For the last few summers, we have watched Rookie Blue, a very GOOD cop procedural. Two of the main characters became engaged and got married in the season finale. The writers and producers of the show really nailed it. It was a great finale to this season. My wife turned to me and quietly said, "That's what Castle should have done. What in the world were they thinking??" I still have never watched a rerun of the Season 6 finale. It remains IMO the worst season finale ever. Rookie Blue did it right and sent the fans into the hiatus happy and looking forward to hopefully another season. Castle did everything superbly for 6 seasons and then for whatever reason jerked the rug out from under the most devoted fans of all. Go figure. Just my opinion, folks.

So true, Geezer. A lot of us feel the exact same way.

I cover Rookie Blue for TV Fanatic and as I watched that finale all I could think was that this is what Castle fans deserved. A real wedding with Rick and Kate's friends and family there to celebrate. As much as I loved the Caskett vows, it still felt patched together. Like you, I've never watched 623 again. It is, in my opinion, the worst episode of the series and was made all the more painful because it should have been the best. (FYI, that may have been the Rookie Blue series finale since ABC has yet to renew the show for another season. If you like the show, drop ABC a line and tell them you want more!)

Thanks, PTVJ, nathanfan, and daphenie. I've felt like a traitor for saying such things and feeling like I do. They built the story of Rick and Kate just so beautifully right up to that point. It just seemed beyond bizarre to do that. I know it's only a TV show, but we actually felt cheated. It was hard getting excited over S7. Yes, like you PTVJ, we loved the vows but they felt like a quick fix and very unfulfilling. Again, this is JMO but I think S8 will be the last. I just hope the writers do justice to the wonderful show Castle was.
