I am trying to copy all of the questions and answers that Stana put on her FB today. She did this with Chad Creaey and Rob Bowman also stopped in.
Here are a few of the posts from todays chat:
Rob Bowman stopped in and had this to say:
ROB BOWMAN JUST WALKED IN, LADIES & GENTLEMEN... HERE'S HIS TWO CENTS ABOUT WORKING ON 815:... Any story where we explore Beckett's personally journey is wonderfully complex & exciting because you're dealing with a person who wants happiness, wants things right in the world, but has more ambition than resources. And she's always left, even in victory, only partially satisfied... which is why she keeps driving forward... and she's the most complicated character I've ever directed... not actress. .... character...
Question: Beckett is a very strong women and I consider her to be a great feminist icon. She is one of my favorite characters on tv for this reason. do you consider her to be a role model for women and what is your favorite thing about the character?
Answer: SK: I love when this character inspires. One of the things that I think is an important element with Beckett is that she has chosen a profession in which she is forced regularly to sacrifice her own happiness & life for the good of a greater community. She's a police officer. There will be birthdays, dates, dinners, parties, etc. that she will miss because her job is to SERVE her community. That's a compromise. And not everyone can make it. And not every partner (Castle) can handle it. But the two of them are cut from the same cloth, in that vein. Because they BOTH care about justice. And to me, they're heroes...
Question for Stana and Rob: How important is it for the pair of you to have Beckett's character perpetually growing? We are at season 8 and she is still learning new things about herself.
Answer: SK: What new things do you think she's learned this season?
Question: For chad and stana, if you could choose one scene of the entire show to immortalize, what scene would it be?
Answer: SK: The kiss from "Always".
Question: Stana, is there a storyline you would like to see on Castle, that hasn't been done yet, & if so, would you please share?
Answer: SK: I'd like us to interrogate a mime.
Question: Chad, why you become a writer??? I am a writer could you give me an advice??? Stana do you think in a future write a script? If the answer is yes, for what? Movie, short o tvshow? Thank you!!
Answer: CGC: I became a writer because I was always a storyteller, even as a little kid (often lies to get out of something bad I had done... shhhh, don't tell my mother). I had great teachers who told me to write those stories down, so I did. Writers write. So if you have a story to tell -- any story -- write it down. Short stories, novels, plays, TV or feature film scripts, just grab a pen or a keyboard and commit it to the page. Be true to your own unique experience and voice, and you'll find something compelling to say.
Question: What do you love the most about Kate Beckett?
Answer: SK: She's flawed, and I love that. It means she's human & relatable. She has a tremendous amount of integrity. So, the character always tries to do the right thing, but sometimes falls short.
Question: Are you more Beckett or Stana or combo of both?
Answer: I'm unworthy to be either of those. And the combo of those two would just blow up the Universe.
Question: Hi guys! Glad you could do it today! I have one question for Stana and then one for Chad:
Stana: What was the most exciting thing for you as the actress playing Kate Beckett to "go back" to a place that's been part of her background (and that we never thought we'd see)?
Chad: What was the most challenging thing about 8.15 script/story?
Answer: SK: This was an opportunity to see the character's growth over Castle's history. Chad put her face-to-face with her beginnings & had her engage with characters who remember Beckett, the Rookie. It's exciting to see, in one episode, where a character like Beckett started off & is now after the adventures she's been on with the rest of the Castle gang.
CGC: SK kind of nailed it there! Keeping this spoiler-free, but the investigation takes us to the NYPD Academy early on in the story, and it was challenging (in the best way) to find a way to step back out into the greater world from there.
Question: What can we expect (besides Badass Beckett) in tonight's ep?? BTW thank you both for doing this!!
Answer: SK: Castle & Beckett make the best chess move this ep!
Question: For both of you: What Beckett line has resonated with you the most?
Answer:SK: "Shut the front door."
Question: Chad, what are the challenges of writing KB, for you? Do you approach it in a different way, depending on if you're writing a Caskett romantic scene, or a badass!Beckett one?
Answer: CGC: What's so fun about writing for KB is to find a way to both challenge the character, but also the amazing actress playing her. We always have to protect the story, but we find the magic when we find something new for Stana to infuse into KB. And after 8 seasons, she still continues to episode after episode.
Question:Hi Stana! Has Chad converted you to Chipotle yet? LOL
Answer: SK: like a cult.
Question: Hello you 2! How much is the writer involved in the direction of a scene? Is he always on set during his episode?
Answer: CGC: We always have a writer on set to help with story questions, but the director is King/Queen while filming. Sometimes Bowman would let me out of my cage for food and water on 815.
Question: Describe tonight's episode in one word
Answer: CGC: "tense tense tense" - wait, is that one word?
Question: On a scale of 1 to 10 how fun was it, filming 8x15?
Answer: SK: 12
Question: how does it feel to work on a tv show that has so many passionated fans from all over the world? i'm from finland but i've met so many people from other countries because of castle
Answer: CGC: It's an honor, and the community that has been created around this amazing show is a tribute to how small this world is. I'm always floored to hear about the friendships that have been made across continents thanks to these unique characters and stories.
Question: Bonjour Chad! Bonjour Stana! So happy that you are here! I can't describe how excited I am about the ep of tonight! What was your inspiration, Chad, for to write this ep? And Stana what is your favorite part of this ep?
Answer: CGC: Bonjour, Isabelle! We've always talked about doing a murder that connects back to the Police Academy, and I was the lucky writer who got the chance to figure out that mystery. Hope you enjoy solving it with us tonight!
Question: Stana, how did you like the role of a mentor in this episode? Do we see KB relating to this recruit in some way? Do you think she'd ever consider a teaching position at the Academy?
Answer: SK: I don't know if Beckett is a "mentor" as much as she relates to the recruit in a "kindred spirit" sort of way.
Question: did you have to train martial arts before shooting the scene with the recruit?
Answer: SK: We have a great stunt coordinator & stunt team. They make us look great. I've studied some martial arts, so the physical language of it is not foreign to me. As for Ellen, she was a quick study.
Question: It's kind of 2 am here in India. And I don't think I will have any luck tonight getting a reply. There are too many people who love you.
anyway, Love from India
Answer: SK: Shout out to India! Thanks for joining us!!!
Question: 30 years from now, what do you think you will say was your biggest takeaway from playing Kate Beckett?
Answer: Dunno... ask me in 30 years... (fingers crossed)
Question: Will Beckett be mad at Rick for his Loksat involvement?
Answer: SK: That part you'll have to watch. Hug.
Question: Hi, Stana, I wonder if you still feel surprised to see all the love from the fans for you? How much is this important to you ? i love u
Answer: SK: This show has some of the most ardent/dedicated fans of any project out there. I know some of you travelled over from X-Files, and thank you for making that journey. Others were fans of the Whedon world. Thank you for that! And then we built a group of people that just found this story on their own & fell in love with the characters, their crime-solving shenanigans & all of their idiosyncrasies. ... We exist because of you watching. Thank you! You have made many dreams come true & have built a new family-- Castle.
Question: Stana: What's the hardest for you? Starting your day in the wee hours of the morning or working 'till the wee hours at night or both? Or are you used to it by now?
Answer: SK: mooooornings... ughhhh!... night owl blood.
I think that is all she posted. Interesting replies.
