Broken Vows are a terrible thing to waste....So Kate, your life became extraordinary...you learned from the master to be your best self.  Is this really your best self Kate? You wanted to look forward to the adventure's that life had to offer. You were the Blooming Rose....that's all your husband ever wanted from you. He wanted you to be the best you could be...always... and he basked in the glory of watching you outshine the sun. HE IS THAT MUCH IN TUNE AND IN LOVE WITH YOU. .  Where are you Kate?  Where have you gone? The bloom is off the rose,  the warmth of the embrace is now cold and calculating. You left a man you loved wondering what he did wrong this time to ruin a marriage.  REMEMBER THE WORDS MEREDITH TOLD YOU AS SHE WAS LEAVING...WELL,  SHE WAS DESCRIBING YOU TO A TEE!. I won't say you are selfish, I won't say you value your work more than your marriage. Many people do that. But hold the phone folks....Kate...this is just not you....so why? Why did you make this decision to turn your back on your vows and your husband?

Well....you didn't...the writers and show runners did. 

So have the writers take your  vows that mean nothing and put them for bid on EBAY.  $7.99 or your best offer.  Let someone else use them because if and when you decide to come back,  your world will never be the same.  You are going to have to change yet again. Your  husband, who already knows that you don't share,  worries because when the phones rings, he is listening, when the text bell chimes, he is looking. You have a lot of work ahead and I don't know if it can be repaired by simply walking through a door and chanting "I am so so so sorry Castle...." The writers have a lot of work to do, because this show is about as real as it gets...or it used to be. Yes...trust is earned, but this time, there is so much damage that I don't know if even we can forgive and forget. We may need therapy as well.

First I have to admit to laughing out loud over the title of this new thread. Unfortunately, the laughter was of the sarcastic nature because Kman pretty much nailed it. I'm adding my "Amen."

Well said kman! Whose were indeed beautiful vows (even if in the wrong setting) but I have to wonder if anyone would bother to bid for them if the original orators gave them up soo easily? I do understand that one person's junk is another person's treasure....

IMO, there's another way to look at the vows that kinda, sorta ties season 8 back to season 4 but, unfortunately, in a realistic and negative way, which isn't why we're all here. We want magic.

Not everyone successfully live up to their vows. Time, circumstances, and challenges take their toll. Some couples blow up just in time for an annulment while others take 20 years. Some people after they're married let themselves go physically, emotionally, mentally. Their mentality is that they're married now and they no longer have to do anything. Yikes.

Javi explains the canoe analogy to Kevin in 4x10, "Cuffed". If the canoe is going in a straight line, both spouses are working together and compromising to make the marriage work. But if the canoe is going around in a circle, so is the relationship. Of course, that's the irony with Javi. He gives some great advice and sometimes not.

So what we have here is a couple not in sync, not rowing together. That doesn't necessarily mean there's a lack of love. They just need to find their rhythm again and find their way together. But can a marriage survive when one declares their love for the other yet goes off in a different direction? Well, that's an individual decision so it's up to Rick but I don't think there's a right or wrong answer, merely a decision he has to live with.

Yes, it's a lousy plot device given everything they've been through together. Yes, it risks losing more viewers leading to declining ratings and upping the chance of a cancellation. No, I don't want to watch this unfold either and I'm hoping for a quick resolution so I can forget it just like the equally forgettable "The Disappearance" from season 7.

But, given Kate's nature, is it realistic?
