In a twisted way the bad guy still won
He didn’t just want his parents to see the monster they turned him into. He wanted everyone to know what his parents did. He wanted to be caught when he was done, so he could have his day in court to reveal what his parents did to him and his sister.
He wanted to live to see their reputations burn.
Even though he wasn’t able to get the results or the body count he was after he will still get what he ultimately wanted.
