I think the end of this episode is right up there with 623. You would have thought they learned their lesson, guess not. I think they will see a large number drop next week. I will be watching the NBC show next week and Castle on DVR.

I think you were honest, and probably have written what many of us are thinking. I have to say, I could never have been as eloquent.

You pretty much nailed almost everything I was thinking and feeling. I have been okay with a lot of things, including 6x23, but this, I just don't know what to say.

*sigh*
And once again, Castle goes on the DVR. Why can't they just figure out how to write them as a married couple? My trust in the new showrunners is dead after two episodes. (Amman got 10)
As I stated in the comments section of your review, I really hope they aren't serious about keeping Caskett apart all season, as the audience might be gone by then.

It looks like we have 5 more episodse to get through. That makes it around their anniversary for them to be on sound ground again. Going by the promo she is back at the house. Plus I am wondering if the house was bugged, but then again it doesn't reflect why Beckett is back at the house with her arms around Castle. Then again the promo could be misleading. So many question and non of the answers I could come up with make any kind of since, just like this episode.

To say that I was “gob smacked” by 8x02, XX, would be an understatement!!! I loved the fast pace, palpable suspense, and astounding plot twists!!!
Christine, I think that in a review that was, obviously, incredibly difficult to write, you wrote very eloquently!!!
I don’t believe that the CASKETT “breakup” will last long!!! I hope that it doesn’t!!!
The work of the crew, team, and actors was marvelous!!! Regular, supporting cast and guest cast were outstanding in their parts!!!
Stana and Nathan were again incredible!!! Stana had many chances and never missed an opportunity to “be” BECKETT!!! How marvelous were CASKETT building theory together when not physically together, Rick’s introduction of Captain BECKETT, and Kate’s precinct speech?!!!
I think that BECKETT left, not genuinely, but to protect CASTLE and their family/loved ones—and future—IMHO!?!! I had not fully grasped that Kate is also dealing with her own nature and demons!!!
Is BRACKEN actually dead—I suppose so?!!! Do our detectives truly understand LOCKSAT?! With so many players dead, does it matter?! Will finding and delivering justice to the perpetrator(s) take all of Season 8?!!!
I found Rita and her advice fascinating!!! Ann CUSACK had many, excellently delivered lines, I thought!!! I was a bit taken aback by her suggestion that, if CASKETT survived this, the families should get together?!!! “Don't you see the gift you've been given? Go live your life." Christine, I never even thought about more family/step siblings?!
Some dialog I loved, in that Kate's/Stana's and Rick's/Nathan's deliveries were impeccable: “Worst thing I thought I was gonna be facing was working without Castle. And then you called.”
The callback: “CASTLE, shut up and kiss me.”
“Yes, and then she left me. It’s kind of a sore subject.”
“Together we can figure this out. We can figure anything out, just like always.”
“Why are you giving up on our marriage?”
“I’m trying to save it.”
“You going somewhere?”
“I’m sorry. I love you so much.”
“What are you doing?”
“I have to go. I have to get my head right. I have to figure some things out so that we can have a happily ever after.”
“Where is this coming from? Is it because of your AGT? Bracken? Why are you giving up on our marriage?”
“I’m trying to save it.”
“By leaving me?”
“Beckett, if you have a problem, we have a problem. That's how it works.”
“I love you. I always will."
L.T. is back and recovering. I am delighted!!!

Christine, you did a great job with that review
This is exactly what I think:
"Rita made it pretty clear. These are people with such power that they will send in multiple assassin teams to stop her. Even if she moves out, Castle is still her husband. I can’t imagine they will hesitate to kill him whether Kate is living in the loft or not."
I get that the showrunners could have had motives for a break up, wanting to shake things up, contract issues, plans for future storylines... But they must have done it in a more credible way because this is so absurd that it's hard to believe
And myy problem with this episode is not only with Kate leaving Castle but also with so many things happening that don't have any sense. Alexis superspy, Beckett Rambo and a story that doesn't feel real to me at all.

I am going to wait and see what next weeks episode brings, that was the only thing for me that saved the night, next week looks as light hearted and back to there banter and fun, I have a wait and see attitude, but I think this separation cannot last long, they will have no following if they do.

"Over and over again this man has stepped up and proven his love for Kate Beckett and what has he gotten for it? He's gotten to see the love of his life walk out the door. Why? I'm still trying to figure that one out"
"....but this is no longer about Beckett's mother's murder. Her obsession with that made sense because it was so intensely personal. This is just obsession for obsession sake and I'm really not certain why Late has to be the one to go off to figure it out"
BAM! I could not agree with these two statements more. I've now slept on it and am still perplexed, and not in a good way. In 5 minutes or less TPW and AH have managed to take Beckett down yet another notch or 2 or more. I said after last week that the show couldn't afford any more missteps and I won't be surprised if this latest Beckett fiasco proved to be the final nail ultimately.
Beckett honey, how many more times are you going to break Castle's heart by running away from him??? <sigh>
I've spent 7 years watching this most remarkable, maddening, challenging, frustrating love story unfold to a great ending last season only to watch it crumble. Yay me! And before anyone says it, I know they will eventually be back together but at what cost??? Not sure I'm willing to watch Castle scratch and claw his way back to her when in my opinion it should be Beckett doing the scratching and clawing to get Castle back.
I think it's time to put Castle to permanent DVR status for me.
And to add insult to injury the first patient blood sample I get for testing this morning had the last name of Castle. Lord.....
Anyway, Great review Christine! Thanks!

Sadly, I think your review said it all. Since I am a "till the wheels fall off" fan, I am going to TRY to re-watch this episode and hope for a more positive impression. The last 2 minutes seemed to be the standard twist that is produced when the writer's well is dry. Maybe last season should have been, .... the last. I was so certain that the writers would save the day with XX. They did not. I have never been more disappointed in my series!

Didn't know where else to put this. So, its getting scarry on twitter. Its' funny how people are saying other fans are showing lack of respect to the cast and crew. However, I have yet to come across any of these tweets. Or if I did its because the so call person who is screeming that people should stop and show respect are the ones retweeting it.
Maybe Terence and Alexi knew what they were doing after all.
