Have we even heard Rick mention anything about writing this season?
Will we get anymore Nikki Heat books or Derrick Storm books? Since Andrew was one of the writers of the books and he is no longer working on Castle I wonder if the books will end with "Raging Heat"?
The whole premise of having him use information that he learned while writing his books to help solve murders has disappeared from the show.
I miss the writer and his fun facts that helped to solve the story...
Any thoughts?

I'm thinking that they chose to end Raging Heat the way they did so that it could be the final book, just as the final episode of season 7 was written to be a possible series ender. Since we haven't heard a word about it, I'm leaning towards Nikki Heat being history.

I also can't remember any mention to writting this season. I think you are right Tycho, either they know there are not going to be any more books or they are still uncertain and can't committ yet to another book. Another possibility is that among everything that has been happening they forgot this detail :-).

He did mention he still has a publisher when he talked with Martha about her book - so thats something. The only time his writing is brought up these days is to knock his talent, so hard to say if he is writing or not. Another sad point about this season. Sigh...

Since we haven't heard a word about it, I'm leaning towards Nikki Heat being history. I, too, had the feeling that Raging Heat felt like the final book. They gave Jameson and Nikki the beautiful wedding that I wanted for Rick and Kate. I think you are right, nathanfan1, that the book and S7 finale were tied to end things. I will miss the books a LOT as I truly enjoyed them all. When the show finally ends, I will enjoy them all one last time to say Goodbye. |

"Driving Heat" is the current book that just came out this year where Rook and Nikki get married. I would think that would be the end of it right there, but I hope not. How can they be written as a married couple now when the couple they are based after can't even act married?! They will have to be "secretly married."
