The standard expression for tonight is, "Happy Anniversary!" Let's hope we all come away feeling that way. Please share your thoughts about the episode afterwards.

I think this is the first episode since the season premiere that I can actually say I enjoyed. As much as I am ready for this stupid separation to be over already, this episode actually had a lot of the old Caskett magic in it.
This is the first episode since 8.02 that I've actually seen some of that "spark" that the new showrunners have been saying all year that they wanted to bring back to the show. Think maybe they started seeing the light somewhere about how that actually works?
I was not happy with the discord between Espo and Ryan, but fortunately that got resolved in one episode, and didn't get dragged out.
I was not expecting the separation to be ended in this episode, but I was happy to see that at least they at least did talk. Happy that Kate reassured Rick that they still have a future. Now maybe we will stop seeing all these ridiculous Castle attempts to "win" his wife back. The whole ridiculous premise for this separation aside, I also hated seeing what a buffoon they were making of Castle.
And I'm sure that text message on Kate's phone has got the wheels turning in Castle's head. He knows now that there is something else going on, and he's not going to stop until he figures it out.
There may be hope for Season 8 yet!

A lot of LOL moments but meh, blech, ugh, pffft!!! Everything reminded me of how we got here with 2 arcs I detest. Hate the Ryan/Espo arc because it's nothing compared to their fight at the end of season 4 when Ryan told Gates that Beckett and Espo were going at it alone. So well done. And obviously I hate the separation arc and the weak justification for it.
And then Rick opens the door to Kate and I'm pulled back to the season 4 finale and their history of opening doors and coming together. Kate walks in and Rick just goes for the kiss. He didn't ask. He didn't wait. "Hey, quit asking permission." Thank you Slaughter. And that right there is the magic. The bedroom scene. The pillow talk. The continuing secret that Castle now knows of so he can pursue later. All details.
But that kiss. That was magic. I want magic.

I'll definitely comment on the 2 main story lines but first, I'd like to say that I was fine with both Hayley's and Alexis' roles in this episode. Hayley getting involved in the spa scene was really just opportunistic and the reason she was in Kate's office was good continuity from the previous case with the painting. I thought using Alexis in the sting operation was downright clever and I never saw it coming. I found both characters enjoyable tonight. It's felt like a while since we've had a good old mirroring episode. Tonight filled the bill perfectly with Ryan and Espo dealing with the rift in their partnership and mirroring many of the same basic issues Kate and Castle are facing. Naming Castle as their buffer was an acceptable way to get him involved in the COTW without having to use the PI business as an excuse. Castle honestly did try to help the guys too. His first recommendation to role play each other's POV led to an hysterical impression of Ryan and his walk by Espo. Castle's second suggestion, to write down the impulsive comments, also led to some fun and, in the end, saved Ryan's life as well as the partnership. I liked Castle comment about having tried this during his marriage to Gina. That was a nice bit of continuity. As much as I was disappointed that the anniversary dinner imploded, I applaud Kate and Castle for agreeing that they needed to be there for their friends at this critical time. The parallel counseling conversations and the editing that blended them was so well done and had so very much meaning for all 4 of them. I especially loved Castle's comment that no relationship could survive secrets and lies. It was clear that Kate was taking to heart a lot of what she was telling Espo too. The final scene with the guys in Kate's office was a beauty. I got emotional when Espo spoke to Ryan and felt that the acting from both Seamus and Jon was outstanding throughout this episode. Let's hope that their reconciliation is foreshadowing things to come SOON between Kate and Castle!!!!!!! On the Caskett front, I wanted to strangle Kate in the beginning when her first reaction to Castle's dinner invitation was that she doesn't think it's a good idea. After Castle's passioned response, she gives in, although later Vikram tells her he thinks it's a mistake. (Just shoot him! ) I certainly enjoyed seeing Kate and Castle in the same room at the same time for more than 3 minutes this episode. I can't say that the magic was back for me but it didn't grate on me as it has been doing. Castle's visit to the divorce lawyer and Kate watching it all was heart wrenching and I loved the way both Nathan and Stana played that scene. They're both so good at communicating through their facial expressions. I have to admit to being pleasantly surprised that we got an intimate scene at the end. Can't say I ever gave that a snowball's chance in Hell given this story arc. However, I also can't say that it resounded emotionally for me because there are still secrets between them and that makes me feel empty. I was EXTREMELY glad that there was direct talk about their time out and about hope and not just the physical scene with no communication. At least Castle has some reassurance that his hope is well founded and, being the guy he is, I'm sure he was happy to have even a few hours with his wife during this time out from the time out. That being said, my overall reaction was frustration because a scene like that was SOOOOO unnecessary! Sorry, but I still can't find a decent justification for this separation arc. In the end, I hope Castle has a starting place for finding out what Kate's doing, as Slaughter advised him to do, but at the same time, that feels like another multi-episode journey that will draw the separation out even longer. I sincerely hope they prove me wrong next week. I did enjoy the episode but there's still a bit of a red flag when the most emotional I got was Espo's speech to Ryan. I invested my whole heart in the Caskett relationship and their separation is making it very difficult for me to find that same level of emotional connection any more.

