Nice Round Table!

First off, we need a new cast photo since Penny is gone. I wonder if that's why we didn't get a photo shoot once season 8 filming commenced. Wonder if Haley is going to be a regular, and therefore didn't want to spoil if via photos. .........

I guess I found balance in this episode. I love fun Castle, but I love the dramatic episodes. And I love Rob Bowman filming. There was enough "fun Castle" for me to tide me over and make me feel like it is the show I know & love. There is definitely a subtle new vibe, but waiting to see how this season plays out. Different can be good. 

NOTHING, I say NOTHING, can be worse than the train wreck that was 6 x 23 where EVERYONE was out of character. I mean EVERYONE. Including the slap-stick vibe. Everything is a cake-walk for me now after that. lol... sorry. Don't mean to beat 6 x 23  to death.  Or do I? 

And, if I may be so bold to say, I did like the way Alexis reassured Castle, but nobody does it better than his mother.

Great job Nathanfan. I too hope next week we get some clarity on what the ...is going on. After that I think we will get back to fun.
I think the new guys wanted to give us a new villain story so they can give us some of that spot through out the season?

Totally agree, Tycho. I understand that this 2 parter was meant to establish several plot points that can be used as the season unfolds. For me though, I would have rather started with more fun and less drama and angst and then had the 2 parter a bit later on.

I missed these. A tip of the hat. Nice job, Bobbie. One thing that bugged me about Alexis was that she was acting like Columbia was just an afterthought that she could just sleepwalk through. Really, in what world would that happen?? Also, I felt she was talking down to her Dad in the PI office like she was smarter and better than Rick. That kind of ground my gears a little. I'm on the fence over Haley too. I am looking forward to the rest of the story.

I enjoyed everyone's opinions and answers, including yours, Christine and Bobbie/nathanfan!!!

I agree that Rick's new office is spectacular and very BOND-like--why should he not change and redecorate--with support/assistance from Alexis' meeting with work people!!! I did love the vintage office and am glad that CastleKat pointed out to me that the vintage elevator and hallway remain!!!

I have some rather different reactions: I have no problem with Kate's decision and trust that she chose to protect Rick and family and is torn about it--and I feel that, together, they will resolve any lingering anger and frustrations and will continue to work together, despite changes and challenges; also, I liked Alexis and haven't had problems with her, even with Pi, which situation I found reflective of Alexis' rebellion, hurt, and growth--and I did appreciate Alexis' eventual appreciation/apologies for/to Rick and Kate, which Alexis expressed to her father and to Kate!!! I so appreciated that I was not dealing with a Pi--in nearly every way a parent's nightmare!!! I also appreciated Alexis' 8x01 Alexis' support of Kate, which Alexis strongly expressed to Rick!!!

I enjoyed 8x01's fast paced, intense, suspense with plot twists and turns!!! I don't mind the two-parter first and would be happy with other, later two-parters, likely not possible?!!!

I find COLEMAN'S BRACKEN a terrific villain, as I did MOSLEY'S and WERCHING'S 3XK and doctor--but I am relieved that the latter are dead!!! I also appreciated Rick's comments to BRACKEN!!!

I, too, loved RYSPOSITO and RYSPOTLE!!! I did appreciate that Toks/Haley showed understanding of Alexis' love for her father and of Rick's for Kate!!!
