Yee-Haw!!!!! We're in for a rootin' tootin' good time tonight and maybe even a roll in the hay for the honeymooners! Let's talk afterwards!

It was good, but for some reason , I don't think it will get above a 2.0. What happened to the 10 + Million viewers per episode ?That was a rollicking good time IMO. There were so many funny quips that it's impossible to recount them all, but I have to say that my favorite came at the very beginning when Ryan and Espo are fuming about not being invited to the wedding. As Martha starts raving about how great it was, she says, "You should have been there!" That one had me cracking up! The other thing that I found hilarious was that Castle named the 2 horses Ryan and Espo!
I loved the way Kate and Castle acted like newlyweds throughout the episode. They called each other Mr. and Mrs. (both Castle AND Beckett!), Castle said, "Saddle up, honey", there was teasing about the little woman wearing the pants in the family and so many more. They were often touching and there were several kisses. Castle even carried her over the threshold! The scene by the campfire was great with the toast to their journey and the suggestion that they'd do it under the stars - before the snake showed up. The ending scene was also sweet as Kate roped her man.
I really liked the way Gates acted throughout the episode. She mentions that she wasn't even invited to the toast and blames Castle, which I would totally expect, but then she chews Ryan and Espo out later and admits that Castle and Beckett deserve their happiness after all they've been through. It was nice to hear her verbalize that and the suggestion of donating time off was a great one. I also want to mention that Penny looked mighty darn young and adorable in the beginning scene with that ponytail!
Speaking of looks, I thought Castle looked exactly like Hoss Cartwright. Those of you who are old enough to have watched Bonanza will definitely see the similarity. In fact, Kate even refers to him as "Hoss" early on. Stana was drop dead gorgeous in those western duds! That black outfit with the black hat pulled down low on her brow was breathtakingly beautiful and what a waist!!!!!!!! I love the significance of her being in white at the end, for the start of the real honeymoon period.
I'd love to hear the song and toast that Ryan and Espo had prepared for the wedding and I also would love to see them actually have a reception but I'm afraid that's not very likely. What I hope the most is that we still continue to see that newlywed behavior in the next few episodes. It doesn't have to be over the top but I do think the bliss should last longer than 1 week.
When we were in LA for the Castle Con recently, Andrew really raved about this episode and I can see why he said he could watch it over and over. However, IMO, it pales in comparison to The Time Of Our Lives. The depth and cleverness of the writing and the emotional high of those vows will make that a very tough episode to top in my book. All in all, this one was a great followup and I'm very happy with the pairing of these 2 episodes.
Just finished posting my review (you'll find it under the TV Fanatic thread) and I have to say I had great fun watching this episode. I got a screener of it over the weekend so tonight was the third time I watched it. I think I enjoyed it more with each viewing.
Kate and Rick acted like newlyweds and it was very sweet to see. I understood Ryan and Espo being hurt about the wedding snub but it was even better when Gates called them whiny little school girls and took the side of the happy couple.
This episode was light-hearted Castle at its best. One of the things I mentioned in my review was that Kate's scar was clearly visible in that white dress. I appreciated that for two reasons. First for continuity sake and second because I think the scar represents all that they've gone through to get to this place where they can be together and so very happy.
The episode may be over but I'm still smiling.

