First, let me just say a few things about the 'B' story line. Poor Ryan, having to leave Jenny and Sarah Grace to work a second job and getting bruised in unmentionable places, even if it WAS the cause of some great comedy. I hope he figures he can quit soon. Watching Jon Huertas tease Seamus was delightful! They are very good friends in real life and I felt like Jon was truly enjoying the teasing. He seemed so natural in his smile and his laugh. The "Security" briefs were the perfect gift!
Although Gates had a scene, she wasn't really much of a player in the episode. Then there was Martha! I almost missed the dialogue in the later part of that scene because I was laughing so hard at her walking into the pots and pans alarm system. Now THAT'S my kind of comedy! And my boy, Nathan, sure looked sexy with his bed hair when the lights came on.
This episode really played to Nathan's real MO. He loves his video games, light sabers, and admits to being very prepared for the Zombie Apocalypse. I also thought that he and Stana did a fantastic job of miming being attacked by an invisible force. I think Nathan loves that stuff!
There's no doubt that the highlight of the episode was the sexual tension between Kate and Castle and it was SO SATISFYING to see it again!!!!!!!!!!!! That first scene was a hoot as they stumbled through trying to say what was on both of their minds, but the funniest part of that was when they arrived at the crime scene and Kate mentions her Valentine's present. Castle has to support himself on the attending cop and that kind of physical comedy is wonderful. Then there's the scene at the precinct when they're going toe to toe over the evidence and it's very obviously FOREPLAY! Curse Lanie's interruption!
The first time they tumble into bed, thinking that they're finally going to connect, of course, they're both spooked by thoughts of someone touching or watching them. Again, I was rolling with laughter. Leave it to Castle to have attended Zombie Apocalypse Survival Camp and have the perfect solution, but what was even cooler was that Kate thought it was sexy! When Martha crashed in looking for floss, I almost peed my pants, I was laughing so hard.
When we FINALLY got the desperately desired bedroom scene, I was kind of afraid that it would get too silly with Castle wearing his heat sensing head gear, but they did an awesome job of keeping with the tone of the episode and yet making it a wonderfully sexy and exciting moment. I loved Castle's comment on Kate's hotness and Kate's line about her outfit being invisible. WooHoo! Castle looked mighty gobsmacked and I was too. I hope we see more of their intimacy and delight in each other's presence.
I have nothing but kudos for the Creaseys! This was Castle at its best IMO and it'll sure be fun to get to hear them talk about it in LA in 3 weeks. Outstanding episode!
And thanks for the prayers and kind words.
What a riot--in so many ways!!! How much fun is CLEAR AND PRESENT DANGER!!! Stana and Nathan continue to rock every scene and to hit every single "note"—fun and humorous—relationship and plot development—and certainly, the CASKETT--and the many in sync moments!!!
Way to go, CREASEYS, Kate WOOD, and all!!! RYAN and ESPO are marvelous—also partners—hysterically and supportively so!!! I love Tamala JONES’ Lanie—and need more of her!!! Another laugh: the precinct’s BECKETT, “what would you do if you were invisible?! I’d walk out of here without having to file this report.”
What a romp--in and out of the bedroom!!! Again, go, Stana, Nathan, cast, crew, and team!!! For me, this is up there with NIKKI HEAT as a fun and special re-watch!!!
I adored the opening scene with call back to FLOWERS FOR YOUR GRAVE with Kate and Rick peering over their iPads just as they had sneaked peeks over Rick’s fan mail—their CASKETT readiness—interrupted by a precinct phone call!!!
“Nothing good comes from hustling in Brooklyn” must have been an inside joke!!! Chuckles!!!
Loved Rick’s “Tonight I’ve got something I’d like to uncover back at home,” as Kate assured Rick that she’d model, however briefly, his Valentine’s Day gift!!!
What’s not to love about such perfectly delivered lines as, "Don’t answer that. Don’t. Don’t even. Don’t look at it. Don’t answer it. Don’t pick it up...You picked it up….;” “And you thought Zombie Apocalypse Survival Camp was a waste of time;” “You just kinda make nerdy sexy;” “Oh my God, come here;” “You’ve had no idea how much I’ve missed this;” “You had amnesia for two months, I missed it more;” being “Truly, really alone;” Room Is Clear Except For The Very Hot Object Before Me;” [Add night vision goggles, of course!!!]; Martha seeking and finding dental floss; I’m so sorry. I didn’t know you guys were home, I just wanted a little dental floss and it looks like I found it;” [There is no line or movement that Susan SULLIVAN cannot perfect!!!]; and Stana's/Kate's huffing her hair out of her way, as she did from the closet in AFTER THE STORM!!!
