Hi All, It's July! This summer is already going by much too fast, but I am enjoying having my daughter home. Today, my husband has enlisted her to help put together some furniture we bought from Wayfair. My daughter is threatening to turn him in for unfair child labor practices. She's been offered an ice cream sundae once they finish. That seems to have been accepted as appropriate payment. We got a couple of inches of rain over the weekend, which seems to have cooled things off a bit. It's nice to turn off the air, open the windows, and feel a breeze! So how is your week looking? Check in and let us know.

Still no rain...we need it badly! Today is only 79 with a breeze and very low humidity which meant 'yard work' before more high temperature and humid days which are already forecast. Dawn just left for high school band uniform support. She is the 'band grandmother' since many parents are at work and others do not seem to care at all...such a shame for those kids. Anyway, they really appreciate her support and sewing skill for uniform adjustments. She has even taught a session on how to tie a necktie.

There is no sugar coating the news we got last Thursday. My husband has a mass on his right lung and is into the bone a little and in a lymph node. There are 2 small spots on his liver. They did a biopsy on that and we should get results by Wed. It's obviously cancer but we don't know what kind or what stage for sure--I'm guessing stage 4. Nothing showed up on X-rays a year ago in the hospital so this is all new. We have a good team of doctors so he'll get good care. Our youngest daughter works for Mayo Clinic so he could go there for a second opinion. We're hoping for a treatable diagnosis.
Our weather is hot and steamy. We had a torrential rain this morning at 4:30. As usual, the weeds loved it.

DrvrTrnr I hate to hear this medical info on your husband. The good news, I guess, is that you have good doctors and that you could go to Mayo Clinic. I'll keep you guys in my prayers.

Mayo clinic is the best. Hopefully they will be able to find a treatment. I saw my back doctor today and got 3 shots in my back then went for an x ray, so they can figure out what's going on. I'm hoping they can figure out what's going on, so my back will feel better soon. I'm afraid to get in my pool for fear that I won't be able to get back out without help.

Thank you all for your kind words and well wishes. We'll know a lot more after seeing the oncologist tomorrow.

I saw Inside Out 2 this weekend with my daughter and her friends. It was very insightful and entertaining. All of the 13 to 14 year olds with us just loved it. If you have the chance, go see it.

DrvrTrnr, so sorry for your news. That darn cancer just is everywhere. Currently, we know 7 friends and family who are dealing with it. My best friend passed away on June 24th from it. He was retired only a short time, found out, and passed within a year. Just so sad. My wife goes in for testing in less than 2 weeks. We are holding our breaths as it has been 7 years since her last bout. We are staying busy with baseball and soccer games for the twins. Going to the movies a bit too. We saw the new A Quiet Place on the 4th. It was good. I got to go salmon fishing out on Lake Michigan last Sunday with SIL, grandson and a friend. We caught quite a few. Lucky me caught the largest at 12 pounds. It was a fun day and only 1 person got a little seasick. We are having a very wet summer. Today is nice but they predict rain(again) the next 3 days. Teresa, hope they can help you with your back troubles. Thoughts and prayers to you and DrvrTrnr.

I decided to go to the Mayo emergency department today to get my back checked out. Found out I do have 2 cracked places on my spine. I just have to take it easy and take my pain meds and it will get better. I’m glad I got it checked at Mayo. There was only 2 people in the emergency waiting area. Got in quick and was able to get a cat scan done on my back. My back Dr just had an X-ray. This dr said that this crack probably would not even show. I just need to take it easy for a few weeks and it should heal up. Glad I have time to let it heal.

tycho657, Ouch! Please, rest as much as you can so this can heal. And reach out to friends and neighbors for help if you need it. I hope you feel better soon.
