Well...is the end nearing? Did not plan to be so cynical; however, there maybe matters that do appear to foretell that. Have you noticed that this year there has been only one thread that mentioned 'Peoples' Choice Awards' which the show nominated, Stana nominated, and Nathan nominated? Did you vote; or, was your silence your vote? There have been comments about 'changes' in cast and show staff. Has the first part of the season been a 'concept test', maybe 'show writing and direction marketing and resume development' for some new shows? Now here is an interesting article: www.spoilertv.com/2015/12/usd-poll-if-castle-had-spin-off-series.htmlI want to believe that I am mistaken; but, all this concerns me about the future.

I can't see a spin off of Alexis or a Ryan/Espo show. People watch Castle for Nathan and Stana.

No, I don't think the show is doomed yet, there is still the chance (however slim at this point) that the showrunners may indeed deliver the payoff for the dismal first third of the season that they promised.
The only thing we can do for now is hope that they really did have a plan to right the ship so to speak.
I'm not confident, but hope is all we have left at this point.

Larry, I think a LOT of us share your concern over the future of CASTLE.

I can't see a spin off of Alexis or a Ryan/Espo show. People watch Castle for Nathan and Stana. Sent from my SM-N910V using proboards It would have to be a minor character with a history running parallel with Castle and Beckett so we can see how the story unveils from a different perspective which means the best choice is Senator Bracken. A spinoff from his POV and involving Monty and Beckett's parents starting from the early days before Johanna's murder. Would have to be a serious show. I'd watch.

I did vote, and still voted often! Castle pisses me off this season, but I still like it better than other stuff out there. I can't see a spinoff for any character, that would last. I'm hoping for another season, just to fix this one and give us a good ending. My fingers and toes are crossed.

I guess we will have to see where we are 13 shows from now. What Amann brought together, the new show runners tore apart. David integrated all the characters and wove them into the fabric of the show. We saw people having a good time working together and the night all of them took a line from the Bulldog Lawyer commercial and totally nailed it, I realized that this is what Marlowe was working towards. All the storylines intertwining. They even had a great Finale with Hollander's Woods that left the door open but also left us feeling good if that was it.
The new show runners took great care in dismantling a very dynamic relationship that Marlowe had worked so hard to build. In the process, they also tried to make us understand how much in love they were with each other. They failed miserably. They simply were out of their league. Terrible ARC...destruction of the Beckett Soul, putting her back at square one and Castle was trying so hard to be patient that he forgot to be a man. He regressed, she regressed, the relationship is now in a very awkward place. Rick does not trust her, Kate only cares about Truth, Justice and the American Way, all of the name of the Greater Good of the Country. She may be home, but she is living in the Rabbit Hole that she wanted so desperately to get out of. There is a wall that kinda went back up. It was as frustrating an eight weeks as I have ever seen. Each episode got more frustration and we took sides as did the characters. No fun. no electricity, no role playing, no attraction. Just darkness. And oh yes....there was Vikram.
I think the show runners were desperately trying to tear them apart so they could put them back together, only stronger and deeper in love. Again......THEY CHOKED. AND THE FANS NOTICED AND THEY SNEERED AND THEY DID SOMETHING THEY THOUGHT THEY WOULD NEVER HAVE TO DO AGAIN......THEY FELT THE ANGST OF A SOUR RELATIONSHIP THAT JUST GOT WORSE. The magic was gone and so were the fans.
Is this show done? I don't know. They are hanging onto a thread and a promise to the fans that it will get better. I don't trust them like I don't the new Beckett. I hope they have a miracle floating around somewhere. The only saving grace is that ABC might take pity on the show that they penciled into the 10pm time slot for the last 8 seasons. And maybe bring a new show runner who understands the fans and the premise of the show and depth of the love that these two shared and the pain and suffering that these two went through in order fall into one of the great loves of all time.
Is it too late.....probably....but they were canceled after season one and look what happened. Such is the thing that miracles are made of. I just don't know if Nathan and Stana have anything left in the tank. And I have no faith in the show runners to pull it off.

I agree with all of your responses. As for the People's Choice awards, I have voted this year but not nearly as much as I have the previous years. I don't think Castle or any of its cast will win this year. Kman: you hit the nail on the head as you always have done!
