Attention, Castle fans: Winter is coming. Longtime Castle scribe Terence Paul Winter has been named the ABC procedural’s new showrunner, TVLine has learned. He will preside over the freshly-ordered eighth season.
Winter replaces David Amann, who is exiting after one year on the job. After penning a couple of Season 2 episodes, Winter joined the show as a producer in 2011, rose through the ranks, and was promoted to EP in the middle of this season. Episodes he has written include “The Blue Butterfly,” “Veritas” and “Once Upon a Time in the West.” Speaking of Castle Season 8, sources confirm that negotiations continue between ABC and leading lady Stana Katic.
Also, Chad Creasey tweeted congratulations. So seems legit.

This is great news. That was my suggestion as soon as I read that David was out. Terence Paul aka "old man" Winter seems to be well liked and respected with the writing team. He wrote episode7x22 the 150th.

Well that is Great News!!! So I guess Stana is the last piece of the puzzle. So I guess it's on her now. The show seems to be gearing up for next season. ABC is going ahead one way or the other, so it might as well be with their leading lady!!! Again. GREAT NEWS!!!! AND A GREAT CHOICE FOR SHOW RUNNER. We will Spring ahead with Winter!

Good, we have a season 8 AND a showrunner. Since principal shooting does not begin until JULY there is plenty of time to negotiate Stana's contract.
Everybody can now relax their Sphincters. Okay??
