Yup you summed up what many fans have been feeling this season. I just hope the writers come out of the room long enough to get some real feedback from real fans.
I gave it a D . I never thought I would give this show that grade. Looks like I'm not the only one giving them failing marks.

Christine, you certainly summarized things well. I would agree with just about everything, although it's still a tossup in my mind between Hayley and Vikram....and as long as Alexis isn't brought back in for another annoying plotline. My grade: D

Wonderful article. I was in total agreement. If i could have voted lower than F i would have. Sad times.

Without peeking here, I also gave the show a D. You did a great job, Christine, in summarizing the season. The only thing we differ on is Hayley. I don't mind her character so much as you do but Vikram has to go away. What bothers me the most about S8 is the fact that TPTB took the couple with the most and best CHEMISTRY on TV today and made them almost a subplot with little screen time together. What are they thinking? JMO

I loved your take on Vikram...he is a problem and has ulterior motives.
This was a dark 8 weeks...rated a D...terrible....I can't believe that Producers Fillion and Katic would put up with this.

Christine, you said it all. Agree with everything....although is it mid season after only 8 eps? Gotta long way to go!

I clicked "D" but I would likely give the season more of a "C-minus" There were several things that could have worked and I ordinarily would have liked, had they not been overshadowed by the Caskett separation. I think Hawley and Winter were so intent on "shaking things up" and setting the stage for the next two thirds of the season that they went that one bridge too far and painted themselves into a scenario that many fans are still not willing to follow. It would have been much better had they wrote a more believable premise for Lock-Sat and a more tangible reason for Kate to be involved than to have her go right into rabbit hole mode and run out on her marriage. Her obsession could have been navigated without almost nuking her marriage in the process. She could have tried hiding her investigation without walking out on him and still had that moment in "Mr. & Mrs. Castle" You and I will likely never agree on the Alexis front. I really like what they're doing with her, giving her back her original spunk and letting her be a grown up...finally! Molly is too good an actress NOT to use her more, but that's neither here nor there. Hayley is a keeper in my book, she complicates things, but not in a "getting between Caskett" sort of way. Vikram might have been had they written him in a more likable way and not just as the new cock block for Caskett.

Castle "earned" a D this season. I enjoyed a few scenes and cases from maybe 2 episodes, but, not enough overall Castle-ish highlights. Perhaps I hold Castle in higher regard and expect more than I should. THAT is not my fault (LOL)as the previous show runners managed to Mount Everest peak and valley from time to time. I miss those PEAKS!!!

For dropping the ball when handed a pretty clean slate for season 8... For repeating mistakes made in season 7... For feelings of, "Is this over yet?"... For ruining Martha... For tuning me into Blindspot... F.(Great job sifting through the detritus, ProudTVJunkie)

For tuning me into Blindspot... F.(Great job sifting through the detritus, ProudTVJunkie ) ...................and............ For my OCD tanking as evidenced by: ~ Not caring to read spoilers, watch sneak peeks, or if I fall asleep before 10:00 p.m. EST on Monday nights.... ~ looking forward to Arrow more than Castle.... ~ not yet being willing to watch NOT EVEN ONE episode from this season over again.... ~ my wishing they would've called it "Seven & Done" at the end of last season.... ~ not caring, at this point, if there's a season 9 Yep. I'm now a casual viewer. Lamenting how good it used to be. I'm truly happy for those of you who are enjoying this season. I mean no disrespect to any of you. This is just how I feel. Yep. F. Thanks for all you do, Christine. This show is breaking my heart. And I too, as K-man mentioned, cannot, for the life of me, with Nathan & Stana now being producers, understand how they are okay with this. Just wow.

Oh, a few things I would like to add. First, ProudTVJunkie mentioned failing to find positive trends in her report card but I did find one. I do like the new trend with the music or should I say returning to the old days of playing something besides Robert Duncan's music. Please, don't read that as me knocking his musical talent. I just would love to have both, especially OneRepublic or Pearl Jam/Eddie Vedder. I'm sure what I'm asking is not cheap. Second, I agree with shutterbug5269 . I like Alexis this season even though there's been missteps. Overall, I think her character is improving. It's the PI business I'm not crazy about and seeing Alexis+Rick+PI more than Rick+Kate+12th that's just not working for me. Third, keep in mind that even though I graded the first 8 episodes with an F, even though I posted the ABC midseason report link from TV Fanatic that hinted at a possible cancellation, I'm not wishing for an end to the show. I'm grading the season so far based on what I've seen and I don't believe the last 3 minutes of "Mr. & Mrs. Castle" nullifies the previous 320+. The show may be set up to do great things for the remainder of season 8 but I'm not grading them on potential and possibilities for joy.

They actually let Rob Duncan use a studio to record tracks for this season so they had to increase three music budget for him. Glad to see someone is listening. ;D Sent from my SM-N910V using proboards

I gave it a C, just couldn't press the D. Just my hopeful streak, though I agree with everything everyone has said above. I so want the "magic" back. Hoping that there is a season 9 and we have a miracle for the rest. Of this, season, but not counting on it.
