I pretty much agree with your review. First, it was nice to have the banter back while Rick and Kate were on the ship. I kind of get what the showrunners were going for now. The humor and both of them thinking alike, it was like past seasons. Now, like you, I kept thinking that Vikram needed to be shot. Every time he was on screen, I was yelling....and I normally don't talk to my TV. Haley was actually OK and served a purpose. Martha seemed out of character this time....guess it was finally her turn!
I agree with you regarding the whole Rick and Kate situation. Rick should've been more upset, but he is in love, and he's never stayed mad at Kate for long. I'm also willing to forego any logic to get them back to working together. I think Kate just got too tired of trying to hide and lie to Rick. So, I'm assuming that they will pretend to be apart still? At least the reason this time makes sense, and hopefully everyone gets back into character.

I did think it was quite interesting that Vikram's attempt to keep Kate from revealing anything to Castle actually put him on the scent. I kinda get that he was doing what Kate said she wanted, but he really needs to trust her judgment more.
Is it weird that I hope Castle sends him the bill for wrecking his office server?
What Castle said to Kate was exactly what I was hoping he would say. That he would hold her actions up to the cold light of day for how foolish they were. I'm kinda hoping we see some more fence mending on her part going forward.
Perhaps some of that "figuring things out" she lied about doing when she started them down this road.

I kind of agree with everything you said, I felt the ending was too rushed and was very choppy, it took 8 episodes of them apart and 10 minutes to get back together, I am so happy they are together, but it seemed to me that it was an after thought and needed to be done before the break.

Do I like it? No. Do I buy it? Not really. Am I willing to accept it just to move forward from this ridiculous story line? Yes. Perfectly said, Christine! I will love this episode if for no other reason than it ended this pitiful arc. I'm willing to forgive a lot for that reason alone.

I'm wondering if the separation arc is moving to them pretending they're still separated so Rick can run a parallel investigation behind the scene without Vikram or anyone else knowing about it? Kate must be suspicious with Vikram's forceful insistance that the two remain separated, including the anniversary interruption. With Rick and Kate sneaking around like a couple of forbidden high school lovers, we'll probably get a lot of comedy and hijinks. It also keeps Hayley relevent.

I agree with almost everything you said. Just as you say, I also don't but it but I' m willing to accept it and move forward. Did I get to that point the showrunners mentioned of thinking "oh, this is where they were heading"? No. I got the feeling that there was no need for this storyline and they could have started where we are now. Let's all hope we are now in the right track.
Regarding Martha, I can understand if she is trying to protect her son and preventing that he involves himself again in something dangerous.

As it is with all of you, Im just glad this ridiculous split is done but how we got here did not leave me warm and fuzzy. The episode itself was ok - not great. I too cant stand Vikram and wish Kate would tell him to lay off with the off remarks about Castle. The 2 main scenes left me cold. Probably the first time i can say that about any Caskett scene. Liked what Rick said in the first scene, but Kate said little or nothing to rebuff or make her case. I felt so badly for his "broken heart". The loft scene...well terrible. No love there at all in my opinion. She was cold (seems to be a trend this season) and he had sudden amnesia. It was rushed - so much could/should have been said. Then, lets hop into bed. Dumb. They didnt even do that after 'Cloudy'. Just really disappointed and not looking forward, really, to reliving S5.

lindy - It’s like every week they have to write at least one character completely out of character. This week was Martha’s turn. Although I think she’s been off all season, her comments in this hour bothered me the most. What bugs me is that a fake separation could have been fun if they’d started it back in 803. Now I just hope it doesn’t drag out too long. shutterbug5269 - Yeah, I’m hoping they just don’t drop the trust issues between them but deal with them in some way as we move forward but I’m afraid to hope for anything this season. marschg - “it took 8 episodes of them apart and 10 minutes to get back together.”Exactly. It feels like a waste of half a season. angie1379 - “I will love this episode if for no other reason than it ended this pitiful arc.”Yup. No matter how they ended it, at least it’s over. java - “Kate must be suspicious with Vikram's forceful insistance that the two remain separated, including the anniversary interruption.”You would think so…and I hope so…but she really didn’t appear so to me. And boy, did I hate Vikram in this episode! joana - Yeah, the show runners kept saying we could expect some great payoff. Well, I certainly didn’t see that but at this point, I’m just happy we’re moving forward. castlefan8 - Yes, I felt the final scene where they get back together should have been far more dramatic…but nothing can be done about it now. The actors are more than capable so I blame the writing. I’m just hoping for better as we move forward.

I enjoyed your revue, as always. I've gotten to the point this year of accepting all the characters. I'm to the point of kinda liking Hayley. I think Kate's radar should be going off like crazy over Vikram. I don't trust him. He's working very hard to keep Caskett apart. WHY? I was not upset, at all, how Rick handled Kate. He spoke firmly and let her know he was sick of her BS and she listened. If he shouted, Kate would of just pushed back and a fight would of ensued. When he spoke his piece and made his final comment and walked away, Kate looked like he had slapped her. She looked, to me, like she wanted to go after HIM rather than do her job. Rick finally showed some backbone and let her know his feelings without having a knock down drag out fight. It worked for me. I agree with those who felt the last scene was a little contrived and could of been done better BUT it did the job. MAMC left me with hope and a sincere desire that the rest of the season will make us forget what we have seen thus far.

When Kate is with Vikram and he makes a suggestion regarding Castle, the look she give him is almost a, are you kidding me, just do your job look. I am probably very wrong but I don't think he is a bad guy. I get the impression that he is very frightened and knowing how Castle delves into things, he is afraid he might expose them before they have their answers. It will be interesting to see how they ferret information from the lawyer without his becoming suspicious. I am looking forward to some great episodes in the coming year.

Well that's it. The two month winter hiatus has begun.
Hawley and Winters have exactly FOURTEEN EPISODES to knock our socks off if they want to recover from this mess with anywhere near the audience the show used to have. They have absolutely no credibility left with the core fandom or the casual viewers as far as I can tell and trust in their vision is at an all time low. (in my case near the negative digits)
And by FOURTEEN EPISODES I mean they had better pull out all of the stops and knock it out of the park with every single one of them. They have hit us with all of the "filler" setup episodes in one batch, now they need to give us the meat they promised and really sock it to us. They, like Kate will have to earn back the trust they cost themselves.
They've used up all of the goodwill they started with, now it's time for them to earn their pay.
I am not at all confident, but they have kinda set the bar for themselves rather low, but the bare minimum will not cut it.
