I disagree with everyone thinking that Beckett doesn't trust Castle. In this instance I would have to agree with Beckett. I would have kept whatever is going on away from him. Especially when she found out that everyone on McCords team was assassinated. What is going on that AG agents are being targeted has to be huge, and she couldn't afford this coming knocking on her front door. So the only way she could protect Castle was to go on the run.

I posted these thoughts at TV Fanatic also, but just wanted to say that I think your review was pretty spot on. I have no problem with Alexis perhaps becoming more involved, but that opening scene with her dad in his office was just disrespectful of her father and not the Alexis I feel we have come to know; that Alexis would not have done something as underhanded as forging her father's signature for college credits. I did like how she used the lessons learned from Haley to do some investigating and contribute to the investigation. I do hope there will be a plausible explanation for Kate's actions and keeping Castle in the dark. kbc, I like your theory on that.

I agree with you! Beckett would put her life at risk to protect him and his family, just as he would in her shoes. Beckett trusts him with her life, but she won't risk his life if she can help it.

I left my comments after your review. I totally agreed about Alexis and I'd rather see Hayley just be a part of these 2 episodes. Don't know that I'm looking forward to her being a regular.

I have just watched and I liked the episode very much. I can't wait to see the next one. I agree though that solving cases behind her father's back is not something I would see Alexis doing. As for Kate, I felt she was either protecting Castle or she was not allowed to share with him what was happening. She did the same when she was in FBI...

Beautifully written review, PTVJ--you make me think, as always--I agree--agree or disagree--part of the fun!!! You also always point out dialog that I have missed and/or need to ponder and appreciate!!! Your opinions "give me pause" and cause me to reflect!!
I have some rather different reactions: I have no problem with Kate's decision and trust that she chose to protect Rick and family and is torn about it--and I feel that, together, they will resolve any lingering anger and frustrations and will continue to work together, despite changes and challenges; also, I liked Alexis and haven't had problems with her, even with Pi, which situation I found reflective of Alexis' rebellion, hurt, and growth--and I did appreciate Alexis' eventual appreciation/apologies for/to Rick and Kate, which Alexis expressed to her father and to Kate!!! I so appreciated that I was not dealing with a Pi--in nearly every way a parent's nightmare!!! I also appreciated Alexis' 8x01 Alexis' support of Kate, which Alexis strongly expressed to Rick; I enjoyed 8x01's fast paced, intense, suspense with plot twists and turns!!!
I find COLEMAN'S BRACKEN a terrific villain, as I did MOSLEY'S and WERCHING'S 3XK and doctor--but I am relieved that the latter are dead!!! I also appreciated Rick's comments to BRACKEN, comments you noted!!!
I, too, loved RYSPOSITO and RYSPOTLE!!! I did appreciate that Toks/Haley showed understanding of Alexis' love for her father and of Rick's for Kate!!!
To return for a minute to Pi--my youngest, 15-month-old grandson always chooses fruit over any of his other, dining options--although, when faced with no more fruit, he does eat lots of other foods!!! My SIL, giving a nod to my CASTLE fanship, smiles that perhaps Henry is a frutarian--but we agree, in no other way like Pi!!! (:>)
