I am bored this morning so I thought I would start the weekly thread. I am so looking forward to watching the US Open Tennis this week. Still on my bucket list of things to do. I played tennis in high school and College. I played 2nd singled and 1st doubles at every match we had. I look back and think I must have been crazy to play 2 matched every time we played. I have been watching old episodes of Castle and NCIS so I can avoid all of the crazy election adds. Living in Arizona we get bombarded with more than the rest of the country. What are you up to?

Thanks for getting this thread up, tycho657! We were visiting family in Brooklyn over the weekend and saw some signs for the US Open on our drive there. I've never played tennis. I had hoped to play in college, but it just never worked out. We're hoping to get down the shore for a day this week, since we canceled last week's trip due to low temps and rip currents. This week looks good! Temps around 90 and low chance of rip currents. . As my daughter goes back to school next week, this will be the last chance for a mid-week beach day. We may try to get down there again on the weekends after that if the weather holds. The lifeguards are on duty on the weekends until the end of September. We haven't gotten too many political ads just yet, but a lot of emails and texts. But I'm sure we'll get hit with all of those ads soon enough. Hope everyone is having a wonderful week. Please check in and let us know how you're doing.

Arizona is getting hit with constant TV political adds. I record most of the shows I watch so I can hit fast forward and skip the adds. I need to get down to the river for a nice kayak trip before they cut the water back. In the winter we can still use the river but only the bottom part. The horses are out on the river eating the grass that grows from the bottom. It is amazing to see them dive right down with their heads to grab grass and come up with a mouthful. Now that school is back the river will be less busy.

We got one more day in down the shore. The water was a little colder, probably from last week's hurricane churning things up, but beautiful. But later in the day the wind shifted and the flies came out off the dunes, so we decided to leave a bit early. I hate it when that happens. As my Mom says, that's why we need a beach house, so we can leave and come back again later. Unfortunately, any homes near the beach start at about $1 million.
As for now, we're just trying to enjoy the last few days of sleeping in before school starts this week. The bus comes at 6:45am!

A lot of golf tournaments are starting up this week and next. With temps in the high 90s and steamy, it's getting hard to keep competing. I bought a little fan to clamp on the golf cart which helps immensely. I had Thursday off and we set a record of 101°. So glad I was mostly indoors.
We have 3 family members with birthdays within a week of each other so this weekend we're having a little party. kids have been back in school for 3 weeks so it will be interesting to see how things are going. My granddaughter just started attending one of the top charter schools in the nation formerly attending a small town middle school. I'm sure she's adjusting well but it will be good to hear her perspective.
Can't believe tomorrow is September already!
