Nice twist, using the nobody notices the person pushing the mail cart trope that often frustrates investigations to their advantage. And someone actually recognized Kate. Ironic it was a group of society types recognizing her as Castle's wife, the cop, rather than from her shooting or bringing down Bracken. But it has surprised me how rarely she's recognized in public. Guess the usual perps don't read Page 6 (or whatever on-line equivalent).

Rick gave her something to think about last night. And then he completely turned the tables on her, telling her that he is all in until she feels differently. I can't explain it, but something tells me that Rick is getting ready to turn her world completely upside down. It would make perfect sense in this LAME ARC. She shut him out and now he is going to make it impossible for her stay away. His love for her is going to wear her down, like last night, and she won't be able spend another night away.
But this lying thing has to stop.

I thought of one more thing I forgot to mention last night. I was very pleased that Kate was the one who initiated the delayed anniversary dinner. Castle wasn't begging her to reschedule, she came willingly to the loft, totally shocking him, and - how appropriate - had Remy's in hand. It's the first crack we've seen in her resolve to maintain the separation and I'm thankful that there was some forward movement.

Just as I'd hoped, I was able to grab some YUMMY pics from last night's episode! FYI, they're in the Yummy Nathan thread.

That kiss, indeed!
I felt that one straight through my midsection. It was so perfect and wonderfully unexpected. Even though I had hoped to see a kiss, I did not see that coming, and actually caught my breath when it happened. How many times, in how many situations, especially in the first four seasons did we all but beg Castle to just kiss her, and this time, he finally did.
And wow!
I know a lot of people across the fandom are still quite upset because the reunion was not permanent, and I can’t pretend I didn’t have higher hopes for stronger resolution. But I truly don’t want to reduce my satisfaction to just “I’ll take what I can get.” What I’m feeling is more than that. I guess I have to grudgingly admit that I reached the point Hawley and Winters have promised us: I was genuinely rooting for them (But that’s doesn’t mean I’m ready to forgive this horrible storyline. There were other ways to achieve this end!). Still, I enjoyed watching them work to be together, and my heart melted when they found their way back to one another, even if it was only for the evening.
It’s no secret I’ve been very supportive of Castle’s efforts to court Kate over the past several weeks, and The Last Seduction just reinforced that support. I won’t knock a love that deep and committed, and I won’t abide calls for him to teach Kate a lesson or to punish her for her actions. That’s simply not love.
My one caveat is that I fear the writers are setting up a role reversal in terms of the “time out” when this LockSat issue is resolved. Castle’s comment to Ryan that a relationship can’t survive lies and secrets was a little too prophetic for me when combined with his discovery at the end that Kate is indeed hiding something from him. The worst case scenario I can imagine is that when LockSat is solved and Kate is able to return, Castle will be the one asking for time apart in order to come to accept his wife’s betrayal, thus prolonging the separation. I desperately hope I’m wrong, but there’s some worrisome writing on the wall right now.
Anyway, back to the episode.
I loved seeing Castle and Beckett together again, and I loved the pillow talk, which revealed Kate’s fears over the risk she is taking. She is putting a lot of faith in her husband’s unconditional love, and seeing Castle reaffirm that his hope and love are constant was so incredibly touching. He truly is an amazing man, and Kate really does know it.
I don’t agree with characterizations that this was some kind of cheap booty call. Honestly, as someone who has been married for 12 years, I found myself practically envying them this rare opportunity to experience a long-anticipated reunion. That first kiss and first night after so long apart must have been just euphoric, and I won’t begrudge them their indulgence.
All that said, I’m still not on board with the justification of the separation in the first place. I’m still holding out hope that we will get some reinforced vindication on that front, but this episode didn’t provide it.
As for Ryan and Espo, I found myself totally invested in both their rift and reunion. At first, I was afraid that the butt-shooting was some cheap stunt, so I was glad to see it had real consequences. Like the fight at the end of Season 4, this split had real teeth and was very plausible. Ryan’s insecurity after failing the sergeants test is neither unsurprising nor improbable. Something like that stings. The shooting was an accident, borne of carelessness, borne of preoccupation and resentment. His head was not in the game, and he made a devastating mistake that Javi had every right to be angry about.
The resolution was equally unexpected and brought so much emotion to their truce. Sometimes, it takes a whole lot of perspective to make things right, and Javi realizing that Kevin, despite his family at home, would still risk his life for his partner was incredibly bittersweet.
So yes, I agree with most people’s assessment that this was the best episode we’ve had all season. It was witty, deep, tender, hot, and far more satisfying than anything else we’ve had so far. I think there’s still a long way to go toward reversing the damage caused by this break-up, but after last night, I’m optimistic it can be done. The show can still make me feel and invest, and that makes me quite happy. More of the same would be most welcome!

But I hope they deal with this issue quickly and don't drag it.

I don't think or see that anyone on here considered that as a cheap booty call. Rather a monumental leap toward resolution of a particularly difficult situation. Making love might have been a better term than sex but my heart was in the right place.I promise! 27 years here.I understand completely.

Sorry, Arky, I should have clarified that I wasn't referring to anyone here, but rather other comments I've seen throughout the fandom, on Tumblr and such. It wasn't widespread, but there were enough comments to get me thinking about why people might see it that way. My guess is most of the people who feel that way have never been married

Tried to post this yesterday from my phone but it didn't take. I've noticed several comments about why Hailey (sp?), aren't there other female cops Kate could have used? Obviously, but I think Hailey worked for several reasons. First, she was there, with legitimate business. She and Kate have interacted enough that they could keep up the casual chatter of friends out for a spa day. And it avoided the potentially awkward situation of an officer or detective having to spend the day with her boss, in towels, pretending to be friends.

I also agree, ddcnj. I thought Haley was used perfectly in that situation.

Hi everyone
Just wanted to say how good it was to read all the positive comments in spite of the beyond pathetic separation that most fans are still not able to understand, let alone accept.
Obviously I have yet to see anything of S8 apart from scenes that are posted on the tube. Seeing those scenes out of context I couldn't really react to them. That ending however.... Watching that scene I thought of two people having an affair with Kate being married and having to return to her family with the "see you around" not knowing when she would be able to sneak some time with Rick again. That said as Castle, it was great to see the 'in love Kate' smiling and the way she was swinging her legs, just carefree, happy. Also there was something very intimate about the way they were talking. It was the tone of voice that Nathan used. And I liked the way he made his way to the phone but then just briefly as Kate was leaving you get that dark expression that Nathan has given to Rick. It also showed that Nathan & Stana still have 'it' when they are actually allowed to be in the same scene at the same time in each other's personal space. At least for me and just makes the reason for the split all the more stupid.
Also can anyone explain the weird ball of light before Kate rolls onto her back?
B.x
