I'll resist my negativity for the PR fantasy...but the commenters "handles" are pretty amusing, very COLORFUL ...for example, CYANbike, BLUEcontroller, GREENglasses, BLUEleaf, CYANguitar, REDsubmarine, ORANGEcarrot, GREENpaw, GREENdog, ORANGEtag, GOLDseahorse, GREENcactus, BLUElights... well, you get the gist...but that leaves lots more luscious colors available.... MAGENTA FUSCIA ULTRAVIOLET BLUE BURNT SIENNA UMBER CERULEAN BLUE COBALT BLUE VIRIDIAN SAP GREEN VIOLET ALIZARIN CRIMSON OK, back to my bat cave.

A lot of obscure doubletalk in that last paragraph. They are "really excited about how this first part of the season has come together". They may be just about the only people who are; certainly the fans have made it clear that they are anything but excited about this first half of the season. Are they still just trying to spin it or are they really that clueless about all of the complaints that have been posted across the web about what they have done. I can only imagine what they think "a really dynamic, really positive" ending to the fall finale will be. And what new "exciting" things they have planned for the New Year.

We've been reading from the beginning that this season would bring back the fun but so far, apart from the fun moments with other characters, I haven't seen any caskett fun. So, I am also wondering what "fun and exciting" might mean. But I hope that we will be somehow positively surprised...

They did film on the Queen Mary that is in Long Beach. I think it was only one day so there will probably not be a lot on the ship? They might have built a temp set to use for inside the ship back at Raleigh Studio. At least they will have to be in the scenes together if they are stuck on a ship at sea right?

Together, make up, CASKETT--sounds fine to me!!! (:>) I love your enthusiasm and I'm thankful to ProudTVJunkie for providing a forum that encourages and tolerates different opinions as well as having members who police themselves. I hope those who are keeping silent, members and lurkers, will eventually come forth to discuss and express their opinions and ideas about this show. Or not. You don't have to say anything either. My challenge and I won't speak for others is credibility. Season 7 wrapped up and mostly righted the ship in the sense that the finale left us with a mostly clean slate. Possibilities were many but confined to the particulars of the show. The leads were married, 3XK and his disciple are dead, Bracken is in jail. New show runners were brought in and I think one of the two had prior Castle experience. Great. And then the wheels feel off. First episode was to build up for the second. Editing was fantastic. Loved it. But then they exhume the Dragon arc with his partner and our leads are separated with a weak justification. Right away the two show runners, not having earned the fandom's trust yet, go forth and upset the Castle universe and waste the fandom's goodwill. So how do I trust them to get this show back on track? How do I trust anything they say? It's not like they can refute using Rick's argument, "Because of everything we've been through together." They haven't been around long enough to earn that trust. They haven't earned the right to ask the fans to stick around to see what they have in store for us. That's the same lines Marlowe used for season 7. Imagine you're at your favorite restaurant. It's Monday night and you've ordered the 6 course dinner like you've been doing for years. Now, imagine that the restaurant is again under new management and they promise the food will be exciting and back to the way it used to be but after 2 courses it's terrible. You complain. Next course is also mediocre or terrible. You complain again but management keeps telling you to keep eating because eventually dessert will make up for it. Huh? That pretty much sums up season 8 for me.

Java, that's a really great analogy, especially because I don't want to wait until dessert to enjoy my meal. It's not fair or right to string people along with the promise of a payout after weeks of disappointment.
But I also can't quite give up hope that I'll get that crazy-excited-wonderful feeling of watching Castle and Beckett come back together again. I guess I need to believe I can get excited about the show again, if for no other reason than the alternative is even more unbearable than putting up with the current storyline. I just can't give up, and hope is the only thread I have to hold on to.

Java, thank you for your kind words; and I reflect on and learn from what you and other write!!! As my parents always said, "It would be a boring old world if we all felt the same"!!! I can't predict future thoughts or reactions; but if I say or write something, it is what and how I genuinely feel!!! I'm sorry for your and for so much disappointment, anger, frustration, pain...each person's own feelings and opinions; but I am not there!!! I've previously spoken and written about what I liked and didn't about 6x23 (I would rather have had the wedding [Although the actual wedding vows were lovely!!!], then the disappearance; and I loved the bureaucratic clerk, the Rogan O'LEARY mug shots, Rick/Kate on the bench, and Kate/Martha and Kate/Lanie scenes--for me, S7--and of course, other seasons, offered lovely, sweet, hot CASKETT scenes!!! I would love, as Stana spoke about, a spicy, married--with challenges to be sure--couple of dauntless detectives--but that is not the choice now, notwithstanding the, to me, obvious CASKETT love made apparent in S8!!! I've no doubt that I've made that and my appreciation and anticipation apparent!!! IMHO, neither show runners nor writers, past, present, or future owe me meeting my expectations; in fact, I've always enjoyed the ways in which I could neither imagine nor predict what would happen--and I'm very grateful to creators, show runners, writers, cast, crew, and team for CASTLE and for CASTLE and for CASTLE friendships and joys!!! But that doesn't mean that I don't sympathize with other, devoted fans, who feel quite differently!!! Just pondering here...perhaps, it's likely that I'm so gratefully and joyfully absorbed in the world of adult children and grandchildren!!! Retirement, while hardly without responsibilities, does not mean reporting to a job outside the home--and after/along with family, is such a gift of magic moments and memories--truly, I'm appreciative!!! Perhaps, seeing the world through under tens and way under tens, who run and toddle to meet you, just continually surprises, delights, and surpasses?!!! What a time and place to find caring, supportive, inspiring parents and teachers; devoted bus drivers; garbage technicians who will, upon request, share their autographs; and fire fighters, who explain and encourage matter so very much?!!! But of course, I've not met any CASTLE fans, who are not incredibly busy and involved in RL, no matter the stage, loved ones, careers, ups and downs....!!! For me, CASTLE adds to the aforementioned a different world and set of experiences--the show itself--and the friends/neighbors and Internet/actual friends with whom I'm privileged to share it!!! I've thought about your restaurant analogy--beautifully written and expressed and added to by Angie, too--and about the many feelings so many of you have expressed!!! As for the restaurant, I'd probably, hopefully, politely, complain--in my case, hope for a delicious dessert--and maybe give that spot one more try--and if not up to my expectations, find a different restaurant to enjoy?!!! But, IMHO, I think that none of you want a new restaurant or another show other than CASTLE, you want the CASTLE you feel that it was, could and should be, and is not!!! Again, IMHO, I care; but I'm not now there!!! So, here's to APFJ and to the other places and ways in which we interact and appreciate our similarities and differences!!! Still, for me--no pun intended: together, make up, CASKETT love--sounds fine to me!!! (:>)

That pretty much sums up season 8 for me. I understand what you mean. I still am hopeful but I don't have a clue how can they wrap this in a credible way. When I saw 8x02 my first reaction was "I don't want to watch this anymore" and although I knew I would, I doubted I would enjoy. That reaction was because for me it feels like all evolution of kate's character from season 4 on and "Always"were put in the trash. It seems Kate should listen to her own speach in the end of 4x23 and her Wedding vows. So, I am hopeful we might have the show we love back but I'm afraid they wont' be able to sell this arc as a "step forward that strenghtens Kate and Rick as a couple" but that it will still feel like a regression ans a stain in their "always".

I think they are just speculating based on what we already knew.. I hope we soon get some stronger evidence :-)
