I respectfully put this before the board.I feel that we have reached a writing slump of epic proportions. A rut that seems to be widening into a canyon. I don't dislike the writers but they seem to continue to beat a dead horse. New mythology! What new mythology? Castle disappears,no one cares and it's dropped like a stone. Yes they may pick it back up at some point but no one cares. Beckett becomes captain. Yawn!!! Castle returns to being a PI. Seriously!?!? Even with the new office and Alexis taking almost complete control to further her new ADULT lifestyle it's just not getting it done for me. Beckett LEAVES Castle!!! WTH !!!! Like this is going to make hardcore fans  go pitter patter! Angst is not what I want between our DD. Been there done that. Threw away the Tee shirt. THIS IS A LOVE STORY!!!!!!!! I WANT A LOVE STORY between the most perfect couple with the best chemistry on television in the last ten years. Make it lively. Make it fun. Make it tense.Make it exciting. Give us joy.Give us sadness. But GIVE US LOVE that makes us want to be Castle and Beckett. It's "Always" been about Castle and Beckett. I don't want them separated for any reason and I want them shoulder to shoulder and hip to hip involved with each other. Write a loving exciting modern couple that the fans want to see. It's not impossible to do.It's done on fan fic every day. Not really a rant but a respectful plea for for the return of the love story I think we all want to see. That is the CHANGE I want to see!  BTW: Write it hot while your at it.  |

WOW, arky, that was really, REALLY good. You just said what many of us think and feel. I miss the eye sex, loving looks, and CHEMISTRY that was there when they are onscreen together. It's tough to have that when they are apart so much of the time these days. Thanks for posting, arky.

arky, I couldn't agree more with everything you've said. If these writers can't write the epic love story we've come to expect then perhaps they need to bring on someone who can. Actually, thread may have inspired an idea. Stay tuned...

I agree, and my preference would have been that the writers find a way to make things more interesting in the context of the relationship. That being said, my problem with this particular arc is that the writers, for lack of a better term, half assed it. For this arc to really work, Kate would have had to actually leave, be gone, not findable. Of course that could not be done. So the whole thing rests on the premise that because Kate and Castle are not living together the new bad guy/gal will leave Castle and his family alone. Never mind that they are seeing each other all the time. Just doesn't work for me.

I actually don't think there is a "writing slump." I think that but for the last minute of 8x02 the first three episodes have been much better then many of the episodes the last 2 years. I don't like the choice, but I don't think it reflects a writing slump. |

I actually don't think there is a "writing slump." I think that but for the last minute of 8x02 the first three episodes have been much better then many of the episodes the last 2 years. I don't like the choice, but I don't think it reflects a writing slump. Perhaps your right. I didn't know what else to call it. They (the writers) continue to follow various twist of the original story line.(Beckett's Mothers murder).Granted they are now wrapping it around the death of her "team" when she had her ill fated attempt to move up the ladder with the AG's office. But...the story leads back to Bracken,who even in death continues to dominate the story line. They even brought Smith back. Now in my humble opinion and granted it's just an opinion but this story line should have died a dignified death when Beckett busted Bracken for her Mother's murder. Now they have her leaving Castle,her husband,lover,partner and better half in order to pursue this gang of assassins. At the same time she hasn't really left at all and continues to "work" with Castle while not actually living with him. That doesn't make sense to me. No that doesn't mean they are in a slump just because I'm not happy with the story. I probably could have said instead of being in a slump they are exhibiting what I would call an extreme lack of imagination or as you say,"half-assed it" . That is just being lazy with the story. Again just my opinion. There are fans that are happy with the story and writing and I'm proud for them,seriously! I guess I'm just not one of those fans right now. Hope springs eternally! I appreciate and thank you for your opinion. It gives me another perspective to think about. |

For whatever reason, TV Writers (not just Castle's writers) have not figured out how to write about loving, happily married couples. Without obstacles, they have nothing. Seems to me there should be plenty of obstacles without separating them. |

We have to remember that the writers are doing this for a living. They want to make this all work. How different it is to write in today's Twitter and on line world where they get immediate feedback on how fans feel. You either read it and cry or you just stay off line and write in your room with the other writers. They are trying their best. I sure wouldn't want to be a writer in today's world.
