Into the world of social media we go tonight. We know Castle's familiar with that so let's see if he plays a key role in solving the case. Come back after the show and share your thoughts.
Just popped in to say that one of my favorite detectives, Ray Vecchio (David Marciano), from Due South played in tonight's episode. He was the cop with the antique shop. How cool to see him again!
I've never had a high profile on social media simply because I haven't ever felt the need to splash my life all over the internet (not that I ever do anything all that exciting). And I mean no disrespect to those who do enjoy using social media; it's just something I've never been comfortable with; maybe a generational thing. Nonetheless, I think I'll probably continue to maintain a low internet profile!
This case was creepy, and definitely a ripped-from-the-headlines story.
I like that Castle is back into putting together the pieces of the puzzle to help figure out the case. And I liked that Gates had Kate's back when that picture of her and Castle was posted. They've really brought her character a long way since she first came on board.
One thing I've always liked about the show is that it's not the exact same focus every week. Some episodes are funny, some are dramatic, some feature one particular character, some are centered on the personal relationships and the case takes a back seat. Tonight was one of those where the case was front and center and I really found myself drawn into it. It's a very timely topic and brought to light a whole host of issues that social media has introduced into our society. Kate's final scene in the interrogation room, when she gets the killer to break, featured some relevant commentary on both people needing to post and what people choose to watch. I can't remember the exact statement so I'll have to add it later after I watch the episode again.
I'm usually the last person to care about the COTW but I totally enjoyed this one and I thought it unfolded really well. I loved seeing Castle put together photo clues and come up with a vital revelation and then Kate got the final piece looking at a photo. Such a Dynamic Duo! Nice twist when it was the boyfriend who was killed. Another aspect that made this more interesting was that the killer was identified earlier than usual and the final climax was actually the interrogation and rescue of the hostages, which, by the way, had me at the edge of my seat! Seeing Espo pull those wires was reminiscent of the 2 parter where Castle saved NYC from a dirty bomb by pulling all the wires. It's nice to change the tempo up now and then. Gates had a fine moment as she, once again, stood firmly behind her lead detective.
As CL66 mentioned above, I was thrilled to see a familiar face guest starring! David Marciano played a Chicago detective in Due South in the mid to late 90's and I loved him in that role. He usually plays cop roles and it was nice that he got the meatiest of the guest roles in this one as the retired cop who helped solve the case. If you are ever looking for another show like Castle that mixes drama and humor beautifully and has a LOT of heart, watch Due South!
And there was a nice amount of humor bookending the episode. Martha was a stitch in the beginning as she tried to prepare Castle for his filming, but what cracked me up the most was Castle's face as he turned away from her. The video spoof at the end was hysterical! I have no doubt that it'll be a part of the DVD extras for season 7 and whoever put it together did a great job. I'm sure it'll be well viewed this week on the internet too. There was also a cute zinger when Kate teased Espo about getting texted pics of girls, inferring that he loved getting pics of Lanie! I also loved the nod to the Ryan Report! I've always read that and it was fun to see it acknowledged.
I'll ALWAYS wish there were more Caskett scenes but this episode had so much more going for it that I really didn't miss them. Kate and Castle were very much on the same page and working together like a well oiled machine and that's fun to watch too.
I have no clue as to how the wedding will come off and I've learned from experience not to take promos at face value. The editing can make you think one thing, only to find it wasn't that way at all. I'm 100% sure there'll be a wedding and will just have to endure the next 2 weeks and then let it all unfold. I've waited a LONG, LONG time for this and I'm hoping and praying that I come away feeling it was worth every minute of the wait.
Solid episode. I also got drawn into the case. Great start to season 7
And my friends & relatives wonder why I'm not on Facebook. I'll stick with these sorts of discussion boards, thank you. If I have anything personal to share I'll send an email to the individual(s) I want to know. Or just call.
I was glad to see Gates stick up for them with 1PP. And good use of Tori; sometimes I feel she's there because someone thinks every procedural has to have a computer geek. Last night they really did need the tech expertise.
The last scene where they're watching the "blooper reel" - anyone else get the feeling they really were watching it, not just reacting to a blank screen? At one point Kate's laughing looked like Stana actually cracking up.
Loved the promo--the wedding the honeymoon--I am thrilled to have the clip—and will re-watch it many, many, many times!!!
For this epi, 7x05 MIME IS MURDER: good COTW and thoughts about social media!!! Good Kate and Rick as crime solvers--and work with the ESPO, RYAN, and GATES team at the precinct, too!!! Loved Kate's and Rick's appreciation for one another's contributions to solving the COTW!!! I appreciated the use and re-use of the “a blip on the Net continuum,” line and Kate's and Martha's excited, bounce/hop/jumps as they, Rick, and Alexis hurry to watch Rick’s webmerical!!!
What a well written commentary this episode was about the downside of social media.
There was an article in today's Green Bay Press Gazette about a local High School. Several members of the football team were suspended for the last game of their season because they were cyberbullying girls in their school over their appearance and dress. Even though there are no rules in the athletic or student code about cyberbullying, the coaches took it upon themselves to suspend the team members(including some starters) because their behavior was just pure WRONG.
I did enjoy this episode. TCOTW was interesting and touched on a timely topic.(Cyber bullying).Maya Stojan as Tori continues to facinate this fan as she works her way into being a regular cast member. Our DD were still looking good together although no mention of the new myth this trip. Unless I missed it.
The highlight for me and I'm sure for most was the post epi trailer for 11/10 (wedding!!!! ) and the 11/17( honeymoon!!!)
Now we are talking Castle fans!!!
Oh! I'm with you all the way Nathanfan when it comes to the wedding!!! I want satisfaction for years of dedication to this show!

This episode did nothing for me, I am getting tired of Castle always being the one to now show Beckett how to solve a case and she and the boys have been doing it without Castle for years. I used to love this show and now I find myself falling asleep and doing other things while it is on I am even watching it in DVR instead of live because I can't get into the cases and they show so little of the cast being together. I used to like Beckett being strong and tough I find her now giddy like a school girl and being lead to figure out the murder and always one step behind Castle figuring out the clues and needing him to solve the cases now for her. am hopeful Castle improves for me as I didn't like the last three seasons as well as the first three. I am still here hoping I will get into the show again as much as I once did. I love the characters they keep me hoping and watching. The actors and crew as wellI found the video at the end of the show just stupid and silly.