John Terlesly was back directing this episode. He is the one who thought up"the best handshake ever". He knows the characters well and brings out the best in them. I enjoyed this episode. The ending bed scene was a bit strange with Castle sitting on the floor and Kate in the bed. I would have loved a nice snuggle scene. I guess they did this so Castle could see her phone? Hopefully Castle will figure this all it next week and we will see our crime solving duo back very soon.

Nathan fan? Hello? Someone better check to see if she's still breathing after seeing Nathan shirtless! CF40? Castlekat? Y'all OK? Thanks for your concern, CL66! You certainly have me nailed perfectly! My, my, that man was looking fine. Too bad we didn't have a wardrobe malfunction with the darn bed covers when he went for the phone. I'm hoping someone puts up a nice screen cap of him sitting beside the bed so I can add that to my collection. CF40 - I know you'll be doing the same thing!!!!!!!!

I’m smiling over 8x07 THE LAST SEDUCTION, written by Rob HANNING and directed by John TERLESKY and impeccably acted by Stana/Kate, Nathan/Rick, Molly/Alexis, Jon/ESPO, and Seamus/RYAN with wonderful contributions from the entire CASTLE cast, crew, and team!!!
I’m happy to see RYSPOSITO together, bros and partners, absolutely—closer than previously thought as they work to become sergeants and grateful that Kevin would give his life for Javi, who is thrilled and relieved that the notebook, detailing their issues, saved Kevin’s life!!!
I laughed out loud as RYSPOTL all three volunteered to go undercover with Kate for spa day, even though Hayley got the nod for the mission and was up to the suspect chase with Kate, the latter marginally fortified by munching one of her crisp, cucumber chip eye patches!!!
Yay, the con to get the log book from the dastardly, divorce attorney!!! Way to go, Alexis, so coolly getting the needed evidence!!!
From Kate’s poignant look at her anniversary date and photo through Rick’s elaborate celebrations and invitation—“big and just like you”—to spend together the anniversary he can’t bear to spend apart, right up to Kate’s smiling acceptance and Rick’s joyous smiles at her, “I would love to have dinner with you”!!! Yes, a time out from their time out, indeed!!!
Oh, those “operation boo-yah” very big and very like CASTLE, Kate-described, anniversary surprises!!! When Kate calls Rick, “a wise man with a big heart and rather good looking, too, Rick encourages Kate to “pace herself on the flattery, as she has to get through a whole dinner”!!! CASKETT variously describe strong, secret and lie free relationships which endure!!! Mutually, “Mom and Dad” put dinner on hold to offer RYSPOSITO the support that the “parents” believe that the “boys” need!!!
I loved CASKETT’S “time in” loft, long kiss and embrace!!! How lovely to revel with CASKETT in their post-sex, clasped hands, touching, even, I think, finding their wedding rings; their “even better than I remember” with “a few moves left for year two” happiness; their kisses; their sheet-wrapped maneuvers; and their exchanges about Kate’s listening via video chat to Rick being questioned about his desire for divorce or hope for his marriage!!! Ah, Rick states, “I’ve never given up hope since the day we met, unless you tell me we should;” and Kate responds, “Well, then, don’t”!!!
Not, I feel, without love and concern for one another, neither Rick nor Kate speaks honestly about the phone message Rick sees on her phone!!! As their time out ends, CASKETT parts, “I’ll see you.” I can’t wait for 8x08, MR.AND MRS. CASTLE!!!
Repetitive, but I’d so love more Lanie, including her back story!!!

First episode I've watched twice. Much to like, lots of laughs, wise words and feelings that applied to the both the active participants and the listeners...and THE KISS scene!!!!!!!!! (I'm anxiously awaiting castlekat and her gigunda font size exclamations!!!! ). I am disappointed with Kate's goodbye to Rick (can't remember the exact words), but hate when she compartmentalizes herself back to the stupid Loksat and closes herself off. Oh, well. I'm cautiously optimistic for the future, although the "secrets and lies" remain to be dealt with. One thing I loved was when Kate picked the piece of red confetti off Rick...which reminded me of that awesome video with Kate in her red dress, the pool table, the red rose petals....when she picks a petal off of Castle's clothing. Anybody know where that video can be found?
