They care so little about the fans it is sad. And if they think there are equal fans enjoying this storyline, they are very mistaken That's not necessarily true. The fan base is larger than the hundred or so people enjoying this forum community and in general, this forum represents the 'hard core Castle groupies'. There is a much larger portion of the fan-base not being represented here. Don't get me wrong, there were things I found hard to swallow in episode two, but frankly, I'm willing to give the season a chance. Seasons 1-3 are my favorites. I'm interested to see what they do with it. It's too early to tell if I'm going to like it or not. It's just the ugly reality of much-loved long-running tv shows. after 5+ seasons, they have to go out on a limb to keep the story perspective fresh and interesting. Castle needed a change, IMO.

Im going to have to respectfully disagree. Im not talking about those who post here, but do a good web search and check out fb, twitter, other boards and comments. At least half (more IMO) are hating this and sticking around out of loyalty or for the end goal of a reunion - not because they are enjoying it. I thought the idea was to do a show ur fans loved and got excited about. And i totally agree they needed to do something fresh. This isnt fresh-its the oldest play in the book.

You're right, I've been in my own world, publishing fanfiction and not really paying that much attention to the Castle-verse outside of Monday nights. But I'm not alone. I just got this off a review on fanfiction.net: I think your story is like Season 8 - frustrating with the separation, but great things are to come and will be so worth it. Just wait for the makeup sex.

Last Tuesday I was picking up my daughter from school and I waited with some other moms. They know that I review TV and we've talked Castle before. They aren't diehard fans but watch frequently. I knew we were in trouble when the one mom asked me when the show was going to get back to regular Castle episodes. She said this season didn't seem as much fun as it used to be. Another mom asked if I knew who the killer was because she fell asleep. When she woke up she asked her husband how it ended but he said he got bored and turned it off.
That's when I started this thread because I'm afraid that if the show continues on the path it's on, even the casual viewers who don't care as much as we do will eventually tune out.

I have had the same response from casual viewers. One person was watching the reruns this summer and thought Castle was on Sunday nights. She asked when the new season would start. She didn't even know that Castle has always been on Monday nights since the pilot. I am going to enjoy this s week on TNT as they are airing season 2. I get to see fun again.
