It's been a big day for Castle casting news. Looks like Gerald McRaney (Simon & Simone, Jericho, Fairly Legal, House of Cards, Longmire, Agent X, etc., etc.) will be joining in for a "legendary" story arc. Here i go again with the latest news tidbit. Bah humbug.
I like Gerald McRaney, but a secret PI society? Pleeaasse. Going on a limb here and going to say they will help Castle solve his missing time. Again, heaven forbid Kate and Rick work together on both their big, life altering cases. Sigh
Are we truly setting up for a S9 of just Castle PI? I tried to avoid that thought for a long time, but Im starting to wonder. Kate who?

I really enjoy Gerald and hope they use him well. I think Nathan will play off him well.
Every time I watch episodes before 623 I see such wonderful Caskett scenes. I miss them....

Yes, as much as I am not a fan of the P.I. arc, I do look forward to seeing Nathan and McRaney play off of one another. I'm a big fan of both actors. |

Gerald has been such a great character actor for such a long time, this should, at the very least, add some zest to the show. He would also had been great as Castle's father. But my question is...HOW DOES KATE FIGURE INTO ANY OF THIS? In episode 14, does she work with Castle at all? So tired of the ARCS.....I always looked forward to the 2 Part-er....but instead we get Castle PI.....I am trying to stay positive here, but come on, who are they kidding? If by episode 14, if things in the relationship and the writing hasn't changed, this show is toast. To me, the most crucial period in the history of this show are episodes 9-13. They need to re-establish Rick and Kate...nothing else matters and nothing else will do. We should get better story lines, I mean, the crew has had a lot of time off to think about things. So, to me, what we don't need is another 3 episode arc. McReany would have, at least, to me, have more impact in a two part-er that ties LokSat in with Rick's vanishing act.
And I don't want Castle PI for a possible season 9, but I would take Murder He Wrote. It just feels like Stana is leaving.