How totally effective is Stana/Kate literally bouncing as the turns out the light in the hottest, fully clothed make-out scene ever!!!—and Nathan’s/Rick’s approval of her later plans, “If it’s something special I got you for Valentine’s Day, I approve”!!! These delights are surpassed only by, the end scenes: Stana’s/Kate’s “Give me a minute and let me slip into something special, okay? It’s even better… It’s invisible;” and Nathan’s/Rick’s god smacked and smitten response!!!
How beautifully underlined were CASKETT’S finding their north star and the solid ground in their relationship in the, according to Dara CREASEY, the unscripted, actors’ choices, Stana and Nathan/Kate and Rick—as they built theory aka engaged in foreplay!!! Nathan’s/Rick’s line, “I’ve missed these mind melds,” another gem!!! Add the several, incredibly in sync movements/scenes, perfection by Stana/Kate and Nathan/Rick—in the precinct, investigations, the bedroom….!!!
Thank you, all CASTLE cast, crew, and team!!! Special nods to special effects—and as ever to Andrew W. MARLOWE aka A.W. MARLOWE, David AMANN, Terri Edda MILLER; Alfred SOLE for sets; Luke RICHLE for costumes; Elizabeth for makeup; writers, Dara and Chad CREASEY; director Kate WOOD; Robert DUNCAN for score—and to all involved for cinematography, lighting, editing, sound….!!! Thank you, too, for the efforts, knowledge and humor shared by live tweeters among cast and crew, and for this inimitable show—our CASTLE!!!
YESSSS!!!! Loved the wordplay and other "play"....could probably watch Kate and Rick glance at each other over the top of their iPads or whatever for an hour....watching the two of them is MAGIC....the pots and pans...they were quite musical actually after Martha ran into them !
Will SAVOR this ep. tonight WITHOUT commercials!
One scene no one's mentioned that had me grinning was when Becket was interrogating the hacker. He obviously underestimated who he was dealing with; not only did Becket get the Lord of the Rings reference but she understood the more academic references and had appropriate come backs for them. Always nice to see the writers remembering that Kate, Rick & Alexis are smart & well educated. One of the things that pulled me in when this show first started was the fact that they didn't dumb down the characters.
CASTLE ROCKS
However, I did think there were some great basic themes that are thought provoking. Like there can be a danger in things that are unseen or not well understood. The whole invisibility suit thing creating fear because people didn't know what was going on. Also, along with that, did anyone else notice in the revelation scene in the lab, the big picture of the ebola virus by the door. Kind of creepy, even considering when they filmed this, the whole outbreak was isolated in Africa. Unseen danger from something you can't see. There's also the idea, as in Spiderman, to those that are given much, much will be required, ie. the more power you have the more responsibility you have to control it. That was the idea behind the suit, and why the hacker guy mentioned Lord of the Rings. Also, there's kind of the antithesis to this. Unseen forces can be good and should be augmented, like love. We don't see the emotion directly, it's indirectly through how we treat others we care about, how we talk to them, how we interact with them. It's the idea of just because you can't see something doesn't mean it doesn't exist. And in that comes the last idea...faith. It's takes faith to believe in something even when you don't see it.
Loved everything about it.

The COTW is based on reality. I've been loosely following cloaking teachnology for ten years plus and back then it was merely a rectangular screen on a suit that allowed you to see through to the other side by bending light waves onto a greenish, low resolution screen. Although the design wasn't a full suit, the goal was to apply it to larger objects like tanks, ships, and aircrafts which would be able to carry a large, heavy power source. I would guess a nuclear powered ship would fit that requirement.
There's not much left to say. I did enjoy taking a break from hearing about wedding plans or Castle's missing two months, quite refreshing, and the storyline follows what Kate said at the end of 7x02 about taking a 30 day break just to "get back to our own lives".
Bravo.
