about the scene with Chambers; normally she backs off when a suspect asks for a lawyer. Why did she feel she could handle this situation differently?
And thank goodness Castle told her about what he found in L.A. I think I would have been back to throwing something at the television (metaphorically at least) if he had decided to keep that secret. We need to get our Caskett back, and hopefully with them working together on loksat, we will see more of that.
