Hi All, First off, Happy Veterans Day to all who have served and thank you for your service to our country. My late father served in the Navy in the mid-60s. We actually had some rain last night. Not a huge amount, but we've gone about 40 days without any measurable rain this fall. That's VERY unusual here. So I'm relieved we got something. I just hope it's enough to help quell the wildfires that are burning north and south of us. Unfortunately, even with occasional watering, all my mums have died, and most of the grass is brown. But my roses live on and I'll have to prune them one last time for the season soon. When I looked at the calendar this morning, I really couldn't believe that almost half of November was gone already. I have to call my Mom and start getting the Thanksgiving menu settled. And I've already been looking at Christmas cards. (I love sending and receiving Christmas cards. ). Okay, now it's your turn. Please, check in and let us know how things are going where you are.

We had my husband's Celebration of Life this past Saturday at a Mexican food restaurant. We had a buffet lunch which was wonderful and the service was excellent. Two tables were set up to display some of my husband's artwork (he had an art degree). 48 family and friends attended and some shared memories of him. It was a good celebration.
We're definitely in the fall season now with afte3rnoons in the 70s and overnight in the 40s to 50s. Our air quality is not the best now due to smoke from fires in CA being blown our way. I'm so glad the election is finally over. No more campaign TV ads, mailers, and phone calls!
Have a good rest of the week and a fun weekend, everyone.

DrvrTrnr, I'm glad the Celebration of Life for you husband went so well. I love that it was at a Mexican restaurant and I'd love to see some of his artwork. (My daughter is an artist as well.) When my father died a few years ago, he hadn't wanted a funeral and only "a party" as he put it. I've always been happy we had the "party" where people could celebrate his life and share their memories. I hope you're able to take comfort in the one you had for your husband. It was 33 degrees when I woke up this morning. It was 60 to 70 degrees a week ago. I already miss it! We have wildfires to the north and south of us, but thankfully, the breeze has kept the smoke away. We could really use some rain to put those out but there's nothing in the forecast looking forward. And yes, the one upside of the election being over is no longer having to watch all of the stupid campaign ads. Do they really sway anyone? I'm astounded by the amount of money wasted on those things that could be used to actually do some good in the world. I'd love to see that change but I'm not about to hold my breath.

Fall has finally arrived in WI. It is finally looking like Fall. Our trees are finally bare and the temps will finally be Novemberish by the middle of next week. Really late for us. We, too, finally got some rain and are catching up to our normal moisture which is a good thing. My wife had her annual Medicare Physical this week. Her Doc told her to just enjoy her remaining years and keep on doing what she is doing. She is 80. My physical is in a week and a half. I'm nervous but feel well and hope for the best. I'm 78. We have all the normal stuff for folks our age but remain self sufficient and have not lost our minds yet, LOL My 14 year old namesake has grown to 6'1" this year and is looking forward to basketball season. Games start this week and he is happy for it. Have a nice weekend all!

DrvrTrnr, happy you gave your Hubby a great sendoff and that his pain is over.
Christine, thank you for the veterans day wishes. I, also, served in the USN in the mid 60's.