What a delightful romp!!! I so loved the music and the "lingo"--every classic Western, all of which TPW apparently watched—and every, cheesy, television Western I ever watched as a child--which would be many, many, many such Westerns!!!
This, beautifully written, directed, produced, costumed and “made up,” “hair-styled,” filmed, lighted, CASTLE 7x07 ONCE UPON A TIME IN THE WEST, lacked the from-my-youth, hopelessly cheesy posse pursuit, multiple times passing the very same rock outcropping and sagebrush configuration and some quartet warbling “Cool Water”--thankfully!!! “Lingo” and music, scenery and sets, CASTLE Western title—and “THE END” screens wowed, as did blissfully in love newlywed, detectives undercover, Kate and Rick, who rocked every, dude ranch gift shop purchased Western hat and outfit—sexy all—be they low cut, cinched waist, plaid shirt—including Kate’s white, “fourth, wedding gown,” worn while lassoing and kissing her beloved to begin their honeymoon, made possible by RYSPOSITO’S GATES-inspired acceptance of CASKETT’S marriage, the way “their dear friends, after the hell they’ve been through, had found to make it work” after all!!!
Ah, the initial wedding announcement at the loft!!! Alexis’ encouragement to serve another drink, after Martha’s ebullient, devoted, tactless, “It was perfect; you should have been there,” in the face of Lanie’s, Kevin’s, and Javi’s reactions to CASKETT’S, “We’re married,” evolved to Lanie’s hugging Kate, poking Rick, and demanding Kate’s dinner treat with all of the desserts in the face of Lanie’s having sacrificed carbs, just in case she needed to wear her Maid of Honor dress for her best friend’s wedding!!! RYAN and ESPO were not so readily supportive, emphasizing their intended speeches and song and the nuptials that they could not discuss, as they had not been there!!! And, GATES, “Mr. CASTLE’S fault,” of course, had not even been invited to the Champagne toast!!! Still, Sir still found Kate’s “husband’s” idea their best “shot” to go undercover in Arizona to solve their latest COTW!!!
“Mrs. CASTLE” may wear the ten-gallon hat in the relationship, and she may have executed two, life-saving shots, rescuing the love of her life from a diamondback rattler lending its name to the Diamondback Old West Dude Ranch—and from the showdown and shoot out he found himself in, after five minutes left alone!!! Note the, “affable, knowledgeable bar keep” slinking and sinking lower behind the bar!!! But “Mr. BECKETT” led writer, rather than police-style, research, even if it included “procrastination and making things up” and his assigning Kate a hogtying class with their gay, affable and knowledgeable, enthusiastic bunkhouse, suitemate (Tobias, wonderfully played by Tyler HILTON), while Rick took “beginning harmonica playing” and some Cowboy skills class!!!
“Yee, haw!!!” Even if the “authentic” dude ranch setting included “saddling up, Honey,” cow patties; swinging, saloon doors; poker with “an Ace up your sleeve;” and a single bed for the newlywed “cuddlers” in a bunkhouse which inspired thoughts of a disinfectant search; a wagon ride featuring a team of gunshot-shy horses Rick named, “ESPO” and “RYAN,” CASKETT also discovered starry skies; romance; and BAMF BECKETT, “the fastest gun in the East,” brandishing, twirling, and successfully wielding CASTLE’S gift shop purchased, his and hers set/wedding gift of Colt 45 six-shooters about which Kate decided, “Who says romance dies after you tie the knot?" Romantic Rick carried smitten Kate over the threshold, too!!!
Indeed, Rick’s declaration that things don’t make sense re: the murder mystery or that he and Kate are married but not acting like it led to Kate’s, “What do you got in mind, Cowboy?” and Rick’s harmonica tune, “LET ME CALL YOU SWEETHEART,” “I’m in love with you;” “kinda magical” stars and “To us, to the journey and to what lies ahead”!!! Kudos, Stana and Nathan, again perfection as Kate and Rick, at last, newlywed CASKETT—and to all players, Molly, Susan, Tamala, Jon, Seamus, and Penny—spot on, everyone—along with writer Terence Paul WINTER, director Alrick RILEY, costume designer Luke REICHLE, set designer Alfred SOLE, music/composer Robert DUNCAN, makeup artists Lizbeth WILLIAMSON and Angela MALDONE, and the entire CASTLE cast, crew, and team!!!
Our dauntless, devoted, detective duo could accept their crime-solving justice for the victim and missing gold quests and “murder over Mai Tais,” variously proclaiming this outing their honeymoon and so not their honeymoon!!! They may have been “knackered,” “moseyed on over to the cantina,” “strapped on the old feed bag,” partaken of “chow,” “coffin varnish… aka whiskey” and of “jitter juice;” but they could also claim “guessin’” and “reckoning” that they had “cleaned up this town”!!! How amusing the Yavapi, Native American descendant who teased but didn’t judge the “dudes” and CASTLE’S threat of a “scathing,” YELP review for the Diamondback Old West Ranch !!!
Ready to savor their RYSPOSITO-gifted, four days to do as they wished and assuring one another that their island getaway would be part of their future, CASKETT kissed as “THE END” closed their undercover honeymoon and began their first such, actual celebration!!! So many, many, many 7x07 ONCE UPON A TIME IN THE WEST re-watches in my future!!!
Stoopid snake.

I think she darn near killed most of the men in the fandom last night when she emerged in that outfit. So yeah, ditto with my hubby. And I also had to remind him to pick his lower jaw back up off the floor and close his mouth. smh.... lol.................
Nathan and Stana must have had to do a lot of prep for this episode - handling 6 shooters, ropes, a team of horses. I had expected to see Stana on horseback since I remember reading somewhere that she's a rider.
They really did hit most of the western clichés, thought I missed them riding off into the sunset. I was glad they didn't go with the typical procedural cliché of incompetent &/or corrupt small town Sheriff. He was upfront about why he couldn't investigate on his end and once they found the evidence he was there and did his job.
This was such a fun episode! Nathanfan, I think you hit all the highlights. I absolutely laughed when Martha said, "you should have been there", as they were all fuming over not having been there.
Loved all the newlywed goodness, and the fun with the gay guy who was Whitney's "roommate".
I was pleasantly surprised by Gates; I like that they are softening her up. I think she may be more fond of Castle than she actually wants anyone to know.
Loved the ending scene with Kate in the white dress roping Castle. And the closing THE END logo as they are kissing; very much in the style of the old westerns. And loved the western style Castle logo!
And a flash from the past....Castle's reply to Kate when she told him to stay out of trouble when she left with the sheriff....."what's the fun in that?"
Exactly what he said to her in FFYG when she yelled at him for not telling her the safety was on Harrison Tisdale's gun!
So far season 7 is batting .1000!
