Anyone missing Andrew & Terri yet? NO !!! They were done and killed everything the show stood for before they left. Too critical ? It's ok. We are open here to say what we feel. Having meet Andrew and Terri I know they put their heart and souls into this show. I still feel that it was ABC that dictated what happened in 623 that changed our show forever. From that episode on the show was lost for me... Sent from my SM-N910V using proboards

I agree with Tycho that Terri and Andrew put their heart and soul into the show right up to the very end, However, I do firmly believe that the wedding debacle and Castle's disappearance were very much a choice that Andrew made. He specifically stated that ending with the perfect wedding felt too much like the end of the series and he was concerned that viewers would have no reason to return to season 7. It was a conscious decision as a storyteller. I just don't think he really understood the depth of emotional connection that we die hard fans had to Caskett. It truly was like a part of us died that night too, and the saddest thing of all is that we would have JOYFULLY returned to witness season 7 without the need for some dramatic cliffhanger.
I never felt that I wanted Terri and Andrew to step aside, despite my disappointment in the non-wedding. The one thing that I think we could have avoided had they stayed, is this ridiculous separation. Andrew always promised that he would not break Caskett up and I do believe he meant that. I think he would have chosen a different approach to season 8. I can't help but wonder if he and Terri saw the problems of working within the constraints of new contracts with more time off for the leads and decided that was a challenge they just didn't want to deal with. We'll never know.

I have great respect for Terri and Andrew. It was obvious that they loved these characters but I will never understand their choices for 623. They completely underestimated the fans' love and loyalty towards Caskett. Openly mocking Kate's "one and done" is something I will never wrap my mind around. I read somewhere that they felt the couple needed more of a level playing field because of Castle's two failed marriages and I find that ridiculous. Then there was the wedding debacle. Even when 623 aired, I really believed they would eventually give us a big wedding in season 7...but it never happened. All we got was a patched together five minutes of green screen. Yes, the vows were wonderful but it wasn't what fans deserved and I'll forever be disappointed by that.
Still, I don't think Andrew would have broken them up. Even if there are contract restraints, there's no reason why they couldn't have given us really strong Caskett scenes and then expanded the storylines for Lanie, Martha, Ryan, Espo, and even Alexis. Personally, I'd love to see more of Martha and Lanie and I'd love to see more of Ryan's home life.
OK, rant over.
