I'm feeling good vibes about tonight! It's episode 13 and it's February 29th. Let's hope the episode is special in many ways. Please join in discussing it after you've watched.

We are slowly getting back to our old Castle. Another reference to Castle's writing. Lots more Caskett time tonight. Another case full of twists and turns. More Espo and Ryan. And though Loksat did rear its ugly head on a couple of occasions, it wasn't too bad.
I enjoyed Castle getting the entire class involved in trying to hold up the FBI from following the judge so Haley and Castle could confront him. And Alexis taking over teaching the class.
Those glimpses of Castle's missing time were intriguing. Let's hope they do a better job with next week's episode exploring that time than we got in "Sleeper" last year.

I really have to say that things are feeling very much like season 8. LokSat conspiracy? What conspiracy? Caskett separation? What Caskett separation? Captain Beckett? What Captain Beckett? Castle banned from the precinct? What ban? He was right in the thick of things as the case unfolded and no one so much as batted an eye. In fact, in that one scene, it seemed as if Ryan and Espo were purposely picking Castle's brain. Once again tonight, Kate was doing everything she did as lead detective. She just had a different office. She showed up at the crime scene and the morgue, did interrogations and worked with the team. Standing up to the feds was about the only captainy thing she did. The episode started and ended with Kate at the loft and absolutely no feeling of sneaking around. She's sleeping there and supposedly Alexis still lives there so I'm thinking it's getting to be quite a stretch to think that Alexis and Martha don't know that they're back together. Don't get me wrong - I love the return to normal, but it sure makes a mockery of the restraints TPTB setup earlier this season.
Perlmutter was a hoot, trying to set Kate up with his twin brother! Oh lordy, 2 of them! On a side note, I was so happy for Arye Gross who plays Perlmutter. He hates to shave and it looks like they finally let him keep his beard for an appearance. I'm sure Arye was delighted! Castle refusing to kiss Kate in front of a dead body was also funny.
I really enjoyed the use of the ESL class. There were so many distinct characters, my favorite of which was the guy from England who spoke a strange English dialect. The interrogation scene with Haley translating for Ryan and Espo was really funny, as was the chase scene with all of the students getting in the way of the feds. Clever plan Castle.
As the show went on, I was noticing that everyone was still in the same clothes and I said to my hubby, "Long day." Right after that came the funny scene with Ryan and Espo ending their long day with an FBI takedown. Poor guys!
LOVED the dinner party at the loft with Martha hosting and Alexis being announced as the new ESL teacher. While I like a job along those lines a lot more than working at the PI office, I can't help but wonder again how she has time to go to college. I kind of feel like her character's been used as a pawn this season. Each episode they simply make up what they need from her and the element of consistency is pretty much gone. Anyway, Martha's speech at the end about America being built by immigrants was excellent and Susan Sullivan delivered it with a lot of heart.
Castle's flashback to his disappearance when he tasted the Korean food was a total shock. I realized right away what was happening but it was totally unexpected. When he woke from his dream at the end and realized that he'd been in LA, I knew it was going to tie into next week's show. I wonder if that will actually be the ending of that story arc. Fingers crossed that it is because it's been pretty lame all along. I just hope that the explanation makes a lot more sense than the first part that we got last season.
Enjoyed the show, definitely feeling like the team was back together and doing what they do best.

I have to admit, I did like the story and we did get a fair amount of Caskett scenes, but it still feels a little off without Castle working with Beckett at the precinct. Guess we shall see over the next few eps if that changes.
I t was fun though seeing my friend as a guest star! He said he had a great time shooting and like all other guests that the cast and crew were fantastic to work with.

Where was this level of writing in the beginning of the season?

We really liked this episode. It was very well done. If we had this level of writing all year, our show would not be in the position of being cancelled like it appears to be.

bugg, just curious, did your friend mention anything about Stana and Nathan. I would love to put that rumor to bed about them not getting along.

I don't want to really talk about the episode too much. I loved it. I will say the perfect spin off may be Alexis and Haley running the Castle Investigations Empire. It takes Rick and Kate out of the equation, and you may still interact with anyone you want. The story lines could be on the same elk as Derek Storm Novels. Anyway...I digress.
I am angry. Very angry. And I think you all know why. The Show Runners have left the first half of the season behind with literally no recollection of what occurred. Was that 2 months of no memory for them? The pain, the agony, the Castle scratching his head moments, the horrible storyline, the Dark Side of Kate, all have been forgotten.....OK Fine, you bunch of cowards. You make a mockery of this show and then you treat it like none of this happened. The apology was horrible, her insecurity nearly cost them a marriage and now you forget about it. And yet, in the back of our minds, we are waiting for Kate to snap again. The damage has been done. Why did you go this route in the first place?
What bothers me the most is that they still have forgotten that they are separated. What are what you waiting for?
They act fine, they seem great, but then Perlmutter, who is awesome, tries to set up Svetlana with his twin brother. It throws her off guard and makes her chuckle and want to vomit at the same time, because not only did he insult the man she really loves, but he goes one worse and wants to set her up with the Perlmutter Clone. This has gone on long enough. If the writers forget the first half never happened, then end this sham of a separation. Ryan and Espo need to know that Mom and Dad are OK. Is this really all in the name of LokSat? I feel that the flashback had everything to do with LokSat, but Kate can't run and hide. She loves her husband and needs to realize that if they wanted him dead, he would be dead. I am sure she is watched all day and night. AS IS HE. So finish this pitiful, Series Canceling ARC, and let them be happy. The writers seem to want to please us, which is a good sign, and the Marlowe Influence is back, so lets just stop the crappy stuff and focus on what this show does best, which was never more evident than last night. Congrats on a great show, but please, let Caskett be Caskett for the time we have left.

I was riding home while he was tweeting. I hadn't seen the episode yet but he gave a shout out to Arye on his Twitter. I tweeted back how it was nice they let Arye keep his beard. Arye "liked" my tweet. Looks like he had figured out how to use Twitter. I know some people don't like the PI business. I think it does give Castle a way to work with the police when they need to not follow the rules. We have seen Castle do this over the years. The comment "I'm not a cop" before he does something the police can't. The PI business lets him do this even more. I think Castle is happy to let his"staff" run the everyday boring cases. Castles will only"help" out when the case is"fun". Sent from my SM-N910V using proboards

Well this my first post on this new fansite. I want to thank Christine over at TVfanatic for pointing me this way. Anyway, I am a longtime Castle fan, and have seen every episodes many times and own them all on DVD. Needless to say, but I will say it anyway, this season has been a monumental disappointment. But this episode ran a lot more true to the show's history than any episode since the middle of last season. Vikram is an character that needs to go away. I don't trust him and suspect he is Loksat or in cahoots with him. Too many inconsistencies to be just an IT guy. Alexis is learning too much of condescension from Hayley toward her dad, something that bothers me. AND can no one stick up for Castle? We all know that Caskett is separated, but cant Kate defend Rick just a little to Perlmutter? He sanctioned use of a scalpel for chrissake.

Welcome dying time and great post. I haven't seen all of the episodes yet (I live in the UK) but you're absolutely right. Someone should be sticking up for Castle.
