Hi All, I hope you all had a lovely weekend. I had a bit of a surprise this morning. I found a litter of five kittens, about four weeks old, on the edge of my property. I scooped them up into a cat carrier and set up a cat trap, so hopefully I can catch the mom. I'll keep you posted. How is your day going? Check in and let us know.

I hope you can get Mom cat. Usually if the kittens are clean Mom is just taking a brake. You should leave them alone. Kittens need milk every 3 hours. At 4 weeks they might be eating solid food. I am packing for my trip across country. I am getting things fixed on the RV and Car so hopefully it will be smooth trip. I am concerned with the weather reports of tornados in my path. Hopefully they will avoid my path as I travel.

I got the Mom cat! She wouldn't go in a regular trap, even to get to her kittens. She just sat outside the trap for most of a day. So I got a drop trap from the rescue and was able to catch her this morning.
She's young, and the weird part is that she doesn't have tips on either of her ears. When we spay/neuter the feral cats, the vet takes the tip off of one of their ears so that we know to release them if they end up in a trap again. The vet says the tips of her ears may have torn off due to frost bite, injury, or even torture. She said she's seen all of the above.
On the upside, she's getting spayed and vaccinated tomorrow. The kittens are healthy and eating on their own. I've got them until the weekend and then they're headed to a foster home until they're old enough to be put up for adoption.
Hopefully, this will be my only kitty adventure for the week!

Thank you for finding Mom. 💞💖😻She will keep her kittens groomed and happy. The drop traps work well. Glad you were able to get one. So…I think Astrid needs a playmate/friend. You should keep one of the kittens.

Actually, the mom is feral and the kittens are eating on their own and super friendly, so we decided to separate them. Mom got fixed and vaccinated and she'll be released this week. The kittens are headed to their new foster home tonight and when they get a little older will be put up for adoption.
As for us, with one dog and one cat, and neither me nor my husband having a steady full time job at the moment, I think we'll stick with what we've got. But I will admit the kittens are darn cute. Messy, but cute.
