Just curious if anyone else has special plans for Superbowl Sunday. We have no football fans in my house, not even my husband. So right now we're watching the Kitten Bowl on the Hallmark Channel and deciding on appropriate snacks for the afternoon. Later, we'll actually record the Superbowl so that we can fast forward through the game and watch the commercials...because that's how we roll on Superbowl Sunday.

My husband and I don't watch any sports, but Super Bowl we do....mainly as a great excuse for margaritas and Mexican food!!!! Yeah!!!! And we used to LOVE the commercials (of course I love the Clydesdales!!!!), but I think we're so "old" now that we're definitely not the target demographic audience....we usually look at each other during the commercial and say, "Huh?" or some other unprintable retort, and take another sip of margarita! Bummed that the Patriots didn't make it...just going to root for Carolina because the Broncos beat the Patriots, go figure. Also happened to read an article about Carolina's quarterback and how "big" he is and I guess kind of hard for the opposition's players to gauge, so I'm going to pay particular attention to his plays.

We will be camping in Southern Arizona in the mountains. I think one of the rigs will have the game onas they have Direct TV satellite. Since my Seahawks didn't make it and the Cardinals didn't make it there will probably be a few that will watch. Most of us will be enjoying the food and the great outdoors. We are planning on roasting hot dogs and brats over the open fire for dinner during half time.

I really enjoy watching pro football on TV so I'll be parked in front of my set for the game and the commercials, but I don't follow the unending hours of leadup shows. Fjordmom, I chuckled at your comment about not getting a lot of the commercials. My husband and I do the very same thing! We're definitely over some kind of hill.

Our church is holding its 6th Annual Chili Cook-off and Appetizer contest, hosted by our Youth Group. The competition is pretty fierce. The cop who goes to our church has won 4 out of the last 5 years. The only year he didn't win, he didn't enter. Last year, my oldest daughter took 2nd place in the chili cook-off and I won in the appetizer category. This year I'm making Philly Cheese Steak Dip on Toasted Baugettes and Rachel Ray's Chili Cheese Dog Potato Skins.
Last year we had a talent show during half-time. Our pastor's wife was a majorette in high school and she did a baton twirling routine. It was so awesome! This year, the youth group is leading games. There's always lots of little kids running around and it's such a fun family event. We need those here in Minnesota where we don't get together too much in the winter because nobody wants to leave their warm homes.
I only watch the Super Bowl for the commercials. I really don't care who wins the game, but enjoy the socializing quite a bit.

Well we tried our antenna and looks like we have not only CBS but we get ABC too so we will be able to watch Castle tomorrow. We currently have 12 people watching the Superbowl in our RV.

Well, my daughter won 2nd place in the chili cook-off (the cop won first again), and I took 2nd in the appetizer category. A fun night.
