People seem focused on the idea that Kate has lied. She has not lied. She has told him that it is not him, that she still loves him, and that she will be back if he is still there. This is all true. She has not told him why. We know why. I feel that Rick knows why. She has gone back down the rabbit hole.Not telling Castle why is a lie of omission plain and simple. Why isn't Castle and the 12th right there in the middle of it with her.They have always worked better as a team. The separation and PI arcs do not speak well of a couple that has fought very hard for trust,love and partnership. Lame story line? Poor writing? Maybe,maybe not. Time will tell. Right now the story line is seemingly NOT advancing the love story that is Caskett. The problem I see if indeed there is a problem is that the separation serves no purpose as the story unfolds. The still see each other daily,are still married but just not living together as man and wife. If this story line was accurate then Kate should be seeing Dr. Carver Burke and being lead to realize just how wrong she was to leave Rick. She supposedly is trying protect him when in actuality she cannot protect him from teams of assassins. Furthermore as we've seen before,she needs her team. She has never been able to do it alone.Her best work is always with Rick and the boys. Rambling I know. Apologies! |

I saw XY Saturday night. Net5 in the Netherlands has started earlier with Season 8 than I expected. Well, there was nothing wrong with XY. It was typical Castle. Well, it was a surprising dark start. But how often they did that in the past? Dark ends and dark beginnings? Well the spiders were not funny to start with in a new season, but so much was not funny over the last 7 years. It's not a typical family show. All the murders and the murderers with all the shown details. I really enjoyed XY. Why the anger against the writers and producers? It's teamwork. Fillion and Stanic are co-producers. Well. They must have known where they signed for. Rick and Kate are always in trouble. Married or not. If you want to stop that, it will be the end of the series. I had to think of Watershed, the end of Season 5. I saw it today again to check it. The same things Marta and the father of Becket said about her are still true for her in Season 8. She's not a regular housewife! Rick has to know that. He cannot keep her in a box. And Rick got signs and explanations enough to realize that she was not gone because of him. Now William Bracken told Rick exactly how Beckett is. She has to go where she feels she has to go. That is what she is. I think a lot of fans want to see what they want for their own imaginary Castle world. What's the fun of that? Getting what you want makes you lazy and sloppy and in the end unhappy. Real happiness stems from accepting the world as it is. It's useless to fight against life itself for then you lose yourself.. I recommend watching Castle without expectations and then it will be new….. each episode. We're all going to disagree about the direction of the show, the lighting, the amount of graphic violence, Caskett, or the amount of time we see Alexis. But, we've gotten used to the show pulling our  so we come back season after season until one day when there's been too many inconsistency, when the shark's been jumped one too many times, when the story no longer resembles what I've been following, when the storytelling no longer makes sense, that's the day we have to decide whether Castle is entertaining enough to follow or we go entertain ourselves elsewhere. I'm neither lazy nor sloppy. For example, I workout every other day, keeping detailed notes. I'm very aware of my diet. My clothes are clean and neatly pressed or steamed. I may look disheveled at times but that's by choice and manufactured by me. And I do all of this because I get what I want. I'm the healthiest I've ever been at age 43. I have the functional health to do the things I have to do and the things I want to do. I radiate authority and I get noticed by both men and women in public. I'm constantly complimented on appearance and I'm told by folks that they wish they had my discipline. And there's the rub. You take a viewer like me looking for entertainment and you deliver a quality product and I will rave about you forever (eg "Breaking Bad"). You give me a poor product and I will warn others (eg "The Last Witch Hunter" ~ AVOID). Castle? In serious trouble and declining. XX and XY were fantastic until the XX ending. Why? Leverage. I explained it elsewhere but I'll leave you to draw your own conclusion after you've seen it. I don't accept the world as it is. I will always roar against the slings and arrows of outrageous fortune. As the years add lines to my eyes, I've managed to learn to pick my battles along the way. Not everyone who picks up the stone loses themselves. Why am I here on this board? Because I enjoy talking about it with other diehard fans and making friends along the way (*cough* castlekat, ProudTVJunkie *cough*). He's being nice, calling me friend. What I really am, is the bossy, "in your business" sister who is oftentimes too free with unsolicited advice. But I'm older. Soon to be 49. So I think I can. And I'm an only child, who's almost an empty nester. Yeah. Bless his heart.....    |

Regarding this thread, and the whole arc here/all of Season 8 so far, the best word to describe how I feel is "apathetic". I have had such strong reactions to this show since the mess that was 6 x 23, that it has been a struggle for me since then to get that lovin' feeling back. It has now slipped so far from me, that to try to put into words, to explain how I feel about this separation, the characters (all of them except Martha), the direction and the change up of leadership for this show, overwhelms me. I am just standing by, and guardedly hoping with each episode I will be pleased with any upturn in the direction of this ridiculous, unfortunate series of events in my beloved show. I am beyond heartbroken. I'm just meh. But I'm not leaving, either. And most of you are the reason for that. Til tomorrow. I have been gone all day & need to get dinner started.  |

They had tomato kale soup today at the cafe at the Musical Instrument Museum. I was going to try it but I never got a break for lunch.
